Load Events Not Firing When Running As Another User

I've created an application that is supposed to map a network drive as soon as it starts using this basic sub:
Private Sub DesktopAssistant_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
'ElevatePrivileges()
'System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("batch\mapfs.bat")
[code]....
Here is the code for the MapDrive function:
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
Module map_unmapdrive
Public Declare Function WNetAddConnection2 Lib "mpr.dll" Alias "WNetAddConnection2A" _
(ByRef lpNetResource As NETRESOURCE, ByVal lpPassword As String, _
[code]....
It works perfectly fine when I start the application, but when I do RunAs and start the application as another user, the MapDrive function does not seem to execute. Everything else in the application works when running as another user, just not on-load events.
Here's the situation: I have a variable number of dynamically created update panels on my page, so I thought I would write one method which handles all of the loading for each one.
My Updatepanel creation looks something like this:
Dim newUpdp As New UpdatePanel
newUpdatep.ChildrenAsTriggers = False
[code].....
Can you write code to tell an event not to fire? Sometimes in my applications events fire unexpectedly. I know this is a broad question, but it must have happened to others out there.
View 2 RepliesI have a datagridview populated from a dataset datatable and all works well. Changing the values of columns updates the datatable except - if the 1st value changed is the last column on a row, the cellparsing and cellvaluechanged events don't fire. Others may not fire but these two I've been working with. The CellLeaving event fires and the RowLeaving event fires. Going back to the cell and changing the value again does cause the events to fire and everything works fine than.
why the events are not firing the 1st time a value is changed?
In debug I see that the datagridview iscurrentcelldirty value is true and also edit mode.
I have a windows form that can search for data and the results are results are returned in a Datagridview. The Datagridview is bound to a custom datatable object. On the CellDoubleClick and CellContentDoubleClick events, a new form is supposed to open which will display the results of that row. What I am noticing is that the datagridview doesn't always fire when I immediately double-click on a particular row. It would appear that I have to first click on the row to "select" it, then double-click the row so the event will fire. Is there a way to remove this intermediate "select" step? Is there a property in the Datagridview that needs to be activated so the double-click events will fire right away? Does something possibly need to be done in another DatagridView event?
View 2 RepliesI have a DGV in VB.Net 2008 connected to an Access DB table. The DGV is not Read Only, but is full of read-only columns except for one, which contains a combo box. The combo box allows the user to select an outcome for that particular row, and then the program copies in a pre calculated value into the "Profit" column depending upon the item selected in the combobox. Then the user hits the Save button and the DB updates (currently via SQL methods in the XSD).
Easy enough so far.
Here is the code.
Private Sub DGUserBets_EditingControlShowing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewEditingControlShowingEventArgs) Handles DGUserBets.EditingControlShowing
[Code]....
The problem I have is that it would seem that if a user selects the desired outcome from the combobox but does NOT hit Enter, and simply mouses on to a different combobox to again select the outcome for a different row, the first eventhandler is not disconnected and thus the events fire multiple times. This then causes various default MsgBox errors and brings up problems when the user tries to commit all changes to the DB/exit program etc etc.
What do I need to do? Do I need to .EndEdit somewhere appropriate to force the row to save the changes? And where should I call this?
I am trying to programmatically add an unspecified amount of new UserControls to a form. One will be added every time an entry is selected in a ComboBox contained within the UserControl. Problem is, the SelectedIndexChanged event fires completely erratically. Sometimes twice, sometimes 3 times, etc., but never just once. No matter how many times I set the combobox's SelectedIndex to -1, it fires at least once with a SelectedIndex of 0. Sometimes the Itemselected event fires multiple times inbetween SelectedIndexChanged events.
InvoiceEntry.vb snippet:
Public Event ItemSelected As EventHandler
Private Sub cboItem_SelectedIndexChanged(sender As System.Object, _
e As System.EventArgs) Handles cboItem.SelectedIndexChanged
RaiseEvent ItemSelected(Me, EventArgs.Empty)
End Sub
[Code] .....
I'm trying to use the events Validating and Validated on a ToolStripTextbox.
Private Sub txtMenuOwnIP_Validated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles txtMenuOwnIP.Validated
MyIP = txtMenuOwnIP.Text
StatusLabelIP.Text = MyIP
End Sub
[code].....
Neither code is firing. The CausesValidatition of the txtMenuOwnIP is set to true.I can enter stuff into that Textbox and leave it using the Mouse or simply piush Enter, but the posted code won't get fired (used a Breakpoint in both subs). There are no other event routines for this command used.
Consider a simple VB.NET form with a couple of radio buttons and a checkbox.
Each of the radio buttons has a CheckedChanged handler setup that performs some action based on the state of the checkbox.
My problem is, when I initialize on the default radiobutton to be checked (from the designer properties window) the CheckedChanged event is fired for that radio button, but the Checkbox hasn't been initialized yet so I either get a null pointer exception or the wrong value is used in the handler. Either way, I don't want that handler code to be run unless the user picks a radio button after the form has been loaded.
I currently get around this by not initializing the radio button, but I need to set that default eventually and the best place is from the designer. I also can add a boolean field that's not set to true until the form is fully loaded and not process the events if that is false, but it's a dirty hack.
What can I do to prevent that handler from running its code?
I'm creating a small game which when the user clicking a menustrip item "New game" adds event handlers to each label in a panel control.
For Each scoreLabel As Label In Me.panelScore.Controls
If Not (scoreLabel.Name = "lblLeftBonus" Or scoreLabel.Name = "lblLeftTotal" _
Or scoreLabel.Name = "lblRightBonus" Or scoreLabel.Name = "lblRightTotal") Then
[code].....
I have two forms that I worked on separately, each has an event load button that works with a datagridview without any problem. but when I created a third form and moved the buttons on it and try to update the datagridviews on the two forms, it doesn't fire up here's my
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
[Code]...
When i use my UserControl in a project my Mouse Enter & Leave events aren't firing, i assume i fix this with a raiseevents in my usercontrol. However when i try to do this it says something about "cannot raise base event from derived class".

The form loads and nothing happens?
First off I hope I'm in the right forum.I have an application I built with the WebBrowser control in Visual Basic 2005. I am using the DocumentComplete event to track when a page has fully finished loading as some of the webpages I need to work with have frames.
The problem I am having is that when some iframes time out or don't load, the documentcomplete events stop firing. So if my webpage has 2 frames on it, we'd expect 3 documentcomplete events. One for each frame and one for the parent document once the frames have loaded. If say frame 2 does not load properly, the documentcomplete event for the overall document never fires.
I have load a webpage in my form and want to make some autonomat tasks. Problem is that the webpage load slowly on some computers and then my other events gets to quickly. I try to put a brake inside the code for wait for the webpage to finish load, but then its pause the webpage to.
View 10 RepliesI'm trying to automate a product that provides no such automation capability.I've take a cursory look at loading the app in a separate AppDomain, and also, through reflection, executing the Program.Main() to get the app running. I also tried getting the windowhandle from a separately created Process object (which I've learned will not work). If I have a reference to their assembly added to my project so I can reference an instance of "TheirProduct.FormMain", what, if it's possible, is the best way to go about capturing events from that form? What I need to do is to be able to capture a couple events, and perform a few Button.PerformClick() against the form.
View 1 RepliesI have a problem with a Save button on a toolbar firing the click event twice if the user double clicks the button as opposed to single clicking.Disabling the double click on the toolbar itself seems to make no difference as it is the actual save button that is being clicked twice.I have tried setting a Boolean to stop the event firing twice but it is just too quick!I didn't have this problem with my code before as the server call was not async... and reverting back is not really an option.
My code is as follows:
Protected Sub tlbOrdQuot_ButonClick(ByVal sender
As Object,
ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ToolBarButtonClickEventArgs)
Handles tlbOrdQuot.ButtonClick

I created a control that has picture box control docked within it. This control allows me to "animate" the image by swapping them out by setting the interval to swap them at. I want to use this control kind of like an animated icon within a application, but because the picture box is docked, the control I created won't respond to the events, MouseHover specifically. View 2 Repliesi'm developing windows application using vb.net. I have to use waiting cursor for processing some items,at that time users are not allowed to access the other things in the form. I set the waiting cursor but it allows the user to access the other links. So i want to disable the mouse events after the processing complete then enable the mouse events.
View 4 RepliesI'm running an application under an account that is not the account logged-on to the PC.
Within the application I need check if the logged-on user is a member of the Administrators group. Below is the code I'm using. From what I've read, WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent() should return an object associated with the logged-on user. It doesn't, it returns the same information as the call to System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal. Which is the information associated to the ID running the application, not the logged-on user.

I am having three forms
1. Main page
2. Input page
3. Output page
I want load event to be activated whenever coming from Main page to Inputpage and activate event when coming from output page to input page. But what i am getting is that only for the first time load is activated and for all other only activate is called.
I found this mystifying in VB6 and it's still here...
For example - I have a combobox on a form and I have put some code in its SelectedIndexChanged event. The problem is that I want this code to be executed *only* when the user clicks on an item in the combobox dropdown. Why is it then that it gets executed when the form first loads? And how do I stop this happening?
I used to use a "FormLoading" boolean to decide whether or not the code was executed but this surely shouldn't be necessary. Is there a better way?
I fear that there is something obviously wrong with my code, but I have come across a situation where the Form.Load event is not firing when I create and show my form. The form is not subclassed (as I've seen some problems with that in some searches), and I am not getting any errors thrown when I step through the code in the debugger.
I have a break point set on the IDE-created form load function (which does have the Handles MyBase.Load signature suffix) but the breakpoint is never reached and the form does display and work. The form is passed three arguments in the constructor but the IntializeComponent() function is called before anything else is done.

View 1 RepliesLoad , Initialize , Activate . What's the difference among them ? Up to now I was used to the classic VB6 events , but it seems that in .NET they are different . I was used to these ones :Load / Initialize : both the first step before showing a form . One appeared in VB6 , the other in VBA .Activate : triggered when a form is selected .However I thing that now , not only they differ , but they also come in a different order ...

How can I do it so every time the user loads my application it will automatically (without prompt, or user selecting) upload all the files in a folder i select beforehand and add them into ListBox1
View 16 RepliesWe have a purchased application written in Visual Studio 2005 that uses tab controls for displaying information. One of the tabs is for reporting and I am trying to run some code to enable and disable a Validate button. It has a proprietary report component (LxReportView1) that is initially disabled. As user enters information, the Validate button is used to check for required fields. After data entry entries have been validated, user click Validate one last time and record gets flagged as validated and report component (LxReportView1) gets enabled for use. Ideally, whenever this Report tab is clicked, it will run my code EACH TIME.[code]Works fine when user's first action is to bring up a record that has already been validated. So when user clicks on Report tab, report component LxReportView1 has been enabled for use and the Validate button has been disable just as designed. Problem is that given a list of records, if user selects a record that has NOT been validated yet and then later on brings up another record that has been validated, code does not run. How can I get this code to run EACH and EVERY TIME the form loads.
View 4 RepliesI have two forms. On form one, I have a serious of check boxes and in form two I have functions relating to those checkboxes. When the second form loads, I check the Checked State of the Check Boxes, and run the appropriate functions. This is working just fine. The problem I have, is that the second form doesn't show until the functions that have been selected have completed. It would be ideal if the form would load and then run the functions.
I don't think that I could have everything run on startup, but hopefully there is another method. I know I could load the second form and then just run the code in the previous form, but this is less than ideal, because I can't show the second form as .ShowDialog and I want to be able to split up the code into the other form so that it's not so crowded and easier to read on the first one.
