I just want to display data in a DataGridView (from SQL - already made the connection) based on what is selected in a ComboBox (data that is also coming from SQL). The 2 are separete on the form. I am using VB 2010.

View 4 RepliesI need to display (read-only, I don't want the user to be able to modify the data) a set number of log entries. I figured using the data grid view would be the best solution. Basically the data is an error log that contains 3 fields (columns)
ID (a number from 1-20), Flag (number from 0-255), and a Description (string). I don't want the data linked to any database or anything.
These events occur asynchronously so I need to be able to add events (rows) to the data grid as they occur.
I also need the ability to clear all events (rows).
I guess the first question is if the data grid view is the best control in VB to use.
Is there a good example on using the data grid on how to add data to the data grid view one row at a time?
I am using a data grid view to display information from a database and I can't get it to update correctly.I can see the data from the database but when I change information and save it it changes the entire column's information. My rows need to have different values in the same column so this is a problem.Here is my code so far, what the program does is makes a list of transactions that are entered.
View 1 RepliesI'm using this code to search a msacces db and display the data in a listview.The Search is fired after the text_changed event of a textbox. So each character is a search and also each backspace(here's where the real pain is) it will search. When I use backspace its very very slow! When I use 100 or even a 1000 records no problem but this db has 10.000 + records.Whitch event can I use to solve this problem or how can I adjust the code for faster search? ALs o when I test on a windows7 system, dualcore, 2gb memory, when I press a key it will take time before I see the character in the textboxs? I am just making the switch from WebForms to MVC and would like to ask what are the best ways of hiding particular fields in the view. Assuming we have a model named WishList that has a list of gifts kids want for Christmas and the child's name. We want the elves to view the list of gifts, but only Santa Claus can view the child's name. Would it be best to have two views for the WishList (one for Santa and one for the elves) or is there another way to handle this? My concern is that the number of views can start piling as high as the snow does in the North Pole by the time I enforce all of the visibility settings required in my application.

I read data from a xml file and display all the contents in datagrid view. I want to extract collection of columns with same or similar contents - i.e I have three columns A,B,C and five rows in xml file. In column C, row no. 1,3,5 is filled with 'X's and row no. 2,4 is filled with 'Y's. That part works fine but when you click the button to make it do anything it will get the variables that it need from the tags on the cells for each song but for some reason the one for the Album just disappears...
