Saving Custom Colours In A Colordialog Display?
Aug 2, 2012
If you are working on a project that requires non-standard colours for text, it is possible to choose your colour by specifying the RGB components in the boxes on the colorpicker or by moving the mouse around until the desired colour is obtained. This can be put into one of the custom colour boxes and used until the program is shut down. Is it possible to save that colour to the custom colour box so that the next time the project is run, the chosen non-standard colour re-appears in the custom colour box?

A user places the cursor in a table cell and clicks on "Table > Background Color" to edit the current background colour.Currently I have been able to detect the current colour (for instance a light blue) and set that colour in the ColorDialog (Colour swatches are correct and RGB values are correct). What I would like to do is enable the user to click on the "Add to Custom Colors" to save the colour. Problem is, it sets the first square in the custom colours area (which happens to already be filled in with another custom colour), rather than finding the next square that is white and set it there instead.

the new program I'am developing will enable the user to customise form and text colour.hese settings are to be applied to all forms used throughout the System. The method breakdown is as follows:1. User selects colour of form and text through hovering over a rectangle object of relevant colour.2. That information is stored to a text file.3. As the system is accessed again at log on, the settings are applied to all forms.

This will sound an unusual question but I'm looking to find a way to reduce the number of colours of an image in a PictureBox from 1,000's to 15 and then apply a custom palette of 15 colours using a closest fit algorithm...
My graphics are never larger that 64x64 pixels generally, so the processing power / overhead needed to perform this operation is relatively small!
The inital algorithm I wrote is very slow and requires me to loop every pixel in the image and loop my palette doing a comparison to find a best fit colour.
Finding a decent method to do an initial colour reduction would be great!
I wondered if there were any inbuilt VB commands for PictureBox, etc that could be used to aid me in doing this...

I would like to create a little list in my Windows Form showing a list of custom colors with their 'friendly names'. Technically it can be anything (ListBox, ListView, Panel etc... whatever).
I simply want it to look something like this:
I would like to store data for this list in a simple TXT file in such form:
Quote:
Blue,Blue
Red,Red
#F6A118,My favourite color
#004080,Another color
And of course I would like each element on such list to be clickable, so if I'd click 'My favourite color' it should return the color's HEX value (#F6A118).

Public Class Form1
Dim x As Integer, y As Integer
Dim img As Bitmap
Dim pixelColor As Color
Public Function getpixel(ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) As Color End Function Private Sub find_img_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles find_img.Click
[Code]...
whenever i load the image, i have to load it a second time to get the colour, or if i load a new one, i get the colour from the previous image, any ideas as to why?

how to specify a custom icon for display in the toolbox window when you create your own custom control? Something other than the dreaded "gearbox" icon.

I've been working with controls and a flowlayoutpanel (see image) to provide a user a good looking "Menu" from a list of items on my server. Anyway, since there will be a lot of custom controls (The boxes inside the flowpayoutpanel) I am trying to save them some how on the user's settings so it won't have to request the list from my server every time. Thus making the program load faster and saving my server a heavy load of bandwidth. I'll go into a little more detail what the controls consists of. Its mainly just labels, pictureboxes and some hidden strings, when the program gets the list of all items from the server it will grab and separate the info for each control.
So the main question here is, is it possible to save a control and load it again even after the program is closed / reopened? The first thing that came into my head was to write a code on exit, that will go through all the controls in the flowlayoutpanel, get the label's text and picturebox's image locations, etc.. save all that info to a setting, and on the next program startup, it will load the setting instead of fetching the data from my server.

I have an application that collects data from the user and reads data from the serial port. After the user has entered the data and the data from the serial port received, I would like to be able save those data into a file, preferably in some database format (e.g. Access mdb file) Can anyone help me with this, I am very confused with vb.net. I have created an Access database and connected it to my "solution", I also have created a datagridview on the form that connects to a table in the database. Now I basically want add two buttons (or menu items) on the form, one that does a "Save As" and allows all of that data to be saved into a separate mdb file, and one "New" button that opens a blank copy of the mdb file for more data to be entered.

I have encountered a problem at the end of my project. I basically have a really nice RichTextBox control which I have made with help from others, which supports images, text colors, text higlighting, text size, background colors, etc. My problem has come when I try to save the data from the file - it loses text color, formatting, images etc. Is there any format in which I can retain the formatting or should I make my own file type with all the data embeded in a HTML-ish sort of structure, eg:

What I am attempting to do is make a form for a tire shop. I want to put comboboxes on the left side of the form that the employees make choices from. I then want to put some kind of a table or grid looking thing on the right side of the form that will display their choices so that everyone in the shop can look at it see that "John is on bay 5 until 3:00pm". At the end of the day I want all of the combobox choices to save to a file..I dont really need the table or the grid thing to save..just the choices. If I want to do this, do I need to use that gridview tool? or can I make my own table thing to display the choices in.

I need to change the display resolution to a custom resolution like 1240x712. I already tried it by using the win32 API to call ChangeDisplaySettings but that fails to set the display to any custom resolution. And besides a friend of mine said I maybe could use DirectX to do this one, is that a possibility?

I'm an amateur programmer who's learned quite a bit from online references, and usually searching eventually reveals the problem but I'm stuck!I've overcome many obstacles when creating a custom button on the Ajax Editor control, namespace issues, registring the controls properly etc. I resist the temptation to ask for help because the errors should lead me in the right direction. Now I get no errors, but the control isn't visible! The tag is in the .ASP page and I even set the width, height and visible tags in case it's being hidden but nothing shows up.

i am working on a virtual make-up software and the only thing i lack to totally finish it is the lipstick part. is there a way that i can trace the edges of the lips of the picture that im editing and fill its insides with colors from a colordialog that will serve as if it applied a lipstick. just like what they have on jkiwi that users will jut trace the edges of the lips and then the color will automatically be filled out and it can be changed by choosing a color in a dialogbox.

I have a list of colors i.e.: "1323523, 12342, 2354, 356234, 234234"Each of these numbers stand for a color. I would like it so that when there is colordialog.showdialog, this list of colors shows up in the colordialog custom boxes. This is how i am doing it currently, but for some reason the customcolors are not being added. i know for a fact that my array is good because i checked it.
