Forms :: Writing Data From A DataGridView To A Text File?
Feb 17, 2010
I have been using this code, see below, to try and write data from the DataGridView to a text file. It works but it puts an extra comma after each line and thinks that there has been another line so puts an extra 4 commas on a new line. So the text file looks like this:
9,Here to There,1,15,
8,Hell to Heaven,16,34,
I'm looking for any help for a way to get rid of the extra commas or an entirely different way of doing this whole process.

I am almost done with writing a program for my nephew and am stuck on trying to input text from a file into a textbox for statistical viewing. I have searched all over the internet and not yet found anything that works.
Here is what I am trying to do.
MathQuiz.txt
Date/Time You got ? questions out of 20 questions correct!
Date/Time You got ? questions out of 20 questions correct!
I need the "Date/Time You got ? questions out of 20 questions correct!" to be copied from the txt file and inserted into a Rich Textbox named rtbStats.

The program that I am writing has three default variables that I would like it to store and also be able to change. I have them in a text file called "settings.txt" The format of the text file is as follows:
Default Source "I:DCIM101MSDCF"
Default Destination "C:Documents and SettingsChristyMy DocumentsMy Pictures"
Default Backup Destination "D:My DocumentsBackupMy Pictures"
The field descriptions eg "Default Source" take up 30 characters, so the variable data starts with character 30. I know their has to be an easy way just to pull out the data from a particular line starting with character 30 but I can't find it.

Even a primer on just reading/writing to a text file would be golden. The array confuses me further, but understanding the data is primary.
Basically, we're writing a program to manage inventory for a bar. Fields and a few lines are below. The delimiter is "||"
So... How do we read the data into the arrays? NAME would be strName(), etc for all of them.
how to write and update existing data.
UID||BREWERY||NAME||SIZE||FORMAT||SEASONAL||PRICE||CASECOST||CASEQTY||BREWERYLOCATION||BREWSTYLE||ST YLE||ABV||CLASS
A0101.12B||Abita Brewing Company||Abita Amber||12

I save data from datagridview to text file. I also load the same data from text file into datagridview for edit and update the same thing to text file. Let say this text file i called as Drill.txt. I have another text file called header.txt which need to match its value with the value of Drill.txt file then overwrite value from Drill.txt to header.txt. Now i want to make my Drill.txt in encrypted format to prevent anyone to open that file and modify out of program. They only can modify it through the program

I have a datagridview which have 5 columns. The name of the columns are T,C,F,S,H.

T236C1.2F029S48H2000

I want to export data from a DataGridView to a CSV/text file. I then also want to be able to load that same CSV/text file and populate that same DataGridView at a later point in time. My information is loaded into columns in the DataGridView. That is, I am not using rows to represent records, I am using columns. As such, I need to load all the data in each column and export this, by column to the CSV/Text file. Likewise, when I load the control from the CSV/text file, I need to load each column with this information.How do you export/import from/to a DataGridView controlHow do you organize the data in the CSV/File

Write a program that requests a color as input in a text box and then determines whether or not the color is in the text file. The program should use the Boolean-valued Function procedure IsCrayola that returns the value True if the color in the text box is a Crayola color.

This is my first post in the community. I am putting together a program that serves two functions:1. Takes input from TextBoxes and writes it to a text file.2. Takes the text from the text file and displays two specific strings of text in a MessageBox.This is the code for the button that writes the input to file.
Private Sub facSubmitButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles facSubmitButton.Click

I am working on a program for work and I am stuck on trying to make a new XML file from VB.NET 2010. I have the old code which was done in C# and it works but even using a C# to VB converter didn't help. I will paste in both the C# and what I have in VB
private void webBrowser1_Navigating(object sender,
WebBrowserNavigatingEventArgs e)

It is supposed to not only create the file but launch a program called PowerScribe and find the case in the Field 6 section.

I have just recently been using VB 2010 after using VB5. I have noticed a lot of changes. The problem I have is that I wish to open and save text files to and from arrays in the background. I've attached what I would do in VB5. I have searched around, but all the examples I find use a Textbox instead of an array. Can anyone show me how I can do this with VB 2010?

I am attempting to gather a group of file names from a directory. I am able to do this. I tested the code by having the list populate into a listbox and all desired items were added to the list.
Here is my code:
Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo(strPath)
Dim dir1 As IO.FileInfo() = di.GetFiles("*.txt")
Dim dFiles As IO.FileInfo
ListBox.Items.Add(dFiles)
However, a listbox is not my desired output. I am attempting to write these file names to a text file for purposes of then parsing the information to a datatable to compare with another datatable. How to get my filenames written to a textfile.

We have some information that we need to write (about 18KB) to a .txt file stored in one of our network drives. The file is re-written about once every 15 minutes but is read practically at least every second. We are currently using StreamWriter to write file.The file server is in remote location and the round trip ping varies from <1ms to 15ms.
The problem is, sometimes it takes as long as 6 seconds to write the contents to the file, which is definitely way too long even after we take consideration of the network speed. therefore, I am just wondering if there is any efficient way to write the file using VB.Net to improve the performance? Java has a very good tool named BufferedOutputStream, which unfortunately is not available in VB.Net (or I just have not found it).
