I have the need to maintain a 4:3 aspect ratio on a Video control on a form. The forms (there could be up to 16 in a 4x4 layout) should all maintain a 4:3 aspect ratio when resized depending on clients monitor/resolution. The forms have a border and will keep them. The control is set to fill the form and is the only control on the form. Here is code that I use to create the initial layout:

View 13 RepliesI'm using a web cam that takes 320 X 240 pictures. This sort of gives the picture a "landscape" look to them, and I need to re-size the pictures to a 169 X 225 "portrait" picture. Its for a badge program. Anyway, when I re-size the pictures, they get all scrunched up because of the difference in aspect ratio. Is there a way to re-size the image and the aspect ratio at the same time? Would this be considered cropping or resizing? I'm a little confused on where to begin. I mainly use VB, but if someone has a good example in C#, ill take the time to convert it.

Notice that as soon as the Aspect ratio is selected a cropped area shows on the picture that can be dragged to the perfect position creeping the aspect ratio in tact. This is why I wanted somehow to link my app. to Picture Manager. I want the picture to open in Picture Manager, cropping tool already selected, ready to be dragged to the perfect position. Unless you have some code that can do jut this.

View 1 RepliesI've created a form with several controls to specify the inputs to my program. They include TextBox, OpenFileDialog, Button and even a user control for numeric input. When the user clicks the 'GO' button, the program begins it work. Opening several files and processing a bunch of numerical data. This could take many minutes/hours with large datasets.
What I've been trying to do is have another window/form open up and send status information to it for the user to view. The info to be displayed is varied and constantly updated as the program crunches the numbers. Many many programs do just this type of activity.
I attempted to create a second form with a huge TextBox thinking I'd just write stuff to it. I called the .show method within the .click of the 'GO' button and of course the form is displayed but control of the program's execution doesn't return until the form is closed. How to I maintain execution and have a second window/form to display status?
I have an older VB6 program that uses a MDI sheet. this program was upgraded to VB.net. I can not get a new Windows Form to use the MDI Container. the new sheet lays over the top of the MDI sheet.

When i run this set of codes, system keep telling me that same form cannot be both mdichild and mdiparent, however, I never set my child form as a parent.

I usually use table-layout-panel container in windows form to enable formre-sizing. But I've got too many label boxes and text boxes in a form to to fit in normal resolution. So I am in need of a similar container which is bothscroll-ableandre-sizable. Can someone tell me how it can be done using table-layout-panel container. View 3 RepliesAm devloping an application with multiple forms, which reside on top of a main form. i.e the main application window. The 'child' forms do not need to be linked in any way as they do not pass information to the parent form, as all the parent form does is act as main window.Now I would like to know what is the correct way for the 'main window' form acting as a container for the other forms? So that all the smaller secondary forms stay focused on top of the main application form, that when the main window is minimized, so these forms should do also etc..
I have read other posts and they mention, leaving all the forms standard i.e. IsMdiContainer = False and then using form.showDialog() to call the secondary forms. This did not work for me as what happens is that as soon as I give focus to the main app form, the secondary form disappears underneath.I tired making the main app form IsMdiContainer = True and when it loads calling:
frmMemberForm.MdiParent = Me
Now this works, because I can click off the form and minimize the app etc and the frmMemberForm doesn't disappear. However if i close the MemberForm and reopen it, it looses this property and once again when it looses focus, it will disappear.
I have a custom control of type MyListControl with a Property called NotifiedList. I would like that when selecting that property in the Property Grid at runtime, that a dropdown list is populated with all the instances of type MyListControl that shared the same container as the original control.

Does anyone have any decent material targeted at someone who's never heard of Aspect Oriented Programming before today learn about the core concepts, terms/keywords etc? Even a birds-eye - i.e. These are the core concepts, keywords to look out for, what they stand for and how they fit together. After that, I can probably make some decent headway on my own. I would like to ask some questions about the controls placed on forms :1) I noticed that VB .NET can create applications with XP visual style . If the "Application framework" is not activated , though , the controls look like those used in Win98 . This is useful to me sometimes . However , I wonder , is it possible to also see those controls in Win98 style during design time ? I am asking because during design time the controls on forms are represented with XP style no matter what style is selected .
This usually creates a problem to me because I can't properly set the dimensions for labels in order to fit their text . So , is there a way to also see those controls in Win98 style during design time ?2) Now this might be funny : I like both styles , so is there any way I could use both of them in the same project ?
Im making a small tool that helps gamers keep track of their kills and deaths, and their kill/death ratio.I calculate ratio on startup of the program, straight after kills and deaths are loaded off my website.Dim ratio As Decimal ratio = Val(txt_kills.Text / txt_deaths.Text) At the moment, kills = 172 and deaths = 145. Ratio results in 1,1862068. How can I round this number up and turn this into a number with 2 integers after the dot? ( 1.19 ) I tried a hundred things so far but I cannot figure this out.

So for example, if I put -2 into the input, the approximation of PHI would have to be with 10^-2 of the number that we're using of 1.618033988749895. Also, we need to show how many Fibonacci terms that were used to get to that number and the difference that the number that we approximated is to PHI.

I notice when I copy a control over a form (i.e. by copy - paste) , I don't only copy the visual aspect of the control but also the code is altered in relation with the new control . For example , lets say we have a Button on the form which is supplied with a sub for handling the Click event . If I copy the button then the existing sub will handle the new button too ! But I don't want that , I only want to copy the button (i.e. it has some specific color , dimensions , font etc and therefore it's faster to copy an existing one instead of creating a new one)
