I am using Environment.CurrentDirectory to get the current directory, i.e. "D:ChuttuProjectsLICinDebug"
But, I want to remove "inDebug"
How can I do that? Or is there any way so that I can get the directory up to "LIC"?
Actually this is my connection string:
Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|LIC.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
But when I use this and try to insert data into the DB, the data is not inserted. When I use the connection string with a physical path it starts working:
Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=D:Chuttu VBProjectsLICLIC.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
I am trying to get the physical path of the mdf file and use it in the connection string.
EDIT:
This piece of code works fine:
Private Sub save()
Dim con As New SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=D:Chuttu VBProjectsLICLIC.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True")
[Code].....

I am trying to read and display a file using MapPath as follows :
Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf"
Dim FilePath As String = MapPath("../Document/123.pdf")
Response.WriteFile(FilePath)
Response.End()
This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.

I'm using acrobat that returns unix paths instead of windows path's. So im wondering if there is a way in vb.net to convert the path to windows path.
i tried using:
docs(i) = javaScriptObj.path().ToString.Replace("/", "").Substring(1)
position = docs(i).IndexOf("")
docs(i) = docs(i).Substring(0, position) + ":" + docs(i).Substring(position + 1)
this only works on local files, but fails when im starting to use network drives.

I need a method to know iis current wwwroot in VB.Net.
I need to get this information outside a web project (otherwise the problem would have a simple solution). I think I need to read this information from the registry, but I have no idea where to start looking.

I'm new to VB .Net and I've searched for this info in the help files, but couldn't find it.When I save a project it automatically saves it to "C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataTemporary Projectsfilename".I want to be able to set this path ahead of time to where I want it to go. I've set a path in the Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions > General tab (under Project Location), but it doesn't use it.

I know that here there is a similar question but I would like, if possible, to be able to define a relative path for 'Start External Program' or any workaround that do not constrain me to add a complete new empty project to my solution. I am using VB.NET in Visual Studio 2010 environment developing WinForms apps.

Is there any literature which guides a user through the steps of deploying a vb project created with VS 2010 Professional and incorporating SQL 2008RE Database?
I have a VB project which incorporates 2 databases - 1 Access Db and 1 SQL Db. The project compiles and runs beautifully. However, after adding the databases in the project as existing items and deploying, the project opens/runs, but when I try to login the application I keep getting an error message telling me that the path to the .mdb (Access) database is not a valid path. I don't have a clue what else to do.

Is there a better way of finding the path of a file that was opened with the open file dialogue? This is what I did. It works, but it seems like there should be a way to get the path through one of the open dialogue options.

'm_PicSource is a global var
Dim strCnt As Integer = m_PicSource.Length - 1
