Multiple Textboxes With Different Type Of Data Validation
Jun 22, 2010
I have four textboxes,
I want textbox1 to accept only char data.
I want textbox2 to accept only numeric data.
I want textbox3 to accept only alphanumeric data.
I want textbox4 to accept only bolean data.
validating a form with multiple text boxes? User would be informed what was the problematic field.The source of the form:
Private Sub btnNewUser_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnNewUser.Click 'If txtEmail.Text.Contains(" "c) Or Not(InStr(txtEmail.Text, "@")) Then 'txtEmail.Clear() 'ElseIf txtPassword.Text.Contains(" "c) Then
How do you validate input when you are dealing with doubles. I have successfully gotten the message box to pop up when the user enters a number in a text field, but what if I have a text box that requests a number from the user and they enter text? This is the code, the even for btnDisplayFull works fine, but not btnDisplayRqst: [code]
Im trying to improve some apps ive written, the first is a console app... Im trying to get it so that i wont get an invalidcastexception if the user inputs a string, when the variable is type "Double"
I'm working on a program that is interacting with a simple Access database. When the form loads there need to be multiple text boxes that are bound to the same table and field in the database, Inventory_Table.Quantity, to display the quantity of the inventory. From there, orders are read into the system adjusting the inventory as necessary.
I need to specify what row these are each supposed to be bound to, because right now it is binding them all to row 0, which makes sense but is not what I want. Is this possible? Heres the code I have to bind currently.
I have a form that I have been getting submissions that have punctuation and special characters that trigger the potentially dangerous Request.Form value error. I have been trying use the httpUtility.htmlencode and Server.htmlencode method to sanitize textboxes and textareas.All my tests do not fire because the built-in request validation of the 4.0 framework prevents the code-behind from executing to perform the sanitization. I have included the ValidateRequest in the page header but no matter what I set it too it still does the same thing.
I have multiple documents stored in Attachment data type in Access database. UsingDataReader, I need to read multiple attachments along with their file name and store them on the file system
Okay this is the simple thing I'm trying to accomplish. I can get richtextbox1 to add to listbox 1. but i cant get both to add. the compare works fine. I'm stumped.
The problem i am having is after checking if the field is blank i want program to stop at that, right now it is going ahead and checking the username password also even though the field is blank and printing wrong username password. i am really new at this so please excuse the lack of knowledge
Using VB 2005. I am attempting Object Binding, with a validation class that handles the validation at the object properties. But, it is working fine for strings only. For any numbers and dates fields on the form, if I simply enter and leave the text box without entering any data, the validation doesn't kick in. It does only when the text box is dirty (an empty string ?), if I enter something and erase it (backspace), the errorprovider is not letting go unless I fill in something that conforms to the data type of the text box and says the input is not in the correct format / type. And at this point, the object property is yet to be assigned any value, and hence my validation class is yet to activate and do its job.
I need to create a function which have either 1 parameter with a string as data type or 2 parameters with double as data type.Something like the substring method.
I'v designed a ms access database table with one field having Datetime datatype. I can Insert data into it from vb.net front end by trns_dt DateTime.Now.DateBut when I fetch records from the tableand assign the dataset datasource as da, it shows datatype mismatch error.
I have a solution with two projects. The main project connects to the second project via a reference, and the reference path is local to my machine. It looks like it references the .exe file.So when I publish the main project (ClickOnce), i get the following error: Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue.In the log file, under Error Details, it says
System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (RefDefValidation) - Reference in the manifest does not match the identity of the download assembly Project2.exe - Source: System.Deployment
How can I include this second project? Should I publish it, then reference the published files? What do i reference? The .application file?Is there a way to just include this second project, so when I do publish the main project, the second one just goes along with it?
Ok I need to have a message box pop up when a user clicks the "Add Patient" button and the message box should have multiple textboxes which include Patient name, Patient ID, etc. I guess my question is can I do this with a message box or do I need a new form to pop up when the button is clicked. The form is connected to a database and the info entered should be added to the "Patients" data table.
I have a form on a program i am working on that i need to check if all the textboxes hold a separate value when a button is clicked. I know that i can use comparative operators to check the values are different, but i am using 6 different textboxes, and don't fancy typing. [Code] 36 times over, could somebody point me in the right direction for an easy way of checking that 6 textboxes hold different values. Also, as a sidenote, i would like to know if there is a way to check if all 6 are numeric in an easier way than typing is-numeric(textbox1).
how to change multiple textboxes without calling each specific name. I have about 10 textboxes and would like to change their maxlength based on the following conditions.
1- If the user select decimal i would like to limit the maxlength to 3 on all the 10 textboxes at once versus individually changing each textbox maxlength.
2. If the user select hexadecimal i would like to limit the maxlength to 2 on all the 10 textboxes all at once.
I have my menustrip with the standard edit items. I know I can do this:
If TextBox1.Focused = True Then TextBox1.Undo() ElseIf TextBox2.Focused = True Then TextBox2.Undo() 'Ect. Ect. Ect.
End If until I type out every textbox. However, I have like 30 textboxes and don't want to type out every textbox to see if they have focus. Is there a work around for that?
I have multiple textboxes which I want them to perform the same thing upon clicking them. By default I can use the handles textbox1.click for 1 single textbox but I am not sure how to do handle multiples of them. Of course I can write a handler for every single textbox but I have about 50.
Sub TextBox1_click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.Click If Button9.Text = "Make Changes" Then If TextBox2.Text <> "" Then Frm_Cine1.Show() [Code] .....
I'm not sure how to do the following (in VB.NET), I'm hoping you will give me some insight or examples on how it can be done. My database is an SQL one.I have an assets table, which in it has the amount, growth percentage, income percentage. There are multiple assets per client.
I need to get the amount, growth and income into three separate boxes or variables and I'm not quite sure how to do this. The only other problem is that there would be two or three rows returned also, which need to have those three variables or textboxes again. So for x amount of rows, I need 3 variables which the amount, growth and income will go into.
The reason I need everything into variables is that I can't find an effective way of showing each assets growth over x amount of years and the income it will produce into a data grid view. I'm able to do it if I specify what the growth and income are on the form, but not through the query.
The problem I am having is with a loop that I want to clear multiple textboxes Dim count as double = 0 dim max as double = 6 Do Until count = max textcommand = ("Textbox_"+ count +".clear()") +Textcommand+ count = count + 1 Loop [Code] .....
