Error Debugging WCF Service Library With CRM 4
Jul 3, 2012
i am building a WCF Service Library that has to check our CRM database. Unfortunately when i try to debug the service with the WCF Test Client i receive a "Failed to invoke the service" error. I have stripped down the service slowly adding things back in to help figure out what is causing the error. I found out that it is cause when i call a new instance of my CRM service object. Is there something that i need to do in order to fix this error and be able to step through the service to debug it??

I have the following problem. I have some project written in Visual Basic (not Visual Basic .NET but simple Visual Basic - sic!). I can compile it and generate a dll. Then inside my web application I add reference to this dll library. When I run my web application hosted in default Visual Studio server, everything is fine and I can debug my Visual Basic project. However, when I host my web application in IIS then I can't.Code does not stop in my breakpoint. My asp.net catch the exception when I try to execute some method from the mentioned library which is something like:
Unable to cast COM object of type 'xxx' to interface type 'yyy'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{4C2875B5-3265-306B-9C74-1BEC98986B1A}' failed due to the following error: Error loading type library/DLL. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80029C4A (TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)).

I have a windows form application in which I'm attempting to utilize a plugin (class library). In the code I have it load the assembly from a dll file, which means I have not been able to debug. Furthermore I have not found out how to compile the library so I've had to use the debuged dll version for testing. I've run into a bug in which I create a new object and send that data through an interface to the plugin in an attempt to retrieve a blank slate group box from the plugin. However instead of reading the parameter as a new object i managed to step through the code once (don't ask me how, I don't know and I haven't been able to repeat it) and it appeared that the code was registering the parameter as "nothing" thus why I received a null reference error in the main program.

How can i turn on debugging when trying to add a service to my VB.net app? How can i change the settings to view it remotely? I tried loading up the .asmx page in IE on that server where the file is being hosted and it just asked me to save the file-would never open it to view as a page. That is the error i get when i try to load the .asmx file from my server.

I have created and deployed a windows service application and I added this line of code "System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Launch()" in the beginning of OnStart method in order to be able to debug the service but when I start the service the nothing is happened. I think the OnStart method have never fired otherwise the visual studio will popup once the debugger.launch line is executed even I tried to write some text to the event viewer to make sure but nothing gets written to the events viewer after I started the service. I included also the debugging symbol in my windows service setup project but I end up with the same result. Why it's not working? How can I make sure that the OnStart method gets fired or not?

I have a VB2008 application which can control a windows service i.e. start, stop, pause etc. This runs ok on a Windows XP machine but not on a Win 7 machine (message is - Service error cannot open <service name> service on computer '.') ( if I stop the UAC then it runs ok ). It seems to be a rights issue,

I have an asp.net project that's compiled on a server. On that same server I have a windows service that's running methods referenced from the asp.net .dll. Everything works fine except for when the httpcontext.current object needs to be accessed. I'm fairly certain that the cause of the .current being null is that it's referencing the shared library without an actual instance of the site running. In a previous version of the service I was able to find a workaround in asp.net by not using the context, however that is now a last resort as much of the architecture of the site has changed. Is there anyway to create an instance of the site and simulate a current httpcontext for the purposes of the service?

I have the following function
Private Function GetMD5(ByVal file As String) As String
Dim md5 As MD5CryptoServiceProvider = New MD5CryptoServiceProvider
Dim f As FileStream = New FileStream(file, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read, 8192)
md5.ComputeHash(f)
[code]....
It works fine, but when working with very large files on the network my users sometimes panic.I'd like to add a progress bar that updates based on the progress of the hashing through the file. So, my choice are either to manually create the hashing process, which I believe will be much slower,or somehow tap in to the position value of the filestream and use that to update a progress bar.I'd be happy to tap into the events of the MD5CryptoServiceProvider if I could, but I don't see anything there.I have searched the net to try to find an example and have only found code that works by reading line by line from the filestream, not from it being passed to another control/service.

This is a bit of unusual problem that I'm experiencing, but recently one of the users of a production application started reporting errors in the system. These were traced to a 503 Service Unavailable error when making a call to a web service used by the application.
Now here's the odd part, only the one user is affected by this issue. Other users of the application have not reported any errors. When the user logged on to a different machine that worked for another user, they still received the error.

I trying to run MediaViewer and I getting a debugging error, sorry, I have no idea what this is about but this is the error message: "Could not load file or assembly 'Atalasoft.Shared, Version=2.1.0.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKey Token=2b02b46f7326f73b'....."
Then it goes on to say "WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF. To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value[HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftFusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging. To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftFusion!EnableLog]. I am running Vista.

I am running on the VB8 and expirienced an error during debugging after some changes in "My project" area. I have noticed (on two different machine) that after change for example Startup Form or Security Area, I am not able to debug program any longer. An error appears, telling me that:
The Operation Could not be completed.
After clicking OK (nothing else is available) and next try of debugging, another error message appear:
Visual Studio could not copy a support file to this location: "path". Please verify the path exists and is writeable. After that, I have to close Visual Basic and restart it. Than everything works fine...till next change of "My project"

I'm having to write a reporting application that gets information from some Interbase servers and it also has to work on Vista as well as XP, I'm using to connect Borlands Data Provider.[code]My Issue is that debugging on my xp Machine the dataset gets filled, debugging on my vista box it fails ("Interbase provider initialization failed"), my initial thought was that this could be UAC related but I've compiled the application and 'ran as admin' and still same issue. (by the way it failes on the line Dim da as BdpDataAdapter...)

I am working with visual studio 2008, developing a simple windows form app. in VB. but a very weird situation has presented itself (at least I think its weird). When I try F5 or any other way to start the debugger I get this message:"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging. The debugger cannot connect to the remote computer. This may bebecause the remote computer does not exist or a firewall may be preventing communication to the remote computer. Please see Helpfor assistance."Needless to say, Help is Helpless. The weird thing about it is that this only appears if my computer is not connected to the home network and only in VB. When I try to debug on any other language it works fine, or if I connect to the network then VB debugs fine. I do not think I am using a remote debugger.

I am unable to debug any projects as of a Windows Update 2 days ago. It not only caused problems with VS 2008 but also SQL Server 2008. I did a system restore and my SQL Server is back to normal, but VS 2008 will not debug any projects. I get a vshost.exe has stopped working and then a file exception error. I am copying the file exception msg:System.IO.FileNotFoundException was unhandled

I just got Windows 7, so I re-installed VB 2008 Express and have been met with some weird issues. One of which is when my program is running it used to break on a line where an error was occurring and tell what it was and let me fix it and continue. So I can see the error in the Immediate window but why is it not breaking on the line? It just continues loading the program. Is there a setting I'm missing?

I'm using visual studio express 2008, I wrote my code for a project and then when I tried to debug it I got a few errors but one main one that says this. Visual Studio cannot start debugging because the debug target "".exe is missing Please build the project and retry, or set the output path and assembly names appropriately to point at the correct location of the target assembly. Since this is my first time debugging a program with this particular instance of the program, I am in shock. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
