Printing Information Using Console Program

Sep 8, 2011

I have created a program that allows me to print some information onto my screen, but now I would like to print this information to my printer. Is there a procedure or a command to print directly to a printer without having to create a new class?

Obtain Information From Active Directory In A VB 2008 Console Application?

Dec 29, 2009

I am new to VB; am developing my first VB program; and require some help in getting started. I wish to query information from an Active Directory server using a Visual Basic 2008 console application. I have .NET Framwork 3.5 installed and VB 2008 Express installed. Do I need to install anything else (any additional libraries or components)? Is VB 2008 Express capable of accessing information from Active Directory? Where can I find information about the classes and methods I should use query information from Active Directory?

VS 2010 Creating A Console Application That Will Create And Store Client Information As A .txt File?

Apr 24, 2012

Basically i am creating a console application that will create and store client information as a .txt file it is going okay but i have come across a slight hick up i want to use something on the lines of this .....

dim lastname as string
Do Until Integer.TryParse(Console.ReadLine(), LastName) = False
Console.WriteLine("Invalid input, Please try again")
Console.Write("LastName:-")

[code].....

this works fine to trap out numbers from letters but the problem i am getting is when the program calls uppon LastName it is recording 0 and wanted to know if there is a way of getting past this ..... so basically i need a way to allow letter but not numbers and symbols and then dispay a pernolised error message but at the same time use Stream writer to save was the answer is in a .txt file.

Either End The Program Or Start The Program Over In A Visual Basic Console Application - Based Upon User Input?

Apr 8, 2012

I have a procedure at the end of my console application that ask the user to either hit enter to end the program, or type s to perform another search. The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. The program is procedural and I need to find a way to start back off at the top of the program which ask the user to type a name to search.

DB/Reporting :: Crystal Report "requires Further Information" On Printing?

Dec 29, 2009

I have created a Crystal Report for my Visual Basic Web Application, developing with Visual Studio 2008. I have created a DataSet for my web project, giving it all the field names I need to fill in the report. I wrote code that obtains necessary data from a database and fills in an instance of this DataSet, then I push the dataset into the Crystal Report and display it. It displays fine, and the data is in place as expected. However, when I click on the "print" icon on the report page, and answer "yes" to the dialog box that asks me how many pages I want to print, it displays a page saying "The report you requested requires more information" and displaying four text fields, labelled ServerName, Database Name, UserName, and Password. It also displays the name of my dataset, as though it expects me to "log into" my dataset.

Printing From VB In Program?

Jul 31, 2011

printing from VB in my program. I remember the old days in VB 6.0 using the print cpommand and creating reports from code. Now, everything seems to be Crystal Reports...In my project, we need to print designed labels, tub tags, etc. to a label printer. In our current software, we do this by sending an ASCII String to the label printer that prints the label. Is there a way for me to do this without having to use Crystal Reports? I want the user to just hit a button after choosing the number of labels to print and have it print automatically.

Printing - Converted Vb6//.net Program?

Feb 7, 2012

I'm currently stuck on trying to fix this printing function on a project i'm working on, i've been trying for quite some time now with no good results. Keep in mind this is an in-house program with non-standard ways of programming, hence I fully expect to not get an answer if it's just too far complicated to understand with a block of code.

.net Program Is A Console Application?

Apr 13, 2010

I am maintaining some VB.net code and I am more of a C# programmer. I have taken over maintaining several projects from people who have since left the project. The manager tells me that some of the VB.net programs are console applications. Yet in looking through the source code I am not able to distinguish wether the code is for a console application or for some other VB.net program like a VB.net windows application. Can someone tell me if there is a way to determine if a VB.net program is a console application.

Jul 10, 2009

i'm working on a project that simply changes the wallpaper periodically...it works fine...I created two seperate projects...1) a forms application 2) console application........The forms application gets the data and settings from the user....the console application reads the data and settings from text files created in the forms application and does the job of changing the wall paper...i've got mine set to change every minute...I realy want to get this finished, but am stumped by a few things....

1) how can i get my console application to run as a windows service..have tried the SC Create command..no good.

2)how can i get it so the console program runs as an icon on the system tray near the clock.

3)When i want to publish to create the setup.exe...should i somehow merge the two projects together or publish each one seperatly and use some sort of batch installer.

Implement Printing Functionality Into A Simple Program?

Apr 22, 2010

I'm trying to implement printing functionality into a simple program for my company. It's not necessary, but it would be a nice finishing touch for everyone. And really, in practice, my printing feature works. My problem is that each line is printed on a separate page of paper and I can't find a way to just like, print a page.

It doesn't have to be fancy. I know that I won't need word wrap, nor will anyone ever print more than one page. Here's my ginked & modified code thus far:

Private Sub PrintDocument1_PrintPage(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Drawing.Printing.PrintPageEventArgs) Handles PrintDocument1.PrintPage
Dim linesPerPage As Single = 0

VS 2008 - Displaying / Printing Program Numerical Analysis Results?

Oct 23, 2009

I am writing a VB.NET Windows Application which takes numeric user-input and performs a complicated calculation, yielding many numeric output variables. Previously, I wrote a similar program in VB6, which output the results to a rich text box using fixed-width font in order to organize data in columns and used asterisks to delineate table areas and section borders. I then used the printer object for printing the output. This method was very archaic and difficult to modify when changes were necessary.

Raise Event When A Sql Database Connction Changes When A Console Program Runs?

Jul 27, 2011

I have a VB 2008 console application .NET 3.5 who handles large data tables in a SQL 2005/8 database. Sometimes when SQL server do not response as application expect. Then SQL Connection change status from open. I try to get the event of changed connection string before error occurs.

1 - SQL Connection status changes from open to another status

2 - When this event fires a fix sub routine or function starts and fix the sql connection

3 - Return back where SQL Connection was when status was affected by program.

My app is a large list of SQL Commands who runs in a class orginsed as a simple list of sqlcommands. When a SQL Connection fails I will start at the last point in the program after SQL Connection are open again.
