How To Dynamically Create Array Lists

I have to retrieve same amount of datas from a variable number of clients in an arraylist. I know I can put arraylists in arraylists but would be easier to get one arraylist for each client dynamically declared.
Ex: alClients (XXX, YYY, ZZZ)
for i as integer = 0 to clientsNumber -1
Dim nameVariable = "al"+ alClients(i) ' = alXXX
Dim nameVariable as New arraylist()
...
Next
But it seems not to be possible to do that so is there a way to do it? By surcharging constructor of the Class New ArrayList(), ok but how??

I need to show a drop down list when the page loads, the default selected value is nothing, or an empty element (such as "-"). When the user selects one value from the list, another drop down list is added below the first one, and so on.My problem with this is how you make the page to remember the drop down lists created through postbacks and the values they have selected?
EDIT: I did this example for dynamically add drop down lists and suscribe them to an event handler but the event won't fire.
EDIT 2: Changed the code because I labelled for VB.Net and posted something in C#. I update the code with some trivial improvements, but still won't fire the event :(

I would like to format output to a property of a custom control I have made.For instance I have a literal control in my control and when populated I want to check if it is longer than 30 characters long, if so, then go to the next space (as to not cut the word off) after the 30th character and place a <br /> tag in to place the next 30 characters on the next line.So if there were 100 characters in a string, there would be 3 line breaks in the label.I have the looping worked out to get the label populated but cannot get how to dymaically create the array based on the string lenth property and index of method.

i have used in vba 3 dimensional jagged arrays where i had up to 10000 rows. i am now transferring this to vb.net and learnt that it would be better to work with lists. the dimensions are such as (30, 10000, 30). how would i structure this by using lists?

I've managed to make some single dimension array lists but I can't figure out a multi dimension arraylist.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have a database (mdb) with 5 columns that I want each row to be in an array list.
In PHP what I'd typically do is:
$array[$field1] = array($field2,$field3,$field4,$field5);
How I do the same in vb.net so anytime I need to fetch an item for a specific for the row1 I could call it?
For a single dimension I could do the following, but I can't figure out how to add more fields to a single array row:
Dim tmpArrayX As New ArrayList
tmpArrayX.Add(field(0))
tmpArrayX.Add(field(1))
etc...

I have two array list same size, depending on the information gathered by previous functions. The size of the arrays range from 2 - 45 in length, both arrays always have the same length. I am trying to match one string in one array to another string in the second array. When they match then add Item to List.

and it works but when I run the project each item is duplicated - this is because list is populated twice. First when user add a control to form, second by designer when project is started.I already found a solution to prevent adding items in edit mode, but this is not what I need. I would like to have them existing in edit mode so they could be edited at this point.

how to assign a 1-dimensional array value I get from a function directly into an element in a 2-dimensional array. An example would be

I have a form with a textbox to enter a number and a button called "Create". When a user enters a number and clicks create the form gets populated with the number of buttons entered in the textbox and the title of the buttons are labeled by consecutive numbers. For example if you enter 5 the form will populate with 5 buttons labeled button1, button2, ...button5. When you click on these newly created buttons a messagebox will popup stating the buttons name. I want to monitor more than 10 folders on different machines by using SysTemFileWatcher. I create a class called Watcher for doing monitoring. So, for each folder I have to call that class once with a new thread. I want to name each thread with its own name like: T1, T2, T3 ... for easier controlling them. It is not nice if I declare each thread like:
