.net - Dynamic Linq Query?
Mar 14, 2011I have been trying the following but it returns unexpected results:

The above result returns both 'element' nodes however it should only return the first where element/subelement@id=1/subsubelement@id=3 However if results.Ancestors. is used it returns the correct 'subelement' and if that line is not included it returns a single 'subsubelement' whih is also correct I don't understand why when mvoing to the 'element' it returns both (I realise both have a subelement with id=1 but I thought each further query would filter out the presvious results)?

VS 2008 Add A Newly Created Textbox To A Dynamic Textbox Array
Aug 30, 2011I wanted to simply on click a button to add those newly created textboxes to an array of textboxes. Starting with those labeled "Address". But I am finding this very difficult. I am able to add those originally on the form into the array very easily. But am unable to add the newly created textboxes into the array.
Here is my code so far below.

I want to substitute the table name ie. BigC_Rangsit_0_ with a variable which contains the table name.say, during runtime the user selects a table from the dropdown list , that variable should be substituted with the selected table name dynamically in the SELECT statement.

so in LINQ I have:

Not sure what to do with _Values to make idnumber evaluate each value in the string.

May 17, 2011I have a table called Foo and I have two columns: Lorem and Ipsum, so the scheme of the table is:
Foo(Lorem, IpsumID)
I also have a table called IpsumTypes, which looks like this:
IpsumTypes(IpsumID, IpsumName)
I would like to write a LINQ query which will have the following result:
Headers: Lorem, IpsumName1, IpsumName2, ..., IpsumNamen
Values: Loremi, count(IpsumName1), ..., count(IpsumNamen)
Each row represents a group of Lorem value and the number of each possible IpsumID in the group. New rows can be added to the IpsumTypes table, rows can be deleted too, so I need dynamically generated columns, because at the time of writing the code I'm not aware of the possible values of Ipsum. How can I achieve this? Is there a magical Linq query which solves this problem, or should I get the values from the database and parse them separately, if speed counts?

I think that the problem is that the code is counting own a present length in the header, which is
not the case for a dynamically created page. (i.e. you dont know the length until you are done) As
such, the code should be written to read the entire reply.

The user wants to dynamically construct a query referencing tables and columns and specifying values to test for.I have looked at Lambda Expressions and the Expressions.Expression Namespace. I think these provide the answer I'm looking for, but I'm not certain how to go about contructing the linq expressions to extract the datarows I'm looking for.
I plan on limiting the result to one datatable that the query will result in and i"ll provide the joins from the user's constructs.For a simple example I have a DataTable with (n) rows called "Table", and in it there is a computed column called "b_IsActive" that has the expression "Convert(IsActive, 'System.Boolean')". The user wants to retrieve all rows in "Table" where field "b_IsActive" is true.

Aug 24, 2009I want to query an access database with variable data defined by the user. The "Search" criteria would be in a textbox. I made a query like

WHERE (askID LIKE 'Textbox10.text%')
and referring to this query as
Form1.ChitaTableAdapter.searchrec(Form1.ChitaDataSet1.chita)But id does not take the value of the textbox, instead it takes the Textbox10.text as a value. Is it possible to refer to it like this, or should I Linq?

Jun 7, 2011I'm trying to query old Access database tables and compare them with SQL Server tables.They often don't have primary keys, or they have extra fields that had some purpose in the nineties, etc., or the new tables have new fields, etc.I need to find records - based on a set of fields specified at runtime - that are in one table but not another.So, I do this kind of query all the time in SQL, when I'm comparing data in different tables:
dim fields_i_care_about as string = "field1, field2, field3"

It tells me it can't convert a Boolean - Is there any way to do this without Linq expressions? They seem far more complex than what I'm trying to do here, and they take a lot of code, and also I can't seem to find examples of Expressions where we're comparing two fields in a subquery.Is there a simpler way? I know I could do the usual EXISTS query using JOIN or IN - in this case I don't need the query to be super fast or anything. And I don't need to use a DataTable or DataSet - I can put the data in some other kind of object.

I know that there is a library out there called dynamic LINQ, but (1) it's in C# and I'm writing in VB (2) I'm really just looking for a single, simple solution for this single case.

May 18, 2011I am generating 4 textbox at run time at a time when click on a addbutton. if i am click on the addbutton then it will generate 4 button bellow the first 4 text box as proper arrangemnt. all these i am placed in a panel and i put scoll bar for panel also. Now my problem is after generating 25 rows i am getting big gap for ext 4 text box row.
My questin is why its not take this gap when i generated 25 raw of each 4 text box after this gap again it coming fine with next 25 raw with 4 textbox each.then agin it take a long gap..

Can't Create A Dynamic Textbox With A Tooltip?
Jan 12, 2012I was wondering if some of you can help me with a problem I can't seem to get around. I've got a database that contains a list of users who are connected to an application. The usernames and number of users connected will be random. What I need to do is to display two dynamic text boxes and also have a dynamic tooltip for each of the text boxes for each user displayed. If you look at the attached screenshot I drafted up, I'll only use the first user 'John' for this example.I will hardcode my example because getting the data from the database isn't the issue I'm having. My problem is figuring out how to make the text boxes and tooltips unique for each time someone visits the form. I would also like to be able to set the text within the boxes as well. So, I would need two textboxes for John called:

Dynamic Textbox Data Has Been Changed?
Mar 3, 2009I have a form that builds and populates dynamic text boxes from parsing a file. There is a "Last Name" text box that when populated, also labels a tab page with the name. After the form is populated, the user can change data as they desire but I was wondering how to update the tab page text when the user updates the last name text box? All the controls are built in code.
