The intention is to convert an IList of custom objects to a string equivalent comprising each element in the Ilist. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to get the underlying data of the custom object, and of course as in the above example, using object simply gives me a string of types definitions, rather than access to the underlying data.
I keep getting the error saying that index and length must refer to a location within the string.

I get the error msg in the line marked bold. When i checked the input file, the length of all the fields looks fine. I dont understand the cause of this error.
What I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.
Is there a control in vb.net that is specifically designed for displaying content larger than the control itself?I know it's possible to code your own using a panel and two scrollbars, but is there an already existing method for this?

I have searched but i am getting lost in all the examples.

I think i need a datatemplate or maybe to specify binding source.
I am doing all this in the wpf form loaded event.
I guess i need a sample code for binding a list of collection to a listbox.
I'm trying to create a custom control that contains a List(Of Panel). I quickly ran into an error about the base class Panel being nonserializable. So I created my own class that inherits from Panel and implemented the ISerializable interface. At the surface, everything appears to work, at least everything at design time. I don't know what would happen if I tried to run the application. Anyway, the errors occur when I try to open a file that contains my custom control. For example, I create a new Windows Form and add my custom control to it. I save the Form and close it.
Then I try to open the form and get the following error: Object of type 'MyTestApplication.SerializablePanel[]' cannot be converted to type 'MyTestApplication.SerializablePanel[]'.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong? I've opened the XML file to see what it's actually writing, and read the header notes about using binary base64 serialization. I think that's what I'm using, but I'm not sure.

I've created a custom user control that has several properties. One specifies which database I want the control to access. I want to be able to present the user of the control a drop down from which he can select which database the control will interact with. How do I get the dropdown to work? I can get default values, but have yet to figure out how to get the selectable list.

What is it? i searched MSDN, it looks like one of the SQL errors. How can this happen, i didn't use SQL.Edit: i fixed this tool strip problem. seems that i put visible to false unknowingly. I also have a problem with my Tool strip. View 4 RepliesI have a windows application created using Visual Studios 2005.I recently added a custom control - after I built it, I was able to see it on the toolbox and I placed it from there to my form. All was good till at some point, when I tried to go to the design view of my form that the control is on, I get this error: Could not load file or assembly 'acdbmgd, Version=17.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. [code]I can still run my app and see the control that's on the form, but I'm wondering what this error means? If I rem out the code behind my custom control, I can then view the control on the page again when I design the form.

I assume this is because the string (trg.name) is too small for the 4, 6 substring. What would be the correct method of working around this problem? VB.net Studio 2008.

The problem is that the designer doesn't allow to enter a newline directly for a string property.I want the same behaviour as the system TextBox's Text property, where you can click on the down arrow and write lines in the small text-editor that appears:How do I do that?
I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.
