My.Settings: Run-Time Added Properties Don't Save

I found that there was the Settings.Properties collection as well as the Settings.PropertyValues collection, and hopefully i'm not doing extra work here, but i'm creating both, and then assigning a value to the Settings(PropName).
Defaultly, in my "static" settings (through the IDE designer window and such) I have 9 settings/properties, and at run time when I'm processing, the Settings.Properties.Count doeos indeed equal 9.
Now, in the process of my application I generate some "saved" control properties myself, and actively "add" them to the Settings:

This seems to work fine, and after the repetitive code (cycling through a collection) is finished, the Setting.Properties.Count does indeed equal 79, for the 70 new properties added.
I not only execute a My.Settings.Save() when the application exits, but I know I also have the SaveMySettingsOnExit set to true, but the next time i load up the app, my settings.properties.count is back to 9.

I am currently using vb 2008 and want it so when a user registers it will unlock all the extra features and stay that way even after the user quits and restarts the program... I already have everything set exept for the save feature. I don;t know exactly what to do. I just want to save the settings of my program so that they are the same every time somebody uses the program. I heard that you need to go into Project , then properties and then settings... But I don't understand what to do there...

I just wondered if you can or can't save arrays using the settings system object. There seems to be no way of entering it at designtime. It seems implied you cannot create new user settings.subobjects at runtime. I'm looking to find the easiest way to save a populated array of PictureBox's. If the only way is a self/custom made/managed .ini file then I need to know so i can start on that but I was hoping to use some of all this phaff in the new frameworks usefully.

The idea with this form is to add the futures which is calculated when the button is pushed but I need the list to update every time and show the values each time to which the previous value is added to the new calculation, e.g. of what it should look like in listbox:
Year 1: $1,290.93
Year 2: $2,724.32
Year 3: $4,350.76
etc....
I have been working on this a while and I am at a standstill, I was given a function to clear the form everytime it calculates but I don't know how to implement it, I am new to VB. Here is what I have so far:

i have created a user setting named 'setmeup' as string, scope = user, value = "magical meow meow!".in my code i access it and assign it a new value like this...my.settings.setmeup = "howdy cowboy!"my.settings.save()application.restart()when the application restarts, i expect the my.settings.setmeup = "howdy cowboy!" but when i check its contents its still "magical meow meow!".but when i use application.exit() instead of application.restart() and manually restart the program, my.settings.setmeup = "howdy cowboy!" which is correct.what must i do? i want to use application.restart() because i don't want the users to double-click the icon again to start the program. i want the program to restart automatically.

I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)

I've got a groupbox on my form. I changed its font and fore color. The problem is that when I add a button or any other controls like a label, checkbox etc to the groupbox, the controls are automatically changing their fore color and font to that of the groupbox. How to prevent this?

I set up some application settings for checkboxes on an app and then decided to remove them. When I set the Application Settings to (none) in the designer and restarted the app, the checkbox constantly checks and unchecks itself. I completely remade the app and removed the file that is used to store my.settings in the Local folder of the user's appdata profile. I also made sure to uncheck the "save my.settings" on shutdown.

I'm trying to save a collection of key/value settings in my application's "user settings" (they're column widths), but while I see no errors, when I run the code (in the IDE) my collection in "My.Settings" is always nothing at startup. I do a "My.Settings.Save" when the application exits, and barring the "serializers not found" errors in the IDE, no other errors occur. When I run my application as an exe, it behaves the same way..

I have a project where I have data in the my.settings part of the project. When I compile the project and run it on an XP machine, a Vista machine, and a Windows 7 beta machine, the data is not getting updated. In fact I can't even find the .config file that should be created when my application runs. I have a DataGridView which I AllowUserToAddRows behavior enabled. I want to be able to force that only one row be added at time, then if the user clicks the save button the row is inserted into the database, and then another row may be added if the insert was successful.
The reason I want to do this is to get the last inserted id and insert that information into another table.

I can finally filter my DataGridView every time a checkbox is checked or unchecked. However, I do not need it to filter out all of the messages each time a row is added, so I just need to check the current message. The following sub's demonstrate how I am doing this.

Great, they both work as intended...but I believe I am losing out on efficiency with the way I have this. I have tried adding another public sub CheckMessage() to run through the row, pretty much doing what each long list of If/ElseIf checks does.
IN the FilterLastMessage() I just call CheckMessage(), and in the FilterAllMessages() I call it like this:
For Each band As DataGridViewBand In MessagesDataGridView.Rows
CheckMessage()

This isn't working as it is unable to get the index for each message when I have it FilterAllMessages(). I'm just wondering about making the 2 sub's above more efficient so I can have it CheckMessage() just once, instead of it doing basically the same thing twice. Also, the messages all go on to a DataGridView, and this will be constantly writing messages to the window. After a while I would imagine that this will bog down the program, so I am wanting to keep the number of messages that are displayed < 2000. How is the most efficient way to achieve this?

I have a form in which I add 9 labels in Run Time with .add method inside a panel. When I try to remove those labels in Run Time using For Each Loop, only 5 labels get removed. My code is given below.Code to Add Labels

When i run the loop without .remove and .dispose it alerts .Text of all Lables present inside that Panel and With .remove and .dispose it does not remove all Lables and does not alert all .Text. In other words it misses 1 after 1.

I am currently wokring on a project, which is going to serve as an interface for accessing various documentation and reports. It is basically just a tabcontrol with a few pages that will be poppulated with buttons which will open the appropriate document.I am trying to allow administrative users the ability to add new, edit or remove buttons which all seems relatiively simple, but have run into the problem of how to persist the changes once they are made. I have a data bound DataGridView. The final column of this is for the last change date to see how new the data is. I also have a hidden label on my form that has the current system time and date. I am wondering how do I take the date that is on the label and insert it into the column for the last change date on the datagridview when ever a new row is added. This way it automates the process of putting the exact time that row was added.

I'm having a problem with a MySQL query for returning the "last visit" field in a table.Originally I had:select fname, lname, last_visit from patient where isactive = 1 and uid = 1Which worked perfectly in MySQL, but as soon as the query is executed by my ASP.NET app, it adds in the time field also to the date area. Does anyone know of a good way to save settings in vb.net?
The only way I know how to do right now is to make a registry key with a specified value and call upon it when the program loads up again.
I can't do this though because I have a whole lot of data I have to save.
can you save the data in a notepad and call it line by line to save each feature?

It's just a login form that is supposed to save your connection settings, but it won't save my values; they revert to the previous values every time I run the program. Does the IDE just not save your settings, or am I doing something wrong?
