I want to go back to the input line in the four places in the code that say something like strinputmessage = strnegative or strinputmessage = strnonnumeric.I need to be able to go back to where you input the data so that the index does not increase.I tried using a GoTo <23> to go back up to the line i needed but then it gave me all these weird errors about the End and Next were missing.[code]
How do I make a program run only when it is executed with a command line? For example, if you press WINDOWS KEY + R, and then type in "firefox.exe -profilemanager" It will open up Firefox's profile manager. How do I make my program do that, except, if it's command line is "program.exe -letmein" it'll open form2. And if it's opened manually, (by doubleclicking or anything else) it'll open form1.
If I add let's say 1 line at the beggining of a method, if I set a breakpoint through Visual Studio on the first line, will it point to the first line or the second? If it will flag the wrong line, is there anything we could do when editing .exe files to ensure a regular debugging session later?Isn't there something like setting line x to be Y? I remember seeing something like that somewhere, not sure if .NET related or not.
I would like to execute an external program within powerpoint after the presentation has loaded so i can see if its working. In short my overall objective is to execute the external program which will open up the command prompt and use the sendkeys method to sendkeys to command prompt which help it to run a script at the correct time (which is after presentation is loaded).
I'm currently trying to write a football simulator but am having issues with the computer becoming unresponsive. There are long lines of code (several thousand lines) that are executed over and over as one run of the code is equivalent to one second of game time. While the game is setup to be like Football Manager where you watch the game live, there will also be cases where the entire game is simulated without you watching. When doing a full sim of a game, I just have a loop which executes the code block 7200 times (games go for two hour roughly).
At the moment this takes about a minute but even when I get it down to the desired 5-10 seconds or so, I dislike the fact that the computer becomes completely unresponsive during this time. In a round there are 9 games and you'll be simulating without watching 8 of them. You're looking at 1-2 minutes of simulation time or possibly more. I can't have a loading screen that long! How can I program the game so it runs these simulations yet the game still remains responsive? It'd be fine if the user could muck around in the menus and stuff while the simulation runs.
I'm developing a VB.net windows form app in Visual Studio 2010. I want to be able to drag the form to another location or minimize it while the app is running. Is that possible? Here's and example. I have a form with 1 button. Here's the code associated with the button:
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim time0 As Integer Dim time1 As Integer For time0 = 0 To 1000000000 time1 = time0 Next End Sub
I can move the form or minimize it until I push the button. Then it freezes until the code stops running.
I'm doing a maze using VB10. its about moving a PictureBox between LineShape lines using buttons to move it. the problem is, can I make the picture not to move through the LineShape? if so how? or should I use something else other than the LineShape and another question can i save the progress of the maze and come back to it later? if so does it require using a database to save the location of the PictureBox?
I have an application (written in VB.net 2008) which reads a text file. Parses the record and uses the second field (a UK postcode) to match an Access database (SQL - Select * from Table1 ......), then writes a text file back out with the original input postcode plus several fields taken from the access database.
I have 3 counts happening during the process, records read, postcodes matched and postcodes not matched. I move these values to labels on the form, then every 50 records read, I refresh the form (me.refresh) to update the labels (showing the end user where the process is upto). When running, if I drag the window around the screen, or minimize then maximize, or click off the window to another window, the application seems to freeze and the counter labels do not refresh.
I have a winform with a main panel that is anchored top, left; dock: fill, and set to a specific size to contain another panel of content that we want to scroll through. The other panel along with a few other controls are on the main panel. Now, for some reason, after running the application the controls will be shifted down (never horizontally) some random amount. Now, the "random amount" may in fact be the last position of the scroll bar or something, but either way, it is unintended functionality. I have resorted to automatically resetting the locations of these controls on the main form in the constructor?
I have a batch file. It includes two lines, as follows: pkgmgr /n:unattend.xml pause I have run this batch file manually and it works (installs IIS on the local machine). But when I try to run it in code I get an error: "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format". Here is my code to run the batch file:
I have the following code, my employer wants me to reduce the lines of code to do the job.
Private Function getClientSheetNames(Optional ByVal type As String = "all") As List(Of String) If type = "extra" Then Return clientExtraSheetNames End If
[code].....
I am not able to make out how can I cut the lines and have the same functionality !Are there any vb.net construct that can reduce the loc by better implementation ?Can I have a new function to be called from getClientSheetNames and getDevSheetNames that will can implement code resue ?Can I introduce polymorphism in a possible new function ?
I have a program that runs some code when i click a button on a form when done running the application ends. I want to automaticaly run the code when the users clicks on the exe. I have put the code that i want to run in the startup forms load event but that doesn't start
I am writing a game tenetivly labeled Code Invaders. It is similar to space invaders in which a space ship shoots out lasers at the incoming enemies. My problem is the lasers exiting the space ship. I can create them except they won't move...
Public Class frmMainInvasion Dim activationCheck As Boolean = False Private Sub frmMainInvasion_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing
i am a Microsoft Word developer and I sell Microsoft Office solutions, to companies. I am beginning to be concerned that my solutions are being copied - which is fairly easy.I am hoping someone can give me some advice about the best way to do this.I don't really have much of an understanding outside of Office VBA development - but have dabbled in .NET and VB in the past. Should I be buying Visual Studio - if so, does it matter if I buy Visual Studio 2008 or 2010 - I will initially need to convert some Word 2007. I have previously downloaded the .NET framework, and not sure how this relates to Visual Studio.
How could I move my VB.NET application to a folder using VB.NET in the same file? Essentially, I want to be able to move my VB.NET application to the Start folder when it is executed (within the same application). Also, I want to be able to move it to the same folder on any computer, for there is no set path to the Start folder on different computers. Or I would like to just create a shortcut for my application in the start folder?
I have been working on a program on my old computer. Now, I have gotten a new computer and would like to continue to work on it there. The program is not yet finished. I would like to copy my program to my new computer. How can I do this? I tried copying the folder from my old computer to my new one and it opened the project, but I could not edit it as there was no permission given to edit it. It shows it as a read-only.
Ok so say I had a simple form with a button. This form has the TopMost set to true and when the button was clicked it would use the SendKeys. But unfortunately you have to click onto the place where you want it to send the keys otherwise it will try typing it onto itself.
Say I have a .jar open in processes, how would I make it so when the button is pressed it would switch to make the .jar the "Front"?
Does anyone have a simple code for Moving and Renaming a Image File?
Here is an example of exactly what I need to do.
Ok let's presume the end user is Editing a Record named Mick's Milktart, the DataBase Table Field named ID (Primary Key) has a value of 237.The user clicks a button to add an Image to that Record.
An OpenFileDialog opened and an Image File named "NewImage.png" is selected by the user from "MyPictures".[code]...
I wrote this VB program to be able to throw a device we developed into programming mode where we use an ATMEL Flip installer to upload new firmware. I can program one device after another running the application off of Visual Studio Express 2010 or Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to publish this file and run it on another machine, it becomes unstable and crashes after each upload. On those same computers if I run the raw unpackaged program under Visual Studio Express, the system does not crash, and I can program devices repeatedly.
I am making a program that takes files (inside their folders) and copies them into a selected file path. For example, I plug in my jump drive, run my program and it copies my files on the jump drive over to my PC. Now my program does this but it takes the files inside each folder in my jump drive instead of creating a folder for each one in my jump drive. The result is a mess of files in the selected pathway in my PC.I went and created variables in My.settings so that you can save the file path even after you close the program. I just want the program to copy the folders(with the files in each folder) in my jump drive and move them over to my PC.I am using this program copy the files from my jump drive over to my PC, because I save a lot of work on my jump drive and I need to back it up often. Seems begineer but i really do not understand what these lines of code saying, since I'm kinda like newbie in datatable and dataview or such stuff! [code]).DefaultView.Count = 0 Then EncodeToText will encoed the text given from DESCRIPTION field in the database and convert it to string. So it is filtering it but only certain description fields, how ever by some strange reasons that second line is not working properly.
I cannot make the code work when it gets to consonants. I cannot get the consonant part correct.
Code: 'Date of last Modification: 4/11/2009 'Pig Latin Converter: Takes and English words and converts it to Pig Latin 'Rules stated in comments within calButton click event procedure
