I created a website in VWDE 2010, and I was trying to code the login page that gets automatically created with a new web site in vb. owever, the vb file doesnt recognize some of the items on the aspx page, for instance: the username textbox is called "username". in the vb file, when I wrote username.text etc etc, and then I debugged it, it gave me error " 'username' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. Why is it doing that? It's under a Protected Sub, but why should tht interfere?
I am coding an asset management system for telecom as my major project. It features submitting asset information, retrieving an asset information by entering the id of the user responsible for it,checking the number of live, stock and scrap assets and downloading it in an excel file and updating any asset information if needed. It has an admin login to it and even a change password form.
I've implemented with Visual Basic 10 an application for Net Framework 4 with functionality to send files via e-mail using System.Net.Mail. It works well except when it comes to sending an XML file whose name contains accents. In the latter case the UTF-8 name is not correct, so Widows Mail Life presents him with name consisting of a set of meaningless characters. Furthermore, the content has lost the format of lines and spaces, presented part of MIME type information in the header, so that it is unreadable XML readers. However, with a name without accents is sent successfully.[code]....
I want to play system sounds with .NET code in my app - no problem if I want to use Beep, Asterisk etc as I can just use: My.Computer.Audio.Play SystemSound(Media.SystemSounds.Asterisk)But what if I want to play something like 'Menu Pop-up'? This sound is off by default in the Windows Default Sound Scheme, but if the user has set this sound up to do something then I want to play it.The user could have assigned any wav file to this action so I want to find which (if any) sound they have assigned and play it. Compatibility with Windows versions back to XP is also essential.

I am not sure if it is possible, but I would like to be able to provide a custom "SelectedHighlight" color when an item is selcted in both a treeview and a listview (Better yet, any) control.
While I am a fan of sticking with established convention in most cases, There are times and places when I would like to do this.
A. Is it possible to do this? And by possible, I am looking to Override the Default system SystemHighlight at runtime, for only a particular control. I am NOT looking to change global system settings (at least, outside of any time when the particular control has the focus.
B. I haver tried a few searches, and I will contiinue (Try searching for any combination of "System", Color", "Selection", and "Highlight" and see what comes back!).
I have a VB Web Site project that has recently (and mysteriously) stopped importing the "System" namespace by default.
I'm having to either place an Imports System line at the top of each code behind, or preface everything with System, which is fairly annoying, not to mention redundant. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the System namespace back to being imported by default.
I've already checked to see that WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727CONFIGweb.config contains the <add namespace="System"/> line--it does. That was my best lead.
I have references to several namespaces within the System namespace in the <assemblies> node (e.g. System.Design, System.Web.Extensions of my website's web.config. There is no <namespaces> node. This has not been changed recently.
if we don't mention the decoding what decoding will they use?I do not think it's System.Text.Encoding.Default. Things work well if I EXPLICITLY put System.Text.Encoding.Default but things go wrong when I live that empty. So this doesn't work well
Dim b = System.IO.File.ReadAllText("test.txt") System.IO.File.WriteAllText("test4.txt", b)
<AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)> _ Function Widget(ByVal collection As FormCollection) As ActionResult ... If ... Then
I upgraded to ASP.NET MVC 2 Beta and ASP.NET MVC 2 Futures Assembly for Beta and now ToValueProvider() fails with this compile-time error: Interface 'System.Web.Mvc.IValueProvider' cannot be indexed because it has no default property How do I use ModelState.SetModelValue() if not with collection.ToValueProvider()?
I have a custom app which I deploy to my Win7 users, the app sets up a tray icon which is automatically hidden by the OS. The user then has to manually change the settings of the System Tray to always display my app's icon. What can I do when installing my app on Win7 to make the icon show in the System Tray without user-intervention?
I used the "Anchor" options to resize components when i maximize my form using the default system button and all works fine. But if at anytime i double click on the title bar to maximize/restore window it maximizes, but when it's to restore it won't became the original states, it comes like a big window not maximized.
I want to set the System.Windows.Forms.FolderBrowserDialog to a default path when I load it up. If I set the selectedpath that works but I have to scroll down to that folder to select another one in it.
All I want it to do is start from the passed path; i.e. e:defaultpath ewdocs.
My objective: Set the printer to use without changing the default in Word under the control of vb.net express 08. Word version is 2000
I have it working, but Through a lot of trying, I discovered that the WordBasic line would work. Further exploration revealed the with dialogs(13) will work. In a Word macro it would be Dialogs(wdFilePrintSetup) or Dialogs(97)
This is where it gets interesting. While Word.WdWordDialog.wdDialogFilePrintSetup equals to 97 it doesnt activate the correct dialog. After considerable trying, I found that index 13 does yield the correct dialog box.
Say we have a DataGridView on the main form. I can chose to establish its properties by code or by selecting them in the Properties panel. Is there a difference between these two techniques, a loading time penalty in any of the cases especially?
I have a web service created with vb.net in vs 2010. Here is a look at my property

I have a combobox which contains a sample of names selected from a table.Currently the default name displayed in the box is the 1st name found in the table. What I would like to do is display the name of the person who is doing the selection as the default. The name is stored in a public variable 'PubName' and I do not want the user to be able to type into the combobox themselves. Is this possible?

Is it possible to set a project default for VB.NET winforms projects so that the default Modifier for controls added to winforms is Private (not Friend)?I know there's a "modifiers" property in the properties window so I can set it for each individual control however I would like to change the project so from now on myself and other developers have to specifically decide to change from friend to private. (Which I would strongly discourage them from doing).I believe there is no way of doing this, but on another forum a while ago someone mentioned it would be possible with an add-in (but didn't name the add-in or where to get it).
I am using VB 08 running an openfiledialogue wanting to get the result of the GDS file (*.gds) to be the default extension at the drop down menu instead of All file when the openfiledialogue box opens.
Ok, I don't even know if the is possible, but what I want to do is have a button that when pressed will add a new text box below each other each time it is pressed. So meaning, ther4e is text in one text box, then a button is pressed, a new textbox will appear below it and you can add text to that, and so on.
I was wondering if you can programme in a code to add buttons to a page, without physically putting them in.Ive got a customisable set of options, currently in a txt file 1 item per line maybe thinking of putting into a listbox, if a user adds an item i need it to add a button with that text on.
say i had a drink list, with my first 3 items of beer, cocktail, food, and theres a button prest for each one and i decided to sell wine, shandy, rout beer and so an so on, or how ever many items there are, could be 50 items or 100 items don't really fancy?
I'm creating a game similar to the tradtional space invaders in VB '08. My problem is twofold. One, when I dim a new picture box (picPrimaryLaser) it won't move. Two, I can't do anything while it's moving. The screen just turns white and flashy around that area. Here's the code.
Public Class frmMainInvasion Dim activationCheck As Boolean = False Private Sub frmMainInvasion_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
<Visual Studio 2005. VB.NET.> Does anyone has a sample code to send an e-mail like below?
Namespace My Partial Friend Class MyApplication Private Sub MyApplication_NetworkAvailabilityChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As Microsoft.VisualBasic.Devices.NetworkAvailableEventArgs) Handles Me.NetworkAvailabilityChanged MsgBox("Network Connection has been changed", MsgBoxStyle.Information, "Network Connectivity") "Send an error email to admin"
I'm currently extracting strings from the page source of a certain website. I'm using the start string and the length to get the string I want. However, the problem is that it contains some html codes such as href, a, li etc. Is there a way in which I can copy the text only and not the code?
