Filter Data In Datagridviews?

I have an idea, but i am not sure how to implement it with code.I have an application where a user can view current bookings for rooms.I have two datagridview controls, the first one shows the rooms and the second shows all my current bookings.What I want to be able to do or more the user, is click on a room and the current bookings for that room (datagridview1) to be shown in (datagridview2).What I think I need to do is apply a filter and a sort in a sub routine, then link my tables with a binding source.

I'm trying to generate my own dataset and create parent/child relation on the fly so that the subsequent datagridviews (dgv) that will be displaying the information will filter each child dgv by the record chosen in the parent dgv (I hope this makes sense).
So far I am able to display info in each dgv, but every record from each corresponding table is displayed in each dgv- no filtering is occuring. I think the problem might be in how I'm creating the relation and/or how I'm linking it to the dgv. Here's the code I have on the UI:

So im using the inno installer to set up my project and i found a nice script that will check and download 3.5 framework, but can't get it to work for 4.0 so my question is would i be able to compile my project in 3.5 and everything still work correctly?
My program just uses basic math functions and display the data in datagridviews. It uses webbrowser and other toolbox options. It doesn't use the registry and only creates one txt file.

I am trying to learn the new methods in .net, but, I cant see a way to step through the data like you can in an ado recordset. I want to pull data from a table once, then split the data with a filter, then step through the rows gathering the dtata till eof. Clear the filter and reset it for the next batch.

I want to filter data on the textchange event on listview so I use dataview to filter data. Issue in the below code is, I use dataview inside for each so that it checks only one condition that is last value only it takes, I want to check value in s1 with dataview and remaining value should bind with listview. E.g.: if I type an in textbox it should list all the item values starting with an value like anandha kumar, anna etc. Suppose I keep the value anandha kumar and anna in array s1. I should list all other values expect the array values like antony etc... in listview.

I have an arraylist that holds a subset of names found in my database. I need to write a query to get a count of the people in the arraylist for certain sections i.e. There is a field "City" in my database from the people in the arraylist of names I want to know how many of them live in Chicago, how many live in New York etc.
how I might set up an sql statement to handle this. I think somehow I have to pass the subset of names to sql somehow.
Here is a sample how I am writing my sql in my code

I need a way to create a function using your sql statement to return a datatable object of names and the parameters would be city, and the List of names.
The above example isnt the sql I am looking for its just a skeleton of what the function would look like that I want to create.
So then you would use the function by iterating through all the cities passing in the same set of names each time in the fron end.

I have a code which can get the MAX value of distinct "SYSID" field. Now, I plan to add a data filtering by time - Start and End time. I have tried but getting all sorts of error and can't get what I'm after for. So the program should do the data filtering (data >=starttime and data <=endtime) first before getting the max value of "SYSID"

I'm using a dataview and bind it to data grid view. Currently my data is shown nicely at data grid view, and I successfully added filter: itemDataView.RowFilter = "item_id LIKE '" & Me.txtItem_ID.Text & while itemDataView is my dataview, and txtItem_ID is a text box to allow my users entering filter parameter.
This code runs nicely, but the problem occurs when a user enter special character(s) like an apostrophe (single quote " ' ") or an opening square bracket " [ ". Is there any way so that I can escape this characters? Currently I'm replacing each one of them using text.Replace()

1) Do you typically allow Deletions, Additions, and Edits in a DataGridView?
2) Have you found any simple way to use combos in a DataGridView? (See edit below.)
3) What type of binding do you typically use on a DataGridView? Do you manually code it? Bind it to an custom BindingSource object?
I'm accustomed to programming in MS Access and I'm now working on learning VB.NET. In Access I typically use updateable DataSheet view bound forms but this doesn't allow me to separate my business logic and create a Data Access Layer. Now I'm trying to figure out how to have an updateable DataGridView in .NET together with separate layers for Business Logic and Data Access. So far I haven't really been able to make sense out the many things I'm reading about this.
I need my DataGridViews to be easily sortable, filterable, and allow up to 10,000 records to be displayed at one time. I've achieved this using ADO.Net with standard DataTables (all written in code) but all my business logic and Data Access is in the code behind my form.
Edit:I guess I was under the impression that ComboBoxes are really difficult to use in DataGridViews so that's why I had posted question #2 above. I think I need to research this a little more as it's probably not as difficult as I thought it was but it doesn't appear to be anywhere as simple as a combo in MS Access. However, I realize that MS Access has many other limitations that VB.NET does not have.

I have started a form application using visual studio 2010 express, vb programming. I'm using Access as my database.My goal is to have ComboBox1 display a ProjectID and ComboBox2 display a TestNumber. Once the Test Number is selected I want my textboxes in the form to display fields from the row that the selected Test Number is in.I have 2 tables set up right now "Projects" and "TestData". The "Projects" table has a [ProjectID] field, the remaining fields are just misc. project data. The "TestData" table also has the [ProjectID] field, and then the [TestNumber] field, then the remaining fields are misc. data.
Filling [ProjectID] in textbox1 is easy, in the properties I select DataSource from the Projects table, display [ProjectID] field. Where I'm having troubles is ComboBox2 displaying the TestNumber from the other "TestData" table. If I select that field, it fills the ComboBox with EVERY TestNumber there is. So for Project 1 there is a test 1... over 500 projects, that combobox lists 500 Test 1's, no way to tell what project it belongs to...How do I make ComboBox2 only display Test Numbers that pertain to the Project number selected in ComboBox1?Using this code I can get it to work:

I also imported system.data.oledb Problem with this code is it will only filter data in ComboBox 2 but when you make your selection from ComboBox2 it won't activate the row so none of my databinding textboxes fill anymore. Before the code/query is ran it fills up the textboxes perfectly after every selection I just have no idea what project that report number belongs to because the whole field is displayed in the dropdown. I can fill the form with ComboBoxes and they display the corresponding row data because I use a "datasource" instead of textbox "databindings" but I don't want to use 20 comboboxes as my entry form...

I am looking to find the best way to do the following: Filter data based on the drop down filters, as long as I am within the same product category (e.g. toys, puzzles, etc...), but in different web forms (product grid and product detail).So if I select toys under $25, I need the filter to the toys in a grid format, but if I click to view the detail I need the filter information so I can filter the related items display.Display certain filters depending on the product category.Right now I believe that if I build a user control and session variables that I should be able to accomplish this.
EDIT: Right now I am using the page_load event to update the data and would like to avoid AJAX for right now.
