i have tried itextsharp for putting watermark on pdfs. It worked fine. Now i am trying to edit existing Header on pdf file to desired header. Is it possible? if its possible then i have to try to use it on the bunch of pdf files in one single folder
View 2 Repliesi can't edit my vb files. after having opened visual studio 2008, i open a project with the solution file. i can see, in the solution explorer window, my vb file. but if i double-click the vb file, i have the following error; there is no editor available for form1.vb. make sure the application for the file type (.vb) is installed. i have re-installed visual studio and still got the error. someone knows how to fix this?
View 3 RepliesI have a program that speaks wave files. This works problemless with the Soundplayer class with the following code:
Sub MyPlayWav(ByVal WavFileName As String, ByVal StartPos As Long, ByVal EndPos As Long)
Dim wp as new SoundPlayer
wp.SoundLocation = WavFileName
wp.Play
End sub
The soundplayer does however not seem to have a method to play the wave from position StartPos to position EndPos and achieving just that would mean quite a reduction in downloads of these files.
The soundplayer does have a stream object, and that does have a seek method, suggesting that there might be a way to accomplish this, but how?
I plan to include other media files as I am developping the project, and I guess I will be confronted with the same problem.
I have 202 .html files and at the beginning of each file, I need to add a chunk of php code. I could make this myself, but to be honest, it would take me forever and I might as well just manually edit them lol. All the .html files are in one folder.[code] one other thing that would be VERY cool, is if it could add the files that are not edited to a listbox or an outputted text file.

this can be some library or third party non-commercial tool (free to distribute) that can be included to setup package and should work when installed to any compatible PC with pdf reader. I want to be able to draw lines circles etc. within the document... or maybe draw within image and then print to pdf.
I have two Windows 7 machines and for some reason one of them does not save the changes in the file on the local computer when I right click in the WebBrowser and choose View Source.
When I click on View Source in the WebBrowser, it opens the file but with [1] attached to the filename.
When I edit the Source, and save it and reload the webbrowser,the changes not saved.
There are 2 ways we can add .vb files.We can add them as a link and choose not to copy. Or we can add them and copy.The way I did it in vb.6 is equivalent with add them as link and choose not to copy.Also what's the point of copying to target folder anyway? I want the original linked file to be updated when I change the file during debuging.

View 2 RepliesTo programming and have a question with sound files. I am trying to figure out the basics and here is what I did: I created a button that is supposed to play a sound.
My.Computer.Audio.Play("C:.......file.wav")
When I click this button in my .exe file it obviously plays because I am using the computer with the above location for the .wav file. When I use the .exe on another computer it doesn't play because it does not recognize that .wav location. How do I make this work for me? Do I need to embed the .wav with my .exe somehow?

View 2 RepliesI found this code on here to open a text fille, do a find & replace then save the changes, and the code is in a loop that will do that to every file in a given folder. My question is I also have files in sub folders, and more sub folders, and i'm not sure how deep it goes. I want to recursivly go though all the sub folders and do this to all the files, not just the files directly in the main folder.

I try now to add an edit button that will edit existing entries.User will select a given entry on the list and press edit button and will be presented with an appropriate form (AddContFrm).Right now it simply adds another entry with the same title. I avidly create games in VB.net. Being a hobby programmer I give my games away for free. Since I'm a hobbiest without formal training I do try and educate myself on proper programming principles and follow them when programming such as OOP. There are however some things I have obviously missed being self-taught that perhaps I would know if I were formally educated. Once such issue that has really been my bane is how different classes (from now on referred to as objects) 'know' about each other WITHOUT programming specific interaction.
Okay imagine this, you have a space game and the following objects

Now each one of these objects has a Health, X,Y and Z private members and properties that are all inherited from clsSpaceEntity for argument sake. Now one way of programming collision between them would be to code out the following logic in the main game loop

Now this might seam okay if your talking about the simple example above but some of my games have tens or even HUNDREDS of objects that interact in this basic way. Is there a way in OOP to do the following... for each thing that inherits from clsSpaceEntity check against every other object that inherits this type (except itself) and if they collide then reduce health next? This sort of ability for a type of objects/class or whatever to be 'aware' of another and how they are the same/different and interact would save me tonnes and tonnes and TONNES of coding.

View 5 RepliesI have been reading up on the parallel programming and even now still a little confused on the whole concepts. Lets say I have a single project with about 5 classes that interact and have local variables in methods and variables accessible to all methods in a single class and even 1 or 2 variables accessible to all classes accessed through instantiation. Now using threads I know that global variables would be overridden by multiple threads if there were no locking applied but local variables to a method/function do not, right?
So if I ran the project multiple times meaning as a new process, the methods and variables would be thread safe right and no data corruption occurs? So to implement parallel programming using the task factory, if I created a project that basically creates tasks and each task is basically running an instance of another project, then shouldn't the variables and data be thread safe and safe from corruption? But what if I had the output files and they named by Output & datetime.now.tostring, would there be conflict issues and I ask this knowing that I have seen this happen when trying it. [Code]

I wonder how I should see the vb.net language compared to a "lower generation " language like for example C+.For example if you had to develop a CRM application , can you build such an application in both programming languages with the same amount of detail and efficiency?
Is it right if I say that the "language" vb.net is an abstract version of for a example a lower language like C+ in a way that the same possibilities are possible as with C+ but more efficient so it takes the programmer less time? So basically if you would compare it with building a house in C+ you would need to build a door with all the separate pieces while in vb.net you would just place a door as a whole. But this does not mean the possibilities of building a house as a whole are fewer.
So now comes my final question: can vb.net be seen as a true programming language like C and can somebody who masters vb.net be seen as an equally good programmer as somebody who masters C+. Or would the C+ programmer in this case be superior?
