i have a combobox that is linked to a database, but when an item is selected it is changing the name of the top item to the selected name. im sure this is happing because it is its text value and not it selectitem value, is there anyway to stop text input so it becomes a selected value rather than a text property

The query I'm using does not allow nulls but the ComboBox is showing black areas and the user can click in those areas.

However, the SelectedValueChanged event fires once when I set the datasource and again when I set the valuemember. In both instances there is a selected value, although that value was not selected by any user action, but rather because of the loading of the combo box.I don't think there's a 'SurpressEventFiring' property for the combobox, so how to you check to see if the change in the selection was a result of user action and not data loading?Perhaps I'm populating my combobox wrong?

However when I add the plain XML to the form field it semi-escapes it for me. So then when I use HTMLEncode myself part of the XML is double-escaped. How do I prevent the automatic escaping that appears to becoming from .NET.
Or even better how else can send the escaped XML via the hidden field.

In VB.NET I've got two forms, on first one I have button, on second - two textboxes and "OK" button. I want to run procedure (Sub) on first form, then stop in the middle of it and wait for input on the second form. After that i want to process the data received from second form.

I'm looking to create a counter that counts to 25 and loops back around again with a button control and another button control to stop it. So I press a button to start and another to stop and I want it to display the number it stopped on. Is this possible? and how do I do it if it is? When I click the Start button, the serial port gets initialized, opened, and then I go into a Do-Loop-Until loop to process the incoming data stream, and that is suppose to stop when the Stop button is pressed.
