Without debugging the events are raised just fine and working.However, when debugging and trying to change execution step like dragging the execution step to the raiseevent in the other condition block, the event doesn't fire.
When I try to debug my program, it sometimes catches the first breakpoint, but as I step into each step, it just skips and runs the program. Is there some kind of setting that I can make in vb 2008 express that will allow me to see my code step-by-step?

I am running Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional on a Windows 7 system. While working on the visual basic exercise in chapter 4 of the Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Step by Step book on the MyMenu program I added a Toolstrip to my form and then I was trying to perform the add OpenFileDialog and ColorDialog controls to the component tray as described at the bottom of page 111 under Using Dialog Box Controls. I could never get the controls to appear in the component tray as instructed in the book.

My problem is in button event i would like to run sub only if checkboxes are checked. All works but problem is when i have this rutines in button action then it start threading all the same time. View 1 RepliesIn the form design I set up a TableLayoutPanel, 20x20 cells and in cell (1,1) a PictureBox (called Target) containing the image of a small target. The properties box for Target shows some very promising properties, Column and Row - and if you overwrite the values in the properties box, the PictureBox obligingly shifts to the corresponding cell position in th design. However in VB it is not possible to refer to Me.Target.Row or .Column - neither appears during coding in the menu of properties, and deliberately coding either of them produces an error like
Error 1 'row' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox'.
1. Why does the properties box show properties that cannot be altered programmatically?
2. How can my program move Target around in the TableLayoutPanel?

View 3 RepliesSometime when I press the run (F5) Start debugging button it does nothing. Often when I have jsut run it and made a quick correction. If left for a while it will then work! Have tried it with simple and complex projects.
Using W7 x64 - never had this problem with VB 2008 express.
Everything was working just fine...then one time running the debugger and I'm given a 401.2 error from IIS Express 7.5. I created a new project and tested - worked fine. I ensured the web.config and other project settings where identical - still getting the error in the original project!

I'm testing my Visual Basic .net application by running it in Visual Studio express.Sometimes it runs OK, but other times I get an exception (details below, if useful). I'm not sure why I get the exception as the particular part of the application that I am testing re-uses code that works OK for other features.
What should I check, what would give me a hint as to the root cause. Things I tried so far are: Rewriting some of the code to be more robust. The outcome of this was that this approach was getting out of control - I was correcting everything. I made changes such asing alternative libraries (e.g. replacing CInt with convertTo etc). Some lazy declarations, but it occurred to me that there was no problem with these with the code before my changes. And every change I seemed to solve uncovered yet another problem, another different exception So I thought something must be fundamentally wrong with my installation, and a search found discussion group posts from people experiencing something similar. The suggested remedy would be to re-install the .net framework. So I did that and the problems still occured.
Any thoughts on approach to get to the root of the problem? I'm not asking for a solution but some fresh ideas would be very welcome.

I have a program that plays a video and uses the step function to move frame by frame backwards and forwards through the video. The forward frame works just fine:

However, the backwards step (below) jumps a full second backwards while the forwards step only steps .033 seconds forward (presumably a single frame).

I can't find any documentation about this problem online and in fact I can't find much mention of this function.the documentation does say the -1 command should step back one frame. IWMPControls2::step method Is this a known bug or is there an updated function I should be using?

Step into command F11 should work correctly according to Visual Studio 2010: Step Into Property/Function(F11) doesn't work as expected. But I when I pressed F11, I found the code is jumping from one place to another based on breakpoints, not line by line or step by step.To give an example, please see the code below

When I press F11 at line 1, it goes to the property 1. After it returns, when I press F11,it goes to property 3 directly, without accessing the code in line 2 and line 3.I do not understand why the code is NOT executed step by step by using F11. If I put breakpoingts in line 2, then line 2 is executed.So it seems to me that the showed execution order is based on breakpoints! So if I put breakpoints at different places, the showed execution order would be different! Thus, it is impossible for me to really understand the execution order.
