Receive Email In .net 2005 Part 2?

Sep 7, 2009

I have posted about receiving email before and this is a follow up of my progress. I have only one form and it consists of 2 buttons, one for downloading messages from the server, the other, to disconnect the connection. I also have one listview and one textbox to display the message. I took the codes from a few open source programming website and compiled them. My program works as such that upon clicking the 'Download Messages' button, a message box will pop up and the user/admin will be asked to enter the POP3 account name. My doubts are I am not sure what POP3 account name to put in.

Receive An HTML Document In An Email Which Has Some Special Pricing And Products?

Feb 10, 2009

We receive an HTML document in an email which has some special pricing and products. I want to be able to parse the data, perform some lookup operations on it, assign some pricing markups, save it to a data source for future referance and do it with VB.net and a web browser. I'd really like to use MSHTML.HTMLDocument, but all the documentation I have is based on HTTP URL's, but since these HTML pages will be opened from an eMail or saved to a fileshare, they won't have the HTTP. I've also tried to read it as a text file and parse with RegEx, but it's not very effecient and to be honest, RegEx is still a fog to me.

Would anyone be kind enough to suggest a way to do this? Is MSHTML able to do it and if so; how do I set up a reference to a non-HTTP URL?

Email & SMTP - Program To Send Very Simple Text Email Messages

Feb 17, 2009

I'm trying to get my program to send very simple text email messages. I did do a search beforehand, and found that I was having the same issue as someone else, but the specific question I have was not answered --

I've learned that if you're trying to send mail, you need an SMTP server... I found this list here but every one of them I've tried yields the same "Failure sending mail" error.

Here's my

Dim mail As New MailMessage()

mail.From = New MailAddress("me@mycompany.com")
mail.To.Add("destination-email@whatever.com")

[CODE]...

Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?

smtp.Credentials = New NetworkCredential("MyUsername", "MyPassword")
(before the smtp.Send, of course)

Email Validation - Create Program - Asks The User Type His/her Email Address Into A Textbox

Feb 9, 2009

I have to make a basic program that: Create a program with a simple interface that

1. Asks the user type his/her email address into a textbox.

2. When the user clicks the "Evaluate Email Address" button, one of two message boxes pops up: "That is a valid email address!" with an "Information" icon, or "That is an invalid email address!" and on a second line, "Please retype your email address.", with an "Exclamation" icon

3. To be considered valid, the email address must -include an "@" symbol, and -it must end in either ".com", ".net", or ".org" or ".edu" (I don't know how to check a string and test if its last four characters end with any of these and make it say not valid email address. I think I might have to use a case statement)

VS 2010 Best Option To Receive Emails In A VB Program

May 28, 2010

I've seen that there are several options out there for being able to send email from within a Visual Basic program, but I've seen much less written about how to use the program to receive emails. What I'd like to do is set up a dedicated email account (probably g-mail or Yahoo or something similar, although it could be through the email package that comes with my web hosting) that I'd use to send short text commands to the program from my laptop or smart phone. Periodically the program would download new emails (if any), and parse the body to see what I'm telling it to do. Something like, "cmd a" tells it to e-mail me Report A, "cmd b" tells it to e-mail me Report B, etc.

How To Insert AT Command Method Inside My Program To Receive Incoming Sms

Jul 9, 2009

May i know how to insert a AT command method inside my program to receive incoming sms?

My program is in visual basic windows form 2005.

Here is how my program goes.

After i click connect button in my application, the gsm modem will automatically read the incoming sms and display in the textbox on the program.

I already have the list of AT commands to be used, they are :

1. AT
2.AT+CMGF=1
3.AT+CMGL="ALL"

I also would like to know how to declare these commands as string inside the program.

Here is my program so far:

CODE;

This code is for the user to click on connect button which will connect to the serial port. So after connecting the modem will then auto read and display new incoming sms.

Create A Code That Can Be Called Apon To Activate But Not Receive Or Send Any Information Through The Program?

Jul 18, 2009

I have been developing a calculator for complex math. (Much more complicated than +,-,/,*, and above your usual scientific calculator)Its works quite well .In past programs I have used "private functions". I know that you give them a value and it returns on back. But what if you dont want to recive or send value? My example for this is a function I am attempting to make called "Autopi".The idea of Autopi is that whenever a mathimatical operation is about to be performed textbox(s) are cheked to see if they contain pi. (3.14 or 3.141) If they test positive Autopi will continue pi to however many places have been specifyed in the program. (Currently 300 places just beacuse i can :) Before the Autopi function does this it chekes to see if variable "pi" = 1. If it does it proceeds if it doesent its job is done

How would I create a code that can be called apon to activate but not recive or send any information through the program.And just to clarify what I mean by that is it will read information out of a textbox and write into it. But it wont actualy recive anything or send anything back from where it was called apon.

VS 2008 Server Program Can Receive SMTP Messages From Other SMTP Servers

Aug 14, 2009

I'm using the TcpClient and TcpListener classes to read/write to the network when a request comes in on port 25. All I'm trying to do at the moment is make it so that my server program can receive SMTP messages from other SMTP servers. I've tested in Telnet - if I connect to my own IP on port 25 and type EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA etc then all works as it should and the details I entered are logged by the program (it doesnt do anything about delivering these details/email yet).all looks good... but then when I try and just send an email to my domain from my work account I can see that a connection is made to my program and the string "EHLO workdomain.com " is received by my program - my program responds to the remote SMTP server with "250-mydomain.com Hello" and then a CrLF and then "250-OK". After that point however, my app does not receive anything further at all from the server at work. I'm guessing I am doing something wrong with the data I'm returning when it sends EHLO but can anyone point me in the correct direction?

I was using telnet to test with, it seems that I have made it work only with telnet.In telnet each time I type a key the data is passed to the server, however with a real SMTP server it just sends each entire command in one go. So after altering my server a little I can now get it to respond with the 250-OK which I thought it already was doing.. but it still doesnt work. The remote server just sends EHLO and then thats it nothing more.Something interesting, at the moment I am ending all of my responses to the remote server with VbLf - if I change this to VbCrLf (which is what I believe it is meant to be according to the SMTP standard) then I get an infinite amount of empty strings sent to my program (or perhaps some other character that just shows as an empty string in intellisense when stepping through the code). Changing it back to just vbLf or ControlChars.Lf makes it go back to just sending EHLO and then nothing else..

Distributing My Program By Email?

Aug 29, 2009

I'm trying to send my program (a very small program) to a friend by email, but the two methods I've tried are both causing errors at his end. I've tried the two methods described in the helps files - firstly, just finding the exe in it's folder, compressing and sending it by email. That worked for the first few files but now it no longer works. Secondly I've tried publishing the file using the build option to a DVD/CD (i.e file). The file works fine to install the program on my own machine, but when I send it to my friend (compressed again) he gets errors.
