I am a beginner in network programming with VB 6, I am a beginner in network programming with VB 6,I wanted to ask is how the VB 6 source code to know the bandwidth usage of each client in an Internet cafe, we as a server at the cafe, suppose that we had five clients that are connected directly to server, on the server so we know the bandwidth usage of the clients.

I'm using a webservice to update some data to server.my webservice is written in asp.net and vb.i'm invoking it from a windows application(vb.net) but when my webservice is running it uses the complete bandwidth of my internet connection. is there any way to alllocate a particular bandwidth to this webservice sothat it wont affect other applications using internet?

All transfer of information is directly from the server to each client. I would like to sleep for packetSize/Bandwidth amount of duration for a network application in VB. This value varies from "10^-3 - 10^-6" seconds.When I use the Sleep() func, I think it is not sleeping for the duration if it is less than unity (< 1 sec ~~ 0 sec??).
Edited:I have to keep sending packets after a short nap of above range. So, I could not specify, for eg., to sleep for 0.001 milli seconds at the client side.My requirement is for the client side of CS app, which reads a file and keeps sending small packets at regular or irregular interval of sleeps to the Server. The Server, later, captures the packets and processes it at its own rate..

I have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.

I have an application that takes a series of reports and sends them as attachments in an email to a specified group of email accounts.
When I run the Java version of this using apache commons and the same setting, the email is sent. However, when I run the VB.NET version of the code, it fails on my local machine and on the client machine.
I have a VB.NET web application running on a server that uses similar code. I tried that code locally and it fails. Yet, the web application is working perfectly.
Why is it that the Java application can send the email, but the .NET application cannot?[code]....

Im using the code from [URL] as a starter, most of the code is the same. the chat system works fine but on the client a added a disconnect button "clientSocket.Close()" and as soon as i click that i get errors, on the client, this is the code...

The below code (VB 2008) will check the print queue every milisecond for a job. It will then show the pagecount in a text box. It works great when im printing to a local printer, but As soon as I change my pc default printer to a network printer, I cant capture any data.

I am dynamically adding values to list with each pass of a timer and after each pass I'd like to check if the last five elements in the list have similar values. After some time, the values should start to become constant. In other words, it would plateau.I tried to do this. Made sense to me (newbie) but I am getting errors like the bounds of the array are exceeded:[code]The list definitely works and is getting data from X. I am trying to create a windows service that sits in the background waiting for programs to be started. When the programs start I want to be able to check a unique bit of information for each program (I believe GUIDs may provide this) to see what the program is. If the program is not allowed, I aim to provide a warning to the user and possibly close the program. The aim of the application is to identify when users are attempting to install additional software on to the computer so simply monitoring for a certain executable wouldn't work as msiexec is called for all MSI's and as I only want to stop blacklisted programs...this wouldnt work

I have a SqlConnection global variable in my proyect that it is always open (I wouldn't like to start a discussion about keep the connection open all the time or close it everytime a transaccion is executed).
This variable is sent to every class I need to execute a function or method. Instead of checking the connection in every single operation, is there any way to monitor the connection state in a centralized way ?
