Data Adapter Not Filling A Dataset
Jun 5, 2011[code]when I run my program and press this button Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles exceptionsButton.Click..I have my date range within a time that I know that my dataset should produce a result, but when I put a line break in my code here: adapter.Fill(ds)and look at it in debug, I show a table value of 0. If I run the same query that I have to produce these results in sql analyser, I see 1 result. Can someone see why my query on my form produces a different result than the sql analyser does? [code]I can also verify that the variables are passing the correct values. Can anyone please assist as to why this isnt working?

then it catch an error as Incorrect Syntax near". which it points to myAdapter.Fill(myDataSet, "tblVisitor") not the Select command.

Dec 10, 2009How do you restore a dataset to the previous state before updating the database with a data adapter? I have a concurrency update problem that I believe to be caused by this. The update fails during the update and a rollback command is issued using a SQLTransaction object. However, now the rowstates of the rows that did not have errors have been changed to unchanged. So this record is no longer availible to be inserted into the database. When I updated the value that could not be null and then test the second update which runs just as the first does then I get a concurrency error. The update code is below:

Mar 28, 2011I've made a dataset using the dataset designer, and I'm trying to add a column to reflect changes made to the database (added a column, nothing fancy). Is there a way to 'refresh' the dataset schema from the datasource without deleting my adapter (and all the methods and queries I've created)?

because a State names and Country names can be retrived from earlier entries, i want to allow user to select desired name from a list in combo box or a list in Auto Complete Custom Source for text box, to do this i have added a Table Adapter to underlying DataSet having Query "SELECT DISTICT STATE FROM CITY ORDER BY STATE".
Now, how do i use this Table Adapter to fill the ComboBox List without binding
And also Custom Source List for TextBox.
SQL Adapter Not Filling Or Erroring Out?
Feb 16, 2012I have an app that coonects to 2 different DB servers using the same code but different connstrs to fill in a Combobox. On a certain Pc the first combo fills in and the 2nd does not.It never timesout and no error msg is ever rpted back. It just sits there forever after the adapter.fill cmd.Only difference between the first combo fill and the 2nd is a different connstr.Only 12 rows should come back from the Db. I have connected to Db in SQL query window and ran the SQL cmd and the 12 rows come back in a second or 2.On other PCs this same app works fines. I have the PCs on the same OS and all the newest updates installed.I have tested the network ports, used different ones. Used different user log ins on the same PC. It just wont work.

Feb 26, 2010I am having difficulties with Filling a dataset. It seems to be automatically assigning a datatype to the column based off of the first field of data it finds in that column. The column sometimes contains an integer, but it may also contain letters and numbers. If the first field is an integer, it says the fields in the column that contain a letter are DBNull. I'd like for the entire dataset to be formatted as a string/text type since I do not know what the values will be that I'm importing 100% of the time. How do I tell the dataset to expect a certain datatype for all columns and rows i'm going to import?

but since adapter.fill does not provide an "integer" argument when i add i had to convert it to a string as such adapter.Fill(dataset, cstr(Tables.T1)). i find this "dirty" and was wondering if there is a better fix

I've tested this exact SQL String in Access and it works fine.First of all, Am I getting a SQL query from Access in the proper manner?Second... should I be using a stored procedure for this? Or is making a query from tables like this a good practice? Third, if I'm doing it right, why won't Access query return and fill my dataset?These are the results I'm getting.

Filling DataSet - Error When Database Not Available
Oct 29, 2009I have a dataset in my application that I fill using tableadapters like this:
Class Form1:

Class Database:

tblLalalalaTableAdapter.Fill(DataSet.tblLalalala)
end sub
I am told it is too early to call the tableadapter.fill method inside the constructor. If the database is unavailable now, the application won't even start. It will just kinda crash. What is the proper way to do this? When should I call the tableadapter.fill methods?

Mar 22, 2010I recently updated an app that I wrote to allow the clients to run the app in read only mode disconnected from the database by serializing the typed dataset, and when they are offsite/offline instead of connecting to the database the serialized dataset is loaded. This has been working great and then I hit a major snag.
A majority of the graphs and reports are based on sql views that are typed views in the dataset. Of course offlline the tableadapters cannot run the sql views.
Does anyone know a way to run/fill the view with the already loaded dataset? I can add rows clientside so I'm inclined to believe there must be some way to fill the view clientside but I've been at this for a number of hours now and not making any real progress.

I am going out to the database, gathering the requested information and filling the dataset. Therefore, everytime I add a query to a table adapter, it is also going to the database to get the information. So, my question is, how do I fill a table in a data set with all the records in the database table and then, filter the information I've already collected in the dataset without going back out to the database again?

Update Data From Data Set And Table Adapter
Oct 6, 2010I have a windows form program that pulls data from a sql server. That same data is being read from a ASP.NET website that sets properties for the site. The SQL server has 3 tables: tblWebPage, tblObjects, tblProperties. and 6 views for the 6 web page: vWebPage01, vWebPage02, vWebPage03..ect. When the program loads you see buttons for each web page on the site. When the user clicks on the Home Page it loads this data: [code]Now, the problem lies in updating vWebPage02, vWebPage03, ect.. I assume with the same data I can copy my form with the code and change the form name and the data set to build and update. So that's just what I did changed the form name where needed and changed "vWebPage01" to "vWebPage02".When I tested the program My "vWebPage01" form it built and updated no problem. when I went to test "vWebPage02" it built the dataset and table adapter fine but it did not update at all.
