Forms :: Mine Data From Webbrowser To Textboxes?

Jan 26, 2010

I am trying to mine data from a webpage and use that data to populate textboxes (which will later be used to fill out and print a form).

For example, if the HTML source code looks like this...

<html>
<head>
<title>myGulf.com: Customer Login</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<link href="gsstyles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
</head>
...

How would I mine or parse "myGulf.com" and place it into a textbox? I have tried using regex, but cannot get the code to work by viewing incomplete code snipets from other posts (I dont yet have enough understanding of regex).

Asp.net - 4.0 Framework Request Validation Will Not Allow Code-behind To Htmlencode Textboxes?

Jan 8, 2011

I have a form that I have been getting submissions that have punctuation and special characters that trigger the potentially dangerous Request.Form value error. I have been trying use the httpUtility.htmlencode and Server.htmlencode method to sanitize textboxes and textareas.All my tests do not fire because the built-in request validation of the 4.0 framework prevents the code-behind from executing to perform the sanitization. I have included the ValidateRequest in the page header but no matter what I set it too it still does the same thing.

This is the code I have so far.

Session("RequestID") = Server.HtmlEncode(txtRequestID.Value)
Session("FirstName") = Server.HtmlEncode(txtInstFirstName.Text)
Session("LastName") = Server.HtmlEncode(txtInstLastName.Text)

[code]....

What can I do to make this work? According to all the websites I have visited it should work.

Forms :: TextBox Validation?

Mar 16, 2010

My question is the last code tag section above where the parameters are set for the input.If on the form there is a textbox that is required (on the db side to not allow nulls) how would you perform the validation before you tried to execute the update sql?Ex: say 'SerialNumberTextbox.Text' was empty or if you needed to have character constraints on what was typed like varchar(15) and they have 16 or more characters

Sharing UI Validation Between Forms?

Jan 25, 2012

I am trying to figure out how to seperate my business logic from my forms. This is my first attempt at doing this, but I would like to figure out how to handle events from multiple forms within a class. I have found myself routinely writing the same logic over and over in each form class and its time I figure out how to completly seperate out that logic in winforms so I can reuse the methods across all of my forms.

So basically I have this click event in form1:
Private Sub btnSubmit_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSubmit.Click

'txtMail is empty
MessageBox.Show("Email is empty", "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, _

Forms :: Textbox Validation - Input Number Between 1 To 12

Mar 9, 2009

I am new to visual basic. Below is my
Private Sub todayMonth_Validating(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles todayMonth.Validating
Dim tb As TextBox = DirectCast(sender, TextBox)
If Convert.ToInt32(tb.Text) >= 1 And Convert.ToInt32(tb.Text) <= 12 Then
tb.Tag = True
[Code] .....

Actually, I wanted to validate the todayMonth textbox just to input number between 1 to 12. The problem comes out when I do this procedure : Lets say I input an interger 11 and it passes the validation and proceed to another textbox. Then I click back to the todayMonth textbox, it shows this error :
"Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid."
I don't know why my value in the textbox is "null" or empty . I still saw the value 11 on the textbox.

Create FK To Model, From Aspnet Forms Validation Tables

Jan 17, 2012

I've recently created a MVC 3 ASP.net application (using VB). I have also created forms validation by running aspnet_regsql. I used this to create the table in the same database as my application uses. I am trying to work out how to create a new model, with a FK from the Users table. Do I have to reverse engineer the validation tables to create models in my application? right now, the tables only exist on the SQL 2008 database, as they were created by running the aspnet_regsql command, and do not exists as models in my ASP.net solution. Here is the code I have now, for a model I would like to add a FK to (as a one-to-many relationship):

Imports System.Data.Entity
Imports System.ComponentModel
Imports System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations

Forms :: Skip Validation Of Active Control When Form's Close Button Is Clicked

Aug 12, 2009

Is there any way to skip a the validating event of the active control when the close button of the form is clicked. It is very annoying when user wants to close the form, but due to the validate event of the active control, it asks for the valid input. The user is forced to give valid input to close the form. I have searched a lot for this on net but no any proper solution could be found.

Make Data Validation?

Aug 11, 2010

I have dragged across the details of a table from the data sources onto a form. So VS2008 automatically generate the BindingNavigator, DataAdapter,Dataset, ...etc. On the form I hv also placed an errorProvider and listbox, which is bound to the bindingsource. So as user clicks on the items of the listbox, the values of the textboxes changes accordingly. My question is how do I validate the values in the textboxes.

Forms :: Saving Textboxes With Different Names

Mar 17, 2009

I'm totally new to the programming area. I'm using VB 2008 and I'm trying to save three textboxes in a text format. I have tried some code but my problem is that I don't want to save always at the same name (test.txt). How can I do it.

Here is the code that I'm using (and probably has lot of mistakes :'( )
Public Class Form1
Const mForm1Name As String = "c:est.txt"
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim Form1 As System.IO.StreamWriter
[Code] .....

I understand that the problem is on the top where I've placed Const mForm1Name As String = "c:est.txt", but when I'm taking it out gives back a mistake. Also my form doesn't close when I save.
