I am unable to read from the text file in VB. I want to read the contents for text file and store them in array. See my code below and the text file. How should I read this text file.

I'm trying to build something called a structure which will store data it retrieves from a text file. I want to get all the words before the tab into one array or to create a new text file and the all the words after the tab into another array or create a new text file too.
Here my function to get the words before tab into an array :
Protected Sub MakeWordListBeforeTab() Dim filename As String = "D:lao0001.txt" 'read from file'
[Code].....
I wrote the above function to get all words before tab but I got all the words into array. I've been trying to use the Split method above. What is another method to split those words ?
I know this can be done with regular expression but I don't know regex yet. If you can show me how to get this done with regex it'll be awesome.
Is there a class or something I can add to be able to read an email?I really want to be able to make a real email client (like outlook). Is it possible with vb.net?
I am trying to create the following program Store in a 1d array a set of 5 place names and in a 2d array the distances between the places. Ensure that the order of the places is the same in both arrays. When the names are places are input the distance between them is displayed. If they are not both in the table a suitable message is displayed
Dim town(1 To 5) As String
Dim Dist(1 To 5, 1 To 5) As Integer
Dim First As Integer
[CODE]......................
I think the best way forward is pass a parameter to the function findnumber.
I'm creating a program which you can fill in a number of boxes and then send it as an email. I would like to know if there is a way to create some form of array out of all my textboxes so that i can save time on the email. For example,
I want to take a string from a text box and split each letter of the string into an array. Then, I want to take the first item in the array(the first letter of the string)and capitalize it. Once I've done all that, I want to combine the array and convert it back to the original string it was, except I want the first letter to be capitalized(I've already placed this into a variable.)
Here's what I've come up with so far:
[Code].....
how to combine the array back to a string except I replace the first letter of the original string with the "firstLetter" variable I created.
For a To-do list program, I am trying to use something like this to get the textbox (txtlast) to show the string held in the array, but the text box just keeps coming up blank..... why is this? txtLast.Text = Arrnumbervalue(IntYear, IntMonth, IntDay, IntHour)
I am currently working and a vb. net project and would like to know how I can save the contents that I enter into a texbox on my form into an array which I defined in a class. Class:
Dim dt As DataTable = MyClass.DatabaseRecordsetCall() Dim str(dt.Rows.Count) As String
If dt IsNot Nothing AndAlso dt.Rows.Count > 0 Then For Each row As DataRow In dt.Rows
str.SetValue(row.Item(0).ToString, dt.Rows.IndexOf(row)) Next End If
This is the code I am using to populate a string array to use as an autocomplete source for a textbox. The datatable has 17 rows in it. However, it creates the string array with a length of 18.Just an FYI, if you try to use an autocomplete source that contains a value = nothing, it will cause your application to crash. No, not cause an exception which could be dealt with, but a solid inexplicable, pull your hair out, scream and curse because you cannot figure it out crash. The microsoft message that comes up references the file browseui.dll.The above code as is, will generate an extra array value whose value WILL equal nothing and cause this crash to happen.
I want to reading in a excel file and extract the sCodenumber sDescription ans the sStatus and store them in a array : StatusComposeArray(5200) As MyCompose. I am trying to bind a textbox to a binding source (using the IDE DataBindings Editor) and it works fine except for one thing: if I delete the text I get the subject error. What I want to happen is the datarecord field be updated to a dbnull value -- how do I get that to happen?
I have text in a textbox and I want to convert it to an array. If I declare the variable as an array, I get an error saying you can't do that. If I don't declare it as an array, I get an outside range exception. Is there any way around this limitation?

Im writing a program where im trying to split some text imported from a textfile into a textbox into an array. The array is undefined and i would like each piece of text to be an element in the array. I would then like to sort this information into alphabetical order. This is the code I have at present; I apologise if any appears to be out of sequence or whatever, VB is a rather puzzling language to myself!
PS i have the code behind a button as you can tell from the code.
Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim textInput As String textInput = TextBox1.Text

[Code] This is the coding i have used to a datagrid with textbox and combobox column. What I'm trying to do is get text from a control that hasn't been created yet. Once this control is created I want the program to query whats in the textbox by string, and then display this text in a message box. I've tried it a few different ways, none of which have worked. Heres some code that may give you an idea of what I'm trying to do.
Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click For Each Textbox In Me.Controls If Textbox.Name = "nb0" Then MsgBox(Me.Newbox.Name("nb0")) End If
I've also tried using Messagebox.show and a few various ways of trying to declare nb0 without actually declaring it. Is it possible to show text in a textbox by string?
See asteriks ***below for the problems: There is text in CStr(rdrPlayers("PlayerName")) and the textbox for loop is 15 so why the extra textbox's 6 thru 15 (1 to 15 then 6 - 15 under them 6 is visable others are out of panel display I shortened my code below
