I have four textboxes,
I want textbox1 to accept only char data.
I want textbox2 to accept only numeric data.
I want textbox3 to accept only alphanumeric data.
I want textbox4 to accept only bolean data.
I have several textboxes in a form, and have a button which inserts all the values in a Database and I have to clear the content of all the textboxes and focus to the first one right after pressing the button.Now I can easily do that using the Clear method of each of the textboxes but it takes 10-12 lines of code just for that. Can I do that in one go?

Is it possible to force a combobox to run it's validation event without moving the focus out of the ComboBox?
I need the event (or an event) to trigger when an item is selected with the mouse or an entry is typed into the combo box. I tried using SelectedValueChanged and SelectedIndexChanged however, these events do not fire if the user types a value that does not exist in the list source. I know I can change the DropDownStyle to DropDownList however, I still want the users to be able to type entries in the combobox (with auto complete).
I'm using the following code to validate the text entered by user. It works perfectly fine. But I want to add the backspace feature so as to allow the user to delete the wrongly entered number.I have tried a couple of things and they worked but before last digit (after the decimal point) i.e. it does not allows to delete after the number has been completely entered.number is being entered in the format: 12313213.45

View 1 RepliesI have a form that I have been getting submissions that have punctuation and special characters that trigger the potentially dangerous Request.Form value error. I have been trying use the httpUtility.htmlencode and Server.htmlencode method to sanitize textboxes and textareas.All my tests do not fire because the built-in request validation of the 4.0 framework prevents the code-behind from executing to perform the sanitization. I have included the ValidateRequest in the page header but no matter what I set it too it still does the same thing.
This is the code I have so far.

Does the webclient make a new connection for every request or does the connection persists between uploads?

I have a solution with two projects. The main project connects to the second project via a reference, and the reference path is local to my machine. It looks like it references the .exe file.So when I publish the main project (ClickOnce), i get the following error:
Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue.In the log file, under Error Details, it says
System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (RefDefValidation)
- Reference in the manifest does not match the identity of the download assembly Project2.exe

How can I include this second project? Should I publish it, then reference the published files? What do i reference? The .application file?Is there a way to just include this second project, so when I do publish the main project, the second one just goes along with it?
I want to update a database based on the form that is currently activated. I had originally decided to use the GotFocus event. However I now understand that will not work as the form has controls on it. So I then thought I wouls use the activated event. This works but seems to fire multiple times. I put in the following code:

I select the form and make it activated and the message box appears about 15 times.Why does it do this? How should I handle this. Ok I need to have a message box pop up when a user clicks the "Add Patient" button and the message box should have multiple textboxes which include Patient name, Patient ID, etc. I guess my question is can I do this with a message box or do I need a new form to pop up when the button is clicked. The form is connected to a database and the info entered should be added to the "Patients" data table.

I know that i can use comparative operators to check the values are different, but i am using 6 different textboxes, and don't fancy typing. [Code] 36 times over, could somebody point me in the right direction for an easy way of checking that 6 textboxes hold different values. Also, as a sidenote, i would like to know if there is a way to check if all 6 are numeric in an easier way than typing is-numeric(textbox1).

I have a form with 5 text boxes, if you click in the first textbox and press the tab key it jumps to the next textbox.
so lets say I copy data from notepad :

and click on the first textbox on the form and press paste, it will only paste the first line.
Is there a way to add that "tab" character to the end of each line, so when I paste the data, it will automatically fill all the texboxes?
I know this is possible in browsers with plugins, but i want to do this onto an existing windows form which code I am not allowed to change.

This is a winforms applications not WPF.I have a checkedlistbox with a few items and I want to allow user to select more than one using arrows keys or mouse clicks combined with shift and ctrl keys so I set selectionMode property to multiExtended. In design time it is not possible I get an error: It says value property is not valid.and if I set it in runtime by doing:

I get an error too: It says CheckedListBox is not compatible with multiple selection.

how to change multiple textboxes without calling each specific name. I have about 10 textboxes and would like to change their maxlength based on the following conditions.
1- If the user select decimal i would like to limit the maxlength to 3 on all the 10 textboxes at once versus individually changing each textbox maxlength.
2. If the user select hexadecimal i would like to limit the maxlength to 2 on all the 10 textboxes all at once.
I have my menustrip with the standard edit items. I know I can do this:

I'm not sure how to do the following (in VB.NET), I'm hoping you will give me some insight or examples on how it can be done. My database is an SQL one.I have an assets table, which in it has the amount, growth percentage, income percentage. There are multiple assets per client.
I need to get the amount, growth and income into three separate boxes or variables and I'm not quite sure how to do this. The only other problem is that there would be two or three rows returned also, which need to have those three variables or textboxes again.
So for x amount of rows, I need 3 variables which the amount, growth and income will go into.
The reason I need everything into variables is that I can't find an effective way of showing each assets growth over x amount of years and the income it will produce into a data grid view. I'm able to do it if I specify what the growth and income are on the form, but not through the query.
