Making Asp:Label A Specific HTML Tag?
Jul 29, 2011
New to VB.net, just trying to figure out how to properly manipulate the asp:Label control.I have a page that, based on if there are results, etc should display an <h1></h1> tag with a header, then the data. As I am using the code-behind model, my user facing page essentially just has the following:
[Code]...
On my code-behind page, I then set the asp:Label and asp:DataList to Visible="true" based on the data from the database. Here's the catch - if there is data, I want to set lblMessage to be an H1, and if not, just standard Label text. I realize I can emulate the look through the CSS, but was just hoping there was another way (maybe similar to the ItemTemplate concept) to specify the HTML type of the Label control - it appears to be a by default.

is it possible to have specific text in a listbox line to act like a hyperlink?
dim sLocation as string = "\serverfoldersubfolder"
LstOut.Items.Add("text text text" & sLocation)
I would like this to open in explorer.
This is not an ASP application, just a plain old winform.

I have the following in my code:
lblIsInvalid.Visible = True
I have noticed that even after going to this line, it does not make the label visible. I am thinking this may be a refresh issue as the last line hit is lblIsInvalid.Visible = True. Is there any refresh property that I may not be aware of for a label control.

First post here, so I have no clue if this is the right place to ask this or not, but it looked like it.
Anyways, what I'm trying to do as an exercise is make a roulette game. I decided it would be best to put my buttons ON the actual table itself, so that the player can click which one he wants to bet on, and it'll bring up an Input Box asking how much he wants to bet, and yeah.
So, I tossed a button on there, set the parent to the picturebox of the roulette table, set the back color to transparent, and got rid of the text. Lo and behold, it's transparent!

I'm trying to get the value of a specific <div> from an html. This div has a class attribute of "itemPrice6", but problem is that this class appears few more times for other <div>s in which i'm not interested in. Best thing for me is if I am able to access the needed <div> using something like XPATH so I can target only those I need.
My Code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim web As New HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlWeb
Dim doc As HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument = web.Load("[URL]")
Dim prices As HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlNodeCollection =

I am making a text advertisement that I will add to my application. I want to use a label as the text and it should be able to go to a URL when I click it. The text of the label should be whatever the text of the hyperlink is and it on the website.
I want the label1.text to be the first sentence of http://www.website.com I also want the label1_clicked to do wb.navigate to whatever the link of first sentence of the website is. So if the website is a blank page with only one link:
Merry Christmas
label1.text = Merry Christmas
label1_clicked should do wb.navigate http://www.google.com
this way I can change the text and the hyperlink from dreamweaver or whatever, and it will update in the users apps as well.

I want to add a label in a specific cell in my table, but everything goes wrong when I do so.
I make a label and put it in column 2 row 0: table.Controls.Add(UI.createLabel("test", 9, "sans serif", "bold"), 2, 0)
That goes fine..... label "test" goes exactly where it supposed to go. But when I put it in column 2 row 1, this happens: table.Controls.Add(UI.createLabel("test", 9, "sans serif", "bold"), 2, 1)

I know how to extract an entire page source into VB.NET, but once I do that how do I make VB.NET search the text and return a specific vlaue that is not constant?
Take this line from the page source for example:
<td id="actualPriceContent"><span id="actualPriceValue"><b class="priceLarge">$4.30</b></span>
the text is always constant but the price is not - how do I make VB.NET return the price?

How do I read/get text/line between specific text. For example:
my html-file contains
<title>This is my Title</title>
I have found a code, which I needed to convert from C#, but it doesn't work:
Private Shared Function GetTitle(html As String) As String
Dim r As New Regex("<title.*?>")
Dim Title_start As Integer = 0
[Code].....
I have already loaded the html-text into a rtb, so perhaps is easier to extract it from there.

Private Sub SelectionFind()
Dim findText As String = "find me"
Application.Selection.Find.ClearFormatting()
If Application.Selection.Find.Execute(findText) = True Then
[code]....
What I would like to search is the content of a WebBrowser control.

How can you find a specific HTML element in a webbrowser.document? I'm making a program that will go to a specified address on the internet and find a html element and get the src link from the element then return the src to the imagelocation of a picturebox. Is this at least possible?

so I had an idea today while modding a game I play. I decided to make a mod-manager.In order to start the game with mods, you have to go to the website, log in, click playnow and view the source of the html file. From there you get the sessionID variable and add it to a shortcut on your desktop. I wanted to be able to automate this process by doing the following:
on button1.click: somehow parse the source of the html file to locate the line that looks like chis:
var sessionId = 'random26charSessionID'; and take what is inside of the ' ' and add it to textbox1.text
Any ideas? Not sure if it will be in the same line every time with add banners and stuff...so I wanted to parse the doccument.

I have used .NET and ShDocVw for years to grab data off webpages without any issues I couldn't overcome. This website has me beat though. It seems like such as easy task to grab the titles and other information off a library search page, but I can't see the data to be able to grab it. Usually, I just look in the DOM, but the data wasn't there. I did a view source, but the data wasn't there.

I'm using HtmlAgilityPack to parse HTML. I want to check if an element has a specific attribute. I want to check whether an <a> tag has the href attribute.
Dim doc As HtmlDocument = New HtmlDocument()
doc.Load(New StringReader(content))
Dim root As HtmlNode = doc.DocumentNode
Dim anchorTags As New List(Of String)
For Each link As HtmlNode In root.SelectNodes("//a")
If link.HasAttributes("href") Then doSomething() 'this doesn't work because hasAttributes only checks whether an element has attributes or not

I use DocTools to Create a Compiled HTML Help File. I want to link to a specific topic in the help file from my program, but the filenames of the html files are generated randomly.
Is there any way to open a CHM to a specific topic by name?
I created a wrapper for DocTools, so I could have the command line piped to a text box and then I could obtain the Topics from there and save them in an INI file that I read when I call the help, but I don't know how to pipe the command line to a textbox.

I am trying to fill a label with data, using datagridview, from a specific row, cell. The commented out code works but is tedious and sequential, basically has to go row by row. Is there a way I can just say "hey, gimmee the data at x,y?" LOL Trust me, at one point I even tried that. All this must take place at form load so there is no click events involved.
Private Sub STAPLES_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Me.STAPLETableAdapter.Fill(Me.FSC_DATADataSet.STAPLE)
[b]'THIS WORKS SEQUENTIALLY[/b]
'Me.TextBox1.Text = Me.STAPLEDataGridView.CurrentRow.Cells(0).Value.ToString.Trim
'Me.TextBox1A.Text = Me.STAPLEDataGridView.CurrentRow.Cells(1).Value.ToString.Trim
