I am working in vb express 2008. I got some sample code from the site www.vbhelper.com and tried to implement it as it is. Debugging of the code gave following errors:Error 1 'Protected Overrides Sub Dispose(disposing As Boolean)' has multiple definitions with identical signatures.

Everything was working just fine...then one time running the debugger and I'm given a 401.2 error from IIS Express 7.5. I created a new project and tested - worked fine. I ensured the web.config and other project settings where identical - still getting the error in the original project!

I'm trying to trigger an animation declared in the window's XAML file from the window's vb code when an event is raised (calling a function), like a window's "loaded" event.
Here's how I declare the animation (as a storyboard):

When I try to debug my program, it sometimes catches the first breakpoint, but as I step into each step, it just skips and runs the program. Is there some kind of setting that I can make in vb 2008 express that will allow me to see my code step-by-step?

I've one VB.net 1.1 based windows app. I recently added the app.config files. In code it works fine. But, when I compile the application, VS 2003 doesn't generate the appname.exe.config.(I read on google) I manually copied the app.config file to the Release folder. But the code is giving error that the file doesn't exists.

I'm just using the default SQL Server Express in my vb 2008 express edition as my database server for my database operation. When I tried to update the records on my table I got a runtime error which indicates the error on this line 'myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()'and it highlights a yellow background on it. The runtime error says "SqlException was unhandled: An expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected, near 'Number'. ".

I'm running VB2008 on Windows 7; I've written out a ver simple piece of code:

When I run or debug the code, it asks for the First Number and then just completes the running of the program without asking for the second number and uses some random number. The console.readline() doesn't work either, the console window just disappears.

Sometime when I press the run (F5) Start debugging button it does nothing. Often when I have jsut run it and made a quick correction. If left for a while it will then work! Have tried it with simple and complex projects.
Using W7 x64 - never had this problem with VB 2008 express.

I'm testing my Visual Basic .net application by running it in Visual Studio express.Sometimes it runs OK, but other times I get an exception (details below, if useful). I'm not sure why I get the exception as the particular part of the application that I am testing re-uses code that works OK for other features.
What should I check, what would give me a hint as to the root cause. Things I tried so far are: Rewriting some of the code to be more robust. The outcome of this was that this approach was getting out of control - I was correcting everything. I made changes such asing alternative libraries (e.g. replacing CInt with convertTo etc). Some lazy declarations, but it occurred to me that there was no problem with these with the code before my changes. And every change I seemed to solve uncovered yet another problem, another different exception So I thought something must be fundamentally wrong with my installation, and a search found discussion group posts from people experiencing something similar. The suggested remedy would be to re-install the .net framework. So I did that and the problems still occured.
Any thoughts on approach to get to the root of the problem? I'm not asking for a solution but some fresh ideas would be very welcome.

I'm trying to print from VB Express but it seems to be so difficult. I tried the printform component only to see the end result being blurred. I have data in one table (which will be used as the header) and data in another table (the body) which I need to print out. Seeing that the express edition does not have any reporting capabilities, I turned to several other open-source projects providing "free" reporting tools, such as MyNeoReport. MyNeoReport is acclaimed to be so good but the developer lacks a detailed tutorial for it. And the tutorial's I did manage to find are all in C#. Not helping.
How do I go about printing the data? The design is simple. Extract the company information from table A to display as the header, extract the body from table B to display as the results. I also need to calculate the totals of the body and add it to the footer or bottom of the report body. I can't seem to find any relating forums or questions similar to mine on any forum. Currently on the form, I've got a few labels, textboxes and a listview. I know I need to load the filtered data into a data grid at some point.
Is it possible to give me a detailed example of how to do this? I'm really frustrated with this whole printing thing. I don't have the finances to buy these other reporting products and the one's claimed to be free all comes with a price-tag in the small print.

MS has done it to me again. VB express was working fine and all of a sudden I cannot see any properties or publish my program. I get the following error message when trying to view any property or publish. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or what causes it. If I try to reinstall vb express I loose everything and cannot find the vb exe file anywhere on my computer.

I am primarily a web developer, mostly working with PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript. I was recently contacted by a local Sheriff's Office (small town word of mouth, nerds are always needed) to digitize a 4 page monstrosity of a form... because nobody could read the handwriting of the deputies.The catch here is that this is a small town department and, while they are fancy enough to carry computers in the field, they are not connected to the Internet. Visual Basic was the first solution that came to mind and I have been scrambling to learn the basics. I am confident in my ability to organize the content of the form and perform any necessary validation but I am unsure where to begin in terms of storing each report locally (database) and printing the end result.
Another matter that makes things complicated is the fact that they want the end result to look exactly the same as the original form, only typed instead of hand written.So, to sum things up, here are the questions I have:there seem to be several options for databases in VB 2010 Express. What is the best option for LOCAL storage of records?It looks as though the best way to format the form the exact way they want it to look with populated data would be to create a form within the application with just this content on it. Is this the best solution or might there be a better way - possibly outputting to another file? And if the data is put on another form, how would I go about printing it?

I just finished putting the first 6 datagrid controls on my form and i went to go test it and got this build error: Error 4 Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to 'System. Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTextBoxColumn'.C:SoftwareForm1.vb 1425 19..When the line generating the error is this Me.Name = "Form1".where it has the "Form1" portion underlined in blue.This is a weird error because that line was made by the IDE to say the name of the form and has nothing to do with 'System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTextBoxColumn'.I tried saving my progress and restarting the IDE with no luck..Now I cannot even access the form in designer mode,One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. Design view shows an error message with projects that I open and with new projects. I can create or edit a project using code and properties. I just can't see anything but the error message in design. I can double click a label or text box and it will be added to the form, and I can edit it, just not see the form in design view.
