View 1 RepliesThe application I am working with ignores the ALT key and just sends the 1 Keys because they are being sent too fast. I need to know if there is a way to slow down the Rate at which it sends the keys to something like 50ms?

Something happened to my VS2005 setup and now the first time load for F1 can take a full minute to load. I think the last significant thing I did was install an add-in for ESRI ArcExplorer. I uninstalled that add-in but help is stil VERY slow to start.Does anyone recognize the problem and have a simple fix?
View 2 RepliesI am using VB.Net with Access DB. Main form is a Parent MDI. Each form when open first time is slow. It takes noticible time. But, from second time it becomes very fast.
View 6 RepliesI am loading data from query into a dataadapter and then into a dataset.the datadridview datasource is the set to the dataset.but it takes too long to load the data into the datagridview.
View 2 RepliesThe project is a web app in ASP/VB.net. The issue is that some pages are mind-boggingly slow. After trying to track down the bottleneck, it was discovered to be the load method when filling a datatable with query results.
We are using an Oracle database and queries are executed in stored procedures. As an example, we have a relatively simple select statement within a procedure which returns 2 columns with 6 rows which was determined to take about 0.015 seconds to execute. However it takes on average 7 seconds to load the OracleDataReader into a datatable - a ridiculous amount of time for such a small record set. After messing around with the query, I found that a simple decode statement appeared to be causing the issue. The decode statement is used similar to as follows[code]...
The iBln variable is simply a number being passed in to act as a boolean variable for determining which column should be between two dates. If I comment this decode statement out and make it simply "column1 BETWEEN iDate1 and iDate2" then the load method takes no time at all as it should, signifying that it is indeed the decode statement causing issues.
I m inserting 30 to 50 records .then set table as datasource to report. It takes 5 minutes.Plz anybody tell me how to do it fast. Then my pc is hangedI have also tried adding datarows into datatable instead of inserting records into access database and set datatable to report.but same time cosumed.

I wrote last week about a problem with an MDI program that had a large number of forms (each with a large number of controls on it) that was "sluggish" in loading and in switching between the child forms.I've attached an example program in VS2008 (though the actual app is VB2010)Rather than show the hardware control application with all of the text fields, and picture boxes acting as indicators, I made a simple program to show the point. This is exaggerated as this just loads 2000 or so text boxes on a form. In the real app I have ~ 200 assorted controls per form of picture boxes, scroll bars, text boxes, labels etc. Also, there is a large full screen .jpeg as the back ground of each form. All are generated at run time and are placed on the form in the New call of each form. (as in the sample attached)main issue seems to be the methodology I use to switch between child forms. I make the current form .visible = false, and the next.visible = true. I have used this as it "keeps the place" on each page if the user has scrolled or is looking at one section of the form. When the next form .visible = true happens I see the controls added in a "machine gun" fashion instead of all at once.
View 28 RepliesI know some of you have been aware of my great frustration with the DataGridView control's rendering problem, and of my frenetic efforts to figure out a way around it. Well I stumbled upon the solution, posted by an obvious genius here: [URL] One of the responses to the post (which is in C code) showed how to do this using Visual Basic code.

im using krypton free toolkit and we all know the speed is not good?i should try and code in diffrent ways using more apps to do small stuff taking more load of app but just an idea?
View 1 RepliesI have a windows form which to summarize lets the user open a file containing 32 bit hashes, then search for one of them. The hash is then converted to its string representation. The application is giving the results I would expect but I'd like to make it execute faster than it does now; some files can be pretty big > 100 MB.
I'm doing the file read using a BackgroundWorker object to display progress updates and ensure that the UI is available during the process. But for that i need to add a System.Threading.Sleep(1) instruction in the loop; otherwise the application freezes with big files. And System.Threading.Sleep(1) creates a noticeable lag. Any suggestions on how to make searches fast without freezing the UI? Getting speeds comparable to hex editor programs for example.
I am currently using Florian Leitner's HID USB library in my VB.NET solution for communicating with a pin pad. As per his sample code, I set up an event handler to handle incoming responses from the device which are stored in an ArrayList called usbBuffer:
[code]...
The problem is that the RemoveAt is not working, since the first element in the list remains there after the handler is done. Could someone please advise as to what I've done wrong, or perhaps use a different approach?

View 1 RepliesThe MSDN page for this method says this: ArgumentOutOfRangeException. index is less than zero.-or-index is equal to or greater than Count. That doesn't make any sense, surely it should be "index is equal to or greater than (Count - 1)" Since index is zero based. I need to know since I'm Overriding the RemoveItem method for a Class that Inherits Collection(Of T).
View 6 RepliesHeres some test code I used. Just a checklistbox on the form with this code-behind:
Dim list As New List(Of String)
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
For i = 0 To 10
list.Add("Test " + i.ToString)
[code].....
I use a list to keep track of the items in the listbox, so if I remove one of those items from the listbox I want to also remove it from the list using the same index. If you use this code and load the form and then check all the items, youll notice that when you uncheck one it will remove the item and THEN also uncheck the next item...why is that?
I have a datagridview that takes time when loading, and once loaded, is also very slow when using the scroll bar to see the other rows.[code]..
View 12 RepliesI have a number of FTP routines all based on the code below. Why does this take 15 seconds to run the first time? [Code] If I use an FTP program like FileZilla or CuteFTP to connect to the same FTP server they make a very much quicker connection. Any ideas?

View 1 RepliesI have a problem I've been struggeling with for a full week now, and I'm not able to solve it by myself. I've been googeling, and searching in all kind of forums.I have found lots of "this might work", tried it, but no, no success. If anyone have any clue,I'v got, from an external source, lots of classes and functions written in VB that I need to be able to use from a C++ application. My first though was: no problem, I turn the VB code into a dll, and load it from my C++-program. This was though harder than I ever could imagine. My C++-program is not written in Visual Studio, but for simplicity I started with trying to load my VB dll (written in Visual Studio 2010) from a Visual Studio C++ application. This is my code so far:

I looked at the link with the tutorial, but there is a small problem: there are no such thing as "ActiveX DLL" to choose among all the project types. And yes, I do have Visual Studio 2010 Professional (a trial version, but still).

i made an app on win7 that uses shell32.dll but the way that win7 compile his own interlog.shell32.dll it makes the app don't work in XP. But if after i finish the app on win7 send the code to a xp machine and set the shell32.dll on XP the app will work fine.
so... if there was a way to make the app, at his first load, do search from needed dll to compile them for his needs, it will was fantastic.
