I have an app with a tab control and multiple tabs. I am looking for a "reset all" function that will set an individual tab's contents back to their default state (typically null). I realize I can go through and set each to "", unchecked, etc but I was hoping there might be a single function that does this already (save a ton of coding time).

So to start myself off I am trying to create some applications which I could use in day-to-day life to just basically make life easier.So the first program I am trying to make I am already confused and not sure what the heck I have to do in order to get it functioning, I've looked on lots of videos on you tube for tutorials and they have all done a great job but some videos just don't answer my questions.When I click a button and "Form2.Show()" appears, how can I make it so that when I type text in a list box in form2, it doesn't disappear when I close it? Then once I have known done that, how can I make it so I can choose a random string of text in the list box on form2 to show up on the click of a button on form1? Then a final question is, How do I prevent fields being reset in form1 & form2 on program close? Also, is it ok for me to make a thread asking 1 simple question? or do I have to ask a handful each time to save threads or something?
View 30 RepliesI am having trouble resetting all the controls on my forms. I have a log in page and a logout button. If i select the logout button I want all the data in the other forms to reset to their defaults so that if another user logs in it will be a blank application for them to fill in.

This code doesn't work because the strings returned in the select case block don't match any of the cases that are coded. I need a better way to do this, I imagine there is a more efficient way.
is it possible to build objects/classes in a way that every field in a table is represented as an object/control in a form? (I heard it, but I don't know if/how it can be done).
For example:
Description = textbox (with the necessary validations)
Country ID = Combo box (foreign key to a related table)
IsCustomer = Checkbox
so I can build a form by creating the necessary fields/objects in it, and every field is a form control with the necessary rules and validations already in place? This way, fields could be "reused" anywhere in the application retaining their characteristics.
I use a GridView control with paging allowed, when i select a row in the first page i can retrieve the values of all the fields including the hiddenfields with the instruction (GridView1.DataKeys(GridView.SelectedIndex).Values(0)). View 1 RepliesI have an ASP.NET page with a Wizard control containing several pages of form fields. The data is collected and inserted to a database from the code behind page. I need to set this form up so you can not only insert, but edit a record as well. Since the form is long and complex, I would rather use the existing one and not make a duplicate one for editing, especially since I want to keep both forms exactly the same and any edits would have to be made to both. But it looks like this is what I need to do if I'm going to databind it. But this would also involve putting the Wizard inside of a FormView, and then I'd have to use FindControl to access any of the fields which would mean altering all my already-existing code (which of course would be time-consuming). So should I manually enter all the values from the code behind instead of databinding it? Which is better, to use a FormView and have duplicate forms (plus have to go in and redo the way I access the fields), or to do everything from the code behind?

I'm working on an OWA portion, and OWA normally doesn't allow the textfields on the Login page to be auto-filled. Is there a way I can force this? Search through the OWA login page code, find the fields, then fill in the fields with preset/saved data?

I need to get data from a web application. I dont have access to database or the source of the app(.net).The web app works like this -- enter values in fields, click submit button, and the data associated with these fields are returned in a modal popup. I need to do the same programatically, without actually opening the browser.I need to know the name of the fields that need to be posted, and the URL. And then store the response.

View 9 RepliesOk, so I am building my own program to control a video player I have through telnet, I have everything else working except one thing.I have a reset button to reset the player, when I press it, it sends the string "Reset" and the unit resets without a problem.But when I add a code to close the winsock connection upon reset, it doesn't send the string to the unit. I am sure what is happening is the winsock is getting closed at the exact same time it is trying to send the string and so it fails to send, how do I make it close winsock AFTER the string has been sent? What I am trying tot achieve is the following:User inputs data in one form that saves to the dataset table no problems. On an edit screen I want the current data saved to appear in this page within all the relevant fields but when saving I want this data to add to the dataset table as an additional line of data so the transaction records are kept.I want to add a new datarow regardless of it saving one change or all 7 changes that are possble.
e.g. Line 1 - user inputs 7 cells of data Line 2 - user amends 2 cells of data Line 3 - user amends 1 cell of data an so on. Unfortunately the terminology for certain items above may not be correct as I am still new to this programming and still on a massive learning curve.At the moment I do not have the code for what I am trying to achieve as I really dont know where to start with it.I am currently able to save the data and have it appear in the "edit" panel however only the cells changed are saved an it overwirtes the initial input.

Every thing was working fine with Example A, only there's no option to remove the added contorls.When I added "Remove" control option with jQuery in Example B, HttpFileCollection can't get any file from input control added to the page.
I have seen on a few applications where there is a Pop-up page that has Tab controls on it with an several buttons on the bottom for Ok, Cancel and Help. These three buttons are on all 6 Tabs, but I don't think they actually have different button clicks for each tab. How does one have these three button on all the tabs but without having to have separate clicks statements.

View 2 RepliesI have a nested content page within a master page, upon load the the page retrieves from a SQL a list of controls to create (Field Type, FieldName) i.e. String, Username.The function loops around the list creating the controls on the webform in a Placeholder, this part works perfectly. The problem that I am experiencing is the request to obtain the value entered by the user in the dynamically created control, I need to perform this call following postback/callback.
If I take the Content page and make it a standard aspx page with no master page the application works fine. Unfortunatley taking the page out of the master page is not an option (unfortunatley a restriction by my client)

I use the Webbrowser control to access an ESRI web based mapping solution. When the ESRI map is loaded into an IE browser and the browser is resized then the map control resizing accordingly. When my Webbrowser control is resized the map webpage is not resizing properly.
I don't even know where to start with this problem. Is there some event that's not firing in the website? I can't simply refresh the whole website because the user may have panned and zoomed around. I want to just tell the website that the container control (Webbrowser control) is resizing now.

I'm currently refactoring an old Visual Basic DLL (VB.Net), which stores all of its data in one module called Globaldefinitions as public fields. There are about 200 fields, referenced thousands of times all around the code:

I need to change the module into a class with non-shared fields. This means, each and every of these thousands of references needs to reference the instance of that class:

How do I go about this efficiently?
Regular expressions operating on the source fall flat. Refactoring tools like Re-Sharper or CodeRush don't seem to offer this functionality. Visual Studio 2010 cannot do it automatically either.
my webbrowser controls shows an error msg when it detect errors in the page navigated, but i want it to be silent, i don't want to see any warnings.
