Keyboard Event Doubling Events?

Private Sub Form1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyDown If e.Modifiers = Keys.Control AndAlso e.KeyCode = Keys.A Then
[Code]...
And whenever I click control-b (on keyboard) it inserts the bold tag twice.why does it do that? i use to have that code in a button, and the keyboard event would lead to button1.performclick but now when putting the button code in the keyboard it adds the tags twice

I've written an app with a simple textbox which attempts to identify a user from their typing habits (interval between key presses, duration key is held, time between key strokes ie a->s is quicker than a->v for some users, shorter for others depending on typing style). It's far from perfect but it does correctly identify moderate-large differences in style.I'm hoping to use this as a form of security monitor - If the typing style of the user doesn't fit a recognised pattern, report to a central server.
Of course, the next step in testing this is to begin to capture "regular" typing habits - ie when browsing, switching between apps, etc. What I can't figure out how to do is capture keyboard input for all applications (excluding the login/welcome screen, alternate desktops, etc. - I have no reason to parse that and there's probably not enough input to analyse anyway)Disclaimer: Yes, I know this comes dangerously close to writing a keylogger which is verboten but if I wanted to do that, I'd write a keyboard driver in C++ - I'm sure it would be far more streamlined and easier to obfuscate than a hulking .Net MSIL assembly. I have no doubt I'll be fending off "That's a keylogger" comments but I've hit a wall and need to ask somewhere.

How do I bind a keyboard key to an event? Everything I have found so far is related to using the keyboard for shortcuts to buttons on the form. I guess you could say I want to do the opposite.
For example: This is just basic code I did while learning how to use the xBox controller with my windows forms.
If currentState.Buttons.LeftShoulder = ButtonState.Pressed Then
tbLB.Text = " Pressed"
Else
tbLB.Text = " Released"
End If
Instead of changing the text in my textbox I want to have the left shoulder button or maybe my Dpad act as the "Tab" (let me worry about the controller I've got that handled, as not not confuse anyone) key on the keyboard in order to navigate through my form by tabbing upward or downward through a menu. Then maybe use the "A" button on the controller as the "Enter" key.
Where in: Replacing "tbLB.Text = " Pressed"" with code that would press virtually press the "TAB" key.
Of course using the xBox controller is dealing with XNA, but at this point I have figured out some basics of using the controller with my forms, just need to know how to mimic the keyboard keys.

I'm using a textbox to define a hotkey, and I need to make the textbox receive key events and prevent the form from receiving them. The reason it's a problem is because Tab (and probably other keys) is a valid key, but the form uses that as a shortcut, so the textbox never receives the keypress.

I am writing a program to record and playback all the keyboard and mouse events using the journalrecord and journalplayback methods. The code also stores this recorded event in the file and opens the file for playing. The mouse movements are playing fine but none of the mouse clicks or keyboard keypresses are playing fine. Attaching the record and playback hook procedure.
Private Function RecordHookProc( _

ByVal lParam As IntPtr) As Integer

Ok, so I'm writing a basic windows form application in VB.net as you do and need to be able to raise keyboard events based on data received from the serial port. I'm able to receive the characters that I want (lets say a lower case c) and display them. Its also easy enough for me to find the keycode. What I want to do though is tell windows that key "c" has been pressed. The application is paired to a bluetooth terminal, I wanted to have the experience of writing the code behind this myself rather than using another library although it seems I've failed already. How would I go about doing this?

I am trying to find a way to capture keyboard events with the intent of preventing users from being able to hit Ctrl + Alt + Del while my application is running. I've spent several hours poking around looking for inspiration but only finding unclear and half-baked examples. As such, I was thrilled to stumble across the article: Managing Low-Level Keyboard Hooks in VB .NET written by Paul Kimmel [URL] This article is insightful, comprehensive, well-written, and I thought it was a huge help. One little problem though, the code that was provided did not work, (I knew it was too good to be true!).
Now, Mr. Kimmel seemed very knowledgable and I think that he probably tested his code, so quite likely the problem is something that I'm doing wrong seeing as I am a newbie. As the article suggests I cut and pasted his code into a module in my project (solution I guess is the proper term), and I call the HookKeyboard method from a button on a form, and Presto! Nothing happens. Stepping through this code I see that the second line in HookKeyboard:

Im trying to send keys to cod4, Jump (space) works perfectly after i added the keyup after keydown, Before i added Keyup for W (move forward) it would jsut spam and keep running forward, but after i added keyup it doesnt move forward at all, not even a little bit
note: it does send W and space to regular windows,
ElseIf command.Contains("keyboard=space") Then
Call keybd_event(System.Windows.Forms.Keys.Space, 0, 0, 0)
Call keybd_event(System.Windows.Forms.Keys.Space, 0, KEYEVENTF_KEYUP, 0)

I've written a vb.net application to populate a Crystal report and output it to PDF. The problem is that every text box in which I have the letter "t" is being printed out to the PDF as "tt". eg, instead of "customer", it prints "custtomer". The design time layout is perfect. And this only happens with text boxes on the report; value fields that contain the t character print out correctly.

Private Declare Sub Keyboard_Event Lib "user32" (ByVal bVk As Byte, ByVal bScan As Byte, ByVal dwFlags As Long, ByVal dwExtraInfo As Long) [Code] I know the KeyCode when i call this function. Example 13 is the keycode for "Enter". But it says that theres an error on syntax cause KeyCode is an integer not Byte. What kind of variable does it need there? I mean does it need the keycode (which is a number) or a character e.g. "a"? [Code]

I copied the same code to another form, changed the controls, keys combinations, etc., but the keyboard shortcuts do nothing at runtime. None of the key combinations work, it throws no Exceptions,I put a MessageBox in the F1 KeyDown conditional, but it doesn't show. That tells me that it's not Handling the KeyDown Event.[code]

I have a function to do edge detection that works fairly good with one pass and without using a convolution filter. The only thing is that it will shift by one pixel the resulting image when I runt it from top to bottom and from left to right. I can live with that. Just a curious thing that I got when I ran it several times in a loop to see the effect of applying it several times on the resulting image.A deformed image appears at the beggining and then, bit by bit it splits appart and after shifting it the width of the original image I get a double image. I wonder how the computer keeps track of the first image and is able to separate the two after several iteractions.I know that in electronics you can have several signals in a circuit and you can separate them with frequency filters, or you can simultaneously download several files with the same modem aand the two computers will synchronize each one, but this surprissed me.
Here is a simplified version of my function
Private Function Preview(ByVal Thumb As Image) As Image
Dim bm As New Bitmap(Thumb)
Dim X As Integer
Dim Y As Integer
[code]....
I have tried with more complicated images and with larger sizes, but to make upload smaller I includes these two images of simpler and smaller size. A view of the GUI and an animation of the process:reload to see the animation.

I've adapted the code from this link to use the WinXP on-screen keyboard (osk) for a touch-screen application written in VB.NET v3.5. The osk fills the bottom half of screen etc. and behaves fine except for one little quirk. If the user clicks or taps anywhere on the 'background' area behind/between the virtual keys (within the main osk window), the color of the area changes to that of the keys when any further key subsequently gets focus. The outline of all keys is then lost because they are visually merged into the osk window background. The osk must then be terminated and re-launched to remove the confusing appearance.
This behaviour only occurs when the osk window is set to the child style (i.e. when the menu is hidden), using the SetWindowLong P/Invoke function - e.g.
SetWindowLong(OskProcess.MainWindowHandle, GWL_STYLE, WS_CHILD)
It's as if the entire area behind the keys is being treated as another key when tapped/clicked, whereupon its color is 'restored' after losing focus. Is there any way to intercept and somehow override the focus event of this osk background area?

How Do I Make Button.click Event Perform both the enter and period(del) keys on the numeric keypad? [Code] Case Keys.Enter and Case Keys.Separator do not work. Nor does anything like Keys.OEMPeriod for the period(del) key. I've also tried calling the enter key in a KeyPress event etc. But to no avail. Any ideas? I'm trying to mimic Windows calc.exe for a school project and thought I'd try throwing in a few extras such as numeric keypad functionality.

I had a question about handling multiple events in a sub, like this:
Private Sub Form1_MouseUpOrDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Me.MouseUp, Me.MouseDown
'do something
End Sub
Once the sub is called, is there any way to tell which event called it? (Whether it was a MouseDown or a MouseUp event?) Right now, I am doing a work-around as follows... having each event call the same sub and pass the info in. But it would be nice to not have that overhead.
Private Sub Form1_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Me.MouseDown
ExecuteMouseUpOrDown(EventTypes.MouseDown, sender, e)
End Sub
