I have an access database with one table and 4 or 5 different fields.
All I need to do is be able to be able to use a loop to read the values in a specific row and column and store it in a variable (or array).
I don't need the code for the loop or anything, just the syntax for reading the value of a specific row and column in a table to a variable.
I'm converting a library from C# to VB.net which so far hasn't been too difficult. One class though implements IEnumerable and IEnumerator and contains a block of code like this:

So the return type of this function is a string, but I would like to get it back to its original form so I can access the individual sections i.e. o_LocationCode,o_CustomerNumber, etc how can I do that ?

No errors on run time but the string seems to be just blank, thats why i was wondering how I convert the string back to the array so I can access the individual elements.

View 1 RepliesI made a DLL that is a UserControl that has a TabControl with one TabPage on it. On the TabPage is a Panel & on the Panel are some controls.how can I access the individual components of the UserControl from the application that is using the DLL? I have added a reference to the DLL & can add the UC to a form, but I would like to have access to the child controls of the UC, ie. change the text of a Label that's on the Panel. Do I need to do something when I create the DLL to cause those controls to be accessible?

Each Table has only one column called Picture, and that column is filled with the names of pictures (picture1, picture2, picture3, etc)
Thing is, that The pictures in TableA have equivalent pictures in TableB. They are not named the same, but the pictures themselves are the same i.e.: TableA Picture1 = TableB Picture3, TableA Picture2 = TableB Picture5.
What i Would like to create is a form that has two datagrids, or Listboxes populated with the data from each table. One for TableA, One for TableB. When the User selects a picture from one of these controls, The other control must show which picture the selected one corresponds to (if i select TableA Picture1, TableB Picture3 becomes selected showing that they match)
I think that most of the work will be at the actual DB, somehow linking each and every field, maybe a one to one link between fields/cells in the DB, then in VB calling that one record that was clicked on, seeing what relation it has to the other table,

This program is very difficult for me, but I must get threw it or I cannot finish... What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. Now, the trick is, I need to have it where each Estimate can have its own individual parts list. It needs to be this was as each estimate could have just one part, or many parts. How can I do this effectively? I already have the tables and the layout of the app, I just need to get it all connected up.

I have three buttons and I have a panel with the details bound to the database (not a datagridview, but the other option that you can drag onto the form: "details")
When the user presses button 1 I want the row with "ID 1" to be displaied in the details. Likewise for buttons two and three. (The user will later be able to edit the names and save the changes, so this is why I want to use ID as the selector)
I have been looking at things like "selected key" and "selectedindex" but I can seem to find a way to populate the details. I tried to make a query serach but it's not working (i think beacuse ID is the identity seed?)
* I added the picture to try and explain better what I am trying to do. the part in the middle is bound to my database. It shows my database in in "details" form, not sure if it has a special title.. the others are obviously buttons. I want the middle parts to show the selected row. Using the navigator bar above I can type 3, hit enter, and it will show me row 3.. I want to emulate this idea but using the buttons.
I am retrieving the data from AD and sending it to th CSV file. but the data is not coming in Column1,column2 and Column3. View 1 RepliesI have a bit of a problem. I am using an Access database to hold data for my VB app. In the VB app, I have a data source thats pulling data from the database.
I modified the database today, deleted some tables, added another one, but the data source in the project window does not show these updated changes. I had to reconfigure the datasource with the wizard to get the changes to update.
Is there a way that i can get the data source to update itself when the form loads?
