Keystroke Combination And Having It Invoke A Textbox Or Datetimepicker Field?

May 18, 2009

let me explain in more detail so you don't get the wrong idea of what I'm trying to accomplish.If I have a button object, say Button1, on my form and I select it with my mouse, it brings up another form or dialog. If in the text field property of Button1 I enter &Button1, the B will have an underscore under it and if I hold down the Alt key and press b, it too will invoke the other form or dialog. I would like to also have the capability to do that with a datepicker field or textbox field.

Right now, I can set up several buttons with Alt-keystroke combos that work by default, but it seems like I have to write some form of keystroke intercept routine and test for the conditions I'm looking for and force the focus to the datepicker or textbox. Am I missing something? Is there a better way to do this? Or is there actually a way of setting up a label on a textbox or datepicker object.

Kind of like when you're using MS Access and building a report, the fields have a leader that you can type a label in. That's what I'm looking to do. So if the label part of the datepicker field says Date: if I press and hold the Alt key and press d, it will invoke the datepicker field (aka open the calendar for selection).

2008 Count Lines In Textbox With Multiple Lines Using Label To Display The Numbers?

Sep 3, 2009

how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.

example:

1-pauljaones
2-tommyperrry
3-marktoms
4-Jonessmith
5-paulwhite

Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.

Display Queried Results In Textbox Where Criteria In Another Textbox 1 Form

Jun 21, 2010

I have a database I am creating with about 50 users over a network. There are about 6 groups of users and these users are spread across 10 branches. I want to block/allow users from particular forms and views. For example I want branch users forms to be filtered by their branch number but depending on the group they are in they can only see some forms. i.e. 50 users, 10 branches, each branch has about 5 ppl of where 1 is in group A and 4 are in group B. I want all users that belong to branch 1 to see the information they enter, but Group B enter data but cannot approved or delete, and group A can enter, approve and delete. So then. On my login form I have the user type his/her username but the i want LEAVE function to update 2 textbox where I have named GroupName and BranchNo. Basically to run a query and look for the username and return in one textbox that user's groupname and the other textbox the user's branch no. This information will be used to filter forms and block the user from certain controls. This is the code I have so far but still can't figure how to display the results.

Private Sub UsernameTextBox_Leave(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles UsernameTextBox.Leave
'Make Connection to database

[Code].....

It keeps highlighting the BranchNumber and UserGroup and giving error "Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to System.Data.OledbCommand

Display Multiple Tables From XML In DataGridView

Jun 21, 2010

I am attempting to read an XML and display certain portions of the XML in a datagridview. I was able to get one table at a time, but I am having trouble figuring out how to get ALL the info I want from the XML and not just one table at a time.

I was speaking to someone and they told me that my issue is that the dataset contains datatables and it's not just one big piece of information that I can use. I looked into merge code, but I haven't managed to get anything working the way I would like.[code...]

Multiple Databases Information Display?

Jul 7, 2011

I currently have an old database that has tables for requests and customers. This information is currently displayed in ASP.NET

What I was required to do, was to connect a new database for users into this system, while keeping the tables for the requests in the old database. Thus it is using 2 databases. I have set it up so, when a user creates a new request, in the request tables it saves it with his userID from the new database, but when the table is being displayed, it uses this new userID to find the user information from the old customers table. Thus I ended up with this:

Sub BindDataGrid()
cmdoledb = New SqlCommand("SELECT r.customerid, r.RequestID, R.RequestDate, R.RequestDescription, a.AssignedTo, r.Urgency, r.ExCompletionDate from tbl_requests r, tbl_assignedto a where r.statusid = 1 and r.assignedtoid=

[Code]....

Currently it displays nothing, and gives out an error for myItem.Value = rdr.GetInt32(0) being a Null. I went through it step by step and it loads customerids normaly into the myItem.Value, but when they run out, it is supposed to exit, but keeps going, thus giving an error.

Display Multiple Lines Of Data In A List Box?

Apr 1, 2012

I'm new to Visual basic (which will be obvious from my question) and am writing program that does various calculations, then displays the results in a list box. the results, however, are all concatenated, end don't each appear on a new line. I tried adding a carriage return/line feed at the end buit the compiler rejected it.

I can't find any examples of creating a list box, and adding multiple entries (one for each time a loop is performed), nor of how to use columns to make the resulting display cosmetically pleasing.

VS 2008 - Unable To Specify Multiple Display Members?

Jul 2, 2010

Using data binding and ado i am controlling a listbox selection (draws from an access database) based upon a combobox selection. Problem is i want to display more than just one column.The code i am currently using specifies the displaymember and value member on form load. However, i cant seem to be able to specify multiple display members.

Heres the code i am using on load.

Bindingsource1.datasource = a_dtBuilding
Listbox1.datasource=Bindingsource1
Listbox1.displaymember = "Building"

Im sure this is easily solved although i have read i should use a listview instead of a listbox for this.

Asp.net - .NET Combination Of For Each..Next And Do..While?

Mar 21, 2011

I have an array like so:

Dim classes() as String = {"FR%", "SO", "JR", "SR", "SR5"}

I need to loop through these values like so:

For Each value as String in classes
Next

Problem is, I have a If..Then..Else clause inside of this For Each..Next which says something to the effect of:

If actual_class = value Then
txt.Text = "Welcome"
Else
txt.Text = "Goodbye"

When I run this, unless the individual is the last value in the string array ("SR5") they are going to get the message "Goodbye"...so, I need somehow to both iterate through each value like is done with a For Each..Next loop but also break out of the loop once it hits the student's class, like a Do..While loop - so that their value doesn't get overrun by the Else clause.
