I need to produce a list of checked entries from a CheckedListBox whenever an item changes, but that ItemCheck event gets thrown before the item's status is actually changed so the checked items list is incorrect.I found a forum post telling to use the SelectedIndexChanged event instead, but that won't work if the user checks the item using the space bar.My two alternatives are to :1. Use the ItemCheckEventArgs to figure out what item changed and how. Since the code that gets the list of checked items is a few methods down on the calls hierachy, I would need to pass the event args around (or more likely an homemade representation of its data for consistency).
2. Use a class member boolean to see if I'm in the ItemCheck event handler and set the item's checked state to its correct value before calling the method that does the processing. The boolean is used to avoid an infinite call of the event handler, it would just return without any processing in the case the event handler is in the call stack itself.
Does anyone know of a reliable way to cancel the ItemCheck event on a CheckedListBox? I am in a situation where the ItemCheck event should basically discard changes on a form, however, if the person decides to cancel the discard I would like the ItemCheck event not to fire so as not to change anything.
following code from c# to visual basic, and I'm coming up with the following error: 'Public Event ItemCheck(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs)' as an event, and cannot be called directly. Use a 'RaiseEvent' statement to raise an event.
When the checked state of a check box change, I would like to know what the new value is.his is what I am doing:Friend WithEvents clstTask As System.Windows.Forms.CheckedListBox
Private Sub clstTask_ItemCheck(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles clstTask.ItemCheck Dim SelectedCheckState As CheckState = clstTask.GetItemCheckState(clstTask.SelectedIndex)
I am an ad-hoc VB application writer to ease my day to day office activities. I started with VB6 and now using VB.net 2005.
I have a CheckedListBox (chkList01) with 130 items. By default all items are checked. Every 5min would like chkList01 to refer to a text file (list.txt) and update the checked state. The list.txt file will have a value per line (True or False) for all 130 lines. An external application will update the list.txt file every 5min.
So every 5min my application will refer to the list.txt file, and row by row see if the value of the row is true or false. If the row value is false then it will change chkList01s checked state to false.
I need to access the even procedures like textchanged, lostfoucs, changeindex of sub form so that it can be used in main form all controls placed in sub form are included in main form and hold same name and values as of sub form how should i call it from main form to access all procedure of sub form
I am having difficulties populating a checkedlistbox (CLB) based on the selection(s) made in another. It should also be noted that I have a "Select All" checkbox at the top that checks/unchecks all of the items in the first CLB. Here's the code:
[Code]...
The first CLB is populated with an arraylist of values on the button click event. Based on whatever is checked in the first CLB, corresponding values from an arraylist of structures should fill the second CLB.The following code partially works until the "Select All" checkbox is clicked at which point if other values have been selected before "Select All" is checked, the second CLB is filled with the correct number of corresponding values BUT only those of the most recently selected item of the first CLB instead of all of corresponding values of all of the items that were not already selected.
I have combo box selectedIndexChanged events going on but I cant figure out how to get the value out of them so that when i hit the btn_ProjSal that the new salaries show up in the 3 labels. Here is my code. Doing it straight from the selectedIndexChanged event this works..but to get the button to pull the new values from each of those events is my issue.
Public Class Form1 Dim _emp101Sal As Decimal = 10000.0 Dim _emp102Sal As Decimal = 11500.0
how to use transaction rollback if oops concept is follow . all function(i.e to insert or update function is written in class ) so how to use transaction in button event .
I'm pretty sure i'm not doing this right but i hope by asking this someone can show me the right path.I've created a function that creates a label and 7 checkboxes arrays . So depending how many names i get from my database, it creates that many for the label and the other checkboxes.
Now my function is inside a module which i call in my Class Form during "Load".
So what i want to do is be able to code in an event where the user checks on one of these
I have an assignment to complete, that for the most part is half way done, the application starts with the number zero (0) and anytime the count button is pressed, the a one (0) should be added to the output label?
Public Class CounterForm Private Sub countButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles countButton.Click countTotalLabel.Text = Val(countButton.Text) + 1 End Sub End Class
I got a combobox, that when the texted is changed, its supposed to run a query to update a field in my database. Here is the issue The event im using is TextChanged, well unfortunately when the page loads, it changes the text when populating the values. Is there a way to make this event wait to fire until after the list is populated? Ive ran into this problem before with datetimepickers, but I was able to offset it with a boolean, but this combobox is calling the textchanged event everytime it adds an item to the list.
On the KeyDown event of the textbox, i need to capture the character pressed and send it to a function which fires a sql query for this character. To get the character i am using Convert.ToChar(e.keycode).However Convert.Tochar converts the keycode to char according to its ASCII value , thus F4 gets converted to "s" as "s" has ASCII keycode of 115.Is there some other way to convert the keycode to character which won't make these wrong conversions as even if i restrict the functions keys there may be problem with other key conversion also.
I'm programming something and I have it set to where if you leave the text box blank then a message box comes up and tells you to enter a value to move on to the next text box [code]Now whats currently happening is if I click the exit button and leave the name text box blank the error i programmed will come up and tell me to enter a name. I want to be able to click the exit button while no text is entered in the name text box bypassing the error message.
I have a project with many forms on it, some of them are dialog forms, some of them are mdi children of my master form. What I need to do is when a user press the ESC button on his keyboard to dispose the form that is working on. either is mdi or dialog form. I know that I can use the event of the form key down and then check the key code if is the esc to dispose the form, but this is not I looking for since I will have to pass from all my forms and create that event. Is there any other way when my master form is load to create my own event for any form load event? And trigger it from there to assigne my custom code for ESC key. So I will not have to pass from all the forms to create that event.
vb.net Module Module1 Public Event Event1(Value as Boolean)End Module
I want to be able to handle this event from different forms. This is what I tried to do...
vb.net Public Class Form1 Private Sub Event1Handler(Value As Boolean) Handles WindowsApplication1.Event1 End SubEnd Class
But I get a squiggly line under WindowsApplication1 that says Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types. I tried to swap Module1 in, but same thing. I tried without anything in front of Event1, but still nothing.
I am trying to build a application where I can add another .exe program to a button_Click Event. I want this exe program to be run from within my Program so I can remove them from my pc and have them all contained within my new application.
I have a question regarding VB.Net and Object-oriented programming.
I have a solution consisting of two projects.
One project is dedicated to the logic of the application, and one is only to show the Winforms form, and to reflect changes made in the logics project. In other words, when an array filled with various attributes residing in the logics project gets changed, then these changes should be reflected on the form (not that strange in theory).
Here comes the - for me - really tricky part:
I have created user controls, and these are residing in the forms project and placed on the aplication's form. When I click on any one of them, their respective onclick sub gets called okey, but how can I send a message to the logics project from their onclick subs? Basically, I'm not sure on what should be private or not, or possibly how to call the other project correctly. In any case, I can't get it to work.
To sum up: What I need is a line of code calling a class in another project, and someone telling me what should be private, static etc.
I got a Sub which processes a code, and then it does whatever the code said. Example.
Code = "Black" -> Turns screen black. Code = "OFF" -> Turns off the PC. And so on.
If I call that Sub from Immediate console, It works perfectly. But if that Sub is called from an event, It does nothing, and usually throws an Exception. I read somewhere that I can fix this by using Threads, but I don't understand how that can help and make it work.
I am in development mode VB 2005 Pro in WinXP, I have a command button called Button2, with some code in the Click event. I Cut the button and immediately Paste it onto a Group (ie. Frame) on the same form. The Button2 properties still say Name = Button2. I double click the button expecting to view the Click event code, but it opens a new Click event called HTML
I would like MyProcess() to fire when I click on any of several checkboxes. I could do it like this. [code]I have alot of checkboxes, and anyway, this method isn't very scalable. Is there any other way for a form (or panel maybe) to detect mouse events on child controls kind of like the way the KeyPreview property of a form allows it to detect key events of it's child controls?
I am trying to create a form where depending on what the user selects, they are shown a collection of images from the web. Depending on what they select there will be a different amount of images so each picture will need to be added dynamically.
I am able to create PictureBoxes dynamically however I'm stumped how to create event handling in order for each control to give a unique response. This is what I originally tried but I got an error..
Private Sub Form1_Load For i=0 To 10 Dim picBox As PictureBox
[code]....
The error I got was
'AddressOf' operand must be the name of a method (without parentheses)
How ridiculous that you can't include arguments in your AddressOf! Can anyone shed some light on my situation (or knows a better way of carrying out my goal)?
I've created a form to handle "frequently asked questions". In the form I have five Drop-Down Combo Boxes and I want the user to be able to select one of the questions listed in the drop down boxes and have it return a "message box" with the answer to the question. Naturally I'll have different "answers" for each question, but my initial efforts have me getting my message box as soon as I click on the drop-down arrow itself, and I don't want that triggered until I click on the specific question.
I have a form that depending on results from a table would create a number of buttons using code at runtime. This could range from 1 to 20 buttons. What I am struggling with is creating a generic mouse over event for each of these buttons? The reason why I want a generic mouseover event is that depending on the text on the button I would do certain things, instead of duplicating the same code in individual mouseover events. I am writing in VB.Net.
