When i selected Build i set the build to release. Why is it so difficult to get your application published and running? It runs fine in debug but when you come to do a release build it wont run.[code]...
I am having a problem with my try catch block runs in the error "dastabase is not available". My problem is the try catch runs and catches the error, but it will not redirect to my error page. The code continues to execute the other subs. I have tried adding: exit, return, response.end. None of them worked.

My problem relates to executing an application located on a network share and getting various security exceptions in trying to do so. By far the greatest number of replies to this sort of problem relate to creating a new Code Group under Runtime Security Policy in the .NET Framework (v2 in this case) Configuration tool. However try as I might, and I've spent hours, trying various things with the config tool (and with caspol), I just cannot get my app to work.Still fails on things like reading command-line parameters and displaying a web page in a WebBrowser control or firing up a browser using Process.Start. In fact I've regressed to creating a VB6 version for this particular task as time is off the essence. Which works fine! As I mentioned lots of people have posted on this topic and not s few of them seem not to have resolved their issues either. So I was wondering if anyway had come up with a definitive solution for this problem which, in my case, seems to affect XP machines only? Seems to work OK on Vista, 7, 2003 Server, etc - although I haven't run exhaustive tests in these environments.

I have defined a list of priority programs and have written code to verify that they are running using 'Dim instance As Process'. The problem is that I can't figure out how to determine if the program has a pop-up error window like "unhandled exception" or similar window. The instance.responding still shows 'true'. How can I identify a process that is executing but has an error?

Now I am trying to publish another form which has a connection to my sql database. The publishing goes fine: publishing folder is: C:Movie-databaseApplication 4 and installation folder is the same, and I therefore leave it empty. Application is available only online. But when I execute the published setup.exe I get two windows with no info about the error: see attachment.

I'm writing a command-line application in .Net. The app itself is fairly simple, but it has to connect synchronously to a web-service, which in turn has to connect to a Oracle database, and those pieces are fond of taking their time.
Is there a straightforward way (without dividing my app exe in two) to continue executing but nonetheless yield execution to the command prompt?

I'm using Visual Studio Development Server (Visual Basic 2010) and it works fine. Now I've enabled NTLM Authorization because I want to test the website using a different user account. Now when I try to access the website I always get the following error page:
Server Error in '/' Application.
HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden.
Version Information: ASP.NET Development Server 10.0.0.0 .I'm using a test account which is a normal user within our domain. I've already set the access rights in my project folder to Full Access for this user but it does not help.

View 1 RepliesI am installing an app I built in VB, and am getting the error "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue." I have successfully built and installed this app previously. What I think caused the issue is I attached the .mdf file I have referenced in my application to my SQL Server. I then detached the database in SQL Server, opened my VB app and re-built the app. When I tried to install the app, I received the error. Attached are the details of the error message.

i made a program and used a program called Advanced Installer to put all the files from the build folder into one big install exe file to send to people but one they've installed it and go to open it they get an error saying: "the application has failed to initialize properly (0xc000135). Click on OK to terminate the application" What does this mean? do i need to have the NET framework on the machine its being run on?
