Aug 25, 2011I need a small app that randomly shuffles a set of preloaded numbers. The shuffling will be visible on the screen and goes on continuously (looping) until a key is pressed and as soon as that happens it will show the winning number.Am using visual basics 2008 to develop the application but my problem is when i start the app and hit a key it will loop through my numbers on the text file and it will also display the event but if i hit a key to stop it will not stop..I was workin on the app but my problem is how to stop the loop and resume on the with a keypress. below is the app codes.

Aug 29, 2011We have a Windows Forms application that needs to run on an ASUS EEE PC on-site. The application displays some data on the Form, and processes some data in the background. It is connected via Serial Port and USB to some custom electronics at the location. We could have used a regular 8051 microcontroller for processing and displaying the data, but since we added a barcode scanner along with a database into the equation, we needed a chip with an OS, so we went with the ASUS EEE PC minimalistic machine option, with Windows XP installed, and the platform used for coding the application as VB.NET and SQL Server.
We have two user logins created on the Windows machine - an admin login, and a limited user login. What we require is that when the employees manning the on-site location switch on the computer, and login into their limited user login, instead of displaying the desktop and exposing normal Windows functionality, the machine should directly start our Forms application, and not allow the user to quit or close or minimize the application in any way, but should only display our Forms application in full-screen mode. The Forms application should have a button which, when clicked, exposes the Windows Shut-Down dialog so that the machine can be shut down when not in use.

Aug 10, 2010I know similar questions have been asked/answered, but after looking across the net for 2 days I still haven't really seen an answer to the following question.rst, background info: My application starts at windows start as a user checkbox option (by using the run key in the registry.) I don't know if it is usual or not, but when the app auto starts on windows start, no saved user settings show up on the form (but they do when starting the program manually after windows is already running). I've tried both HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. In case anyone needs or wants it, my code for accessing the registry is:

Nov 12, 2011Attached is a sample program which demonstrates the problem I am having.
When the user loads the program they are presented with Form1. If they press Button1 without ticking the checkbox they are presented with Form2 which contains a toolstripmenu.
When they select toolstripmenuitem1 Form3 then appears as a child form of Form2.
The problem comes when they tick the checkbox on Form1. It is meant to load Form2 then automatically select toolstripmenuitem1 to load Form3 but instead it only displays Form3.

Mar 6, 2010I made a code that starts the Disk Check on boot time it works fine on Windows Vista and Windows Xp but on windows 7 I checked the path at were windows 7 stores BootExecute and it is on the same path. Maybe the system is blocking it. Or do i have to change the code.

Aug 31, 2009Im wanting to pull some data from our Remedy Server every so often. Right now we're having to do it manually; Data > Import External Data or New Database Query. The connection is called AR System ODBC Connection Source. We have to log into the server and then it pulls the info into the sheet. Im needing even if have to setup a conection myself first to just have this conection run every couple or two and update the excel sheet. We're using excel 03, Remedy 7.

Jan 25, 2010Just placed out first Windows 7 PC in to a production environment and noticed that system.file.io gives errors about file not existing when using mapped drives to a network server. I can access the file through Explorer on the PC. When I chnaged the path to UNC using the IP and drive name instead of the mapped drive letter all works fine. Strange thing is for a few days during the testing period the application ran on Win 7 using the mapped drives in the file.io path. Not sure why it stopped working or how it worked in the first place. Question is on Windows 7 it seems like it doesn't like mapped drives in system.file namespace. Is tis true or are there more steps I need to do in addition to this This works as is, but when I change \172....vol1 to r: it bails, hence the thinking Win 7 is stopping the access to mapped drives.

Dec 16, 2011I have develop a software which can run in different machine and when any update is available then it automatically update all the software dll and exe along with own.
In my software package, I have a Soft_updater.exe which run when update is available but in this case Soft_updater.exe runs and wants to update along with other update.In XP and windows 2003 server it runs perfectly but windows 7 and windows 2008 server it can not run. It's stop in process mode and wants an administrator permission so that it can update itself and along with all.My process have also "runas" administrator right.
I have change user account control settings as in Never notify me and give the software folder along with all exe in administrative rights. I also login as an administrator. But still now I have not solve this issue yet.

However, when I load the same program on a computer with a 8" display, I am not able to view all the contents on the windows form. Is there a way to correct this without manually resizing all the contents on the form?
