I have data in this format: [URL] which can be random in the amount of sections, etc.I want to split it so i can then use the data in my windows form, this is how to decode the data[URL] am struggling, ive got the file already split, as metarItems = Split(metarData, Environment.Newline) so metaritems contains the individual lines. The first 2 parts are always the same, ie EGBB 181320Z are always in same place?
I'm having a bit of trouble learning the uses of partial classes. I know they are used to split a class into several pieces for convenience but I don't understand how to put all of this into play. I'll show you what I mean here:
Lets say I have an interface named "ICar":
.NET Public Interface ICar Sub TurnOn()
[Code]....
OK, now that I have all of that, how do I put it to simple use in my partial class "OffRoader"? (You can add a "console.writeline" event to the methods if you want, in order to show me the uses of these partial classes.)
I'm having some trouble compiling some VB code I wrote to split a string based on a set of predefined delimeters (comma, semicolon, colon, etc). I have successfully written some code that can be loaded inside a custom VB component (I place this code inside a VB.NET component in a plug-in called Grasshopper) and everything works fine. For instance, let's say my incoming string is "123,456". When I feed this string into the VB code I wrote, I get a new list where the first value is "123" and the second value is "456".However, I have been trying to compile this code into it's own class so I can load it inside Grasshopper separately from the standard VB component. When I try to compile this code, it isn't separating the string into a new list with two values. Instead, I get a message that says "System.String []". Do you guys see anything wrong in my compile code? You can find an screenshot image of my problem at the following link: click to see image This is the VB code for the compiled class:
I'm trying to use one project as a reference for writing another project, and I want to see as much code as I can from that project on another monitor. Since Code is only so wide (assuming you break-lines), I have a lot of wasted horizontal space. Is there any way in the IDE to do a vertical split of a class code window? I know you can do a horizontal split, but although that shows you two sections of code at once, it doesn't increase the amount of code you see, because it sacrifices one code's space for another.
I am trying to learn the new methods in .net, but, I cant see a way to step through the data like you can in an ado recordset. I want to pull data from a table once, then split the data with a filter, then step through the rows gathering the dtata till eof. Clear the filter and reset it for the next batch.
I am using Visual Basic express to create a serial interface to a multi-room audio controller. I have started by creating a form that can connect to the controller and I can type commands into a text box and have set up a button that sends that text to the serial port. This text is displayed in a big text box as well as the feed back from the serial port (multirom audio controller).
Here is an example of what I send and receive to and from the controller;
I send *Z01STATUS (query's the Zone 1 status of the controller)I then receive the data from the controller #Z01PWRON,SRC4,VOL99 (This tells me Zone 1 is on, Source 4 is selected and the volume is at level 99 I can easily create buttons to turn the zones on and off and control the unit. My problem is I want to make things change on my form coresponding to the data received. ie I want to display the current volume of each zone and whether thetay are on or off etc. How do I get the individual bits of data from the data received. IE how do I get the VOL99 to show 99 in a text box?
I am writing an automation program for an associated research HYPOT tester and one of my current problems is trying to split the data i recieve back from the box.Currently i have two commands i use TD? and SALL? both do the same thing but return different data. TD? when sent to the box will return the test results and of course there is no auto return when test is complete so i have to either set some kinda of timer to get the data after the test is complete or just keep pinging the box tell the test returns with either a pass or fail.my problem is when i ping the box with TD? it returns
"M11,ACW,test results{pass|fail},1.50,10.00,10ms"
What I am trying to do is use a split command to split that line into strings based off "," as my dilimeter. Currently i am useing this set up
dim resultstring as string = main.serialport1.readexisting dimresultarray as string = split(resultstring, ",",6) txtTestResult.Text = resultarray(2)
for the most part is does return the test results but other times it will either error out saying that resultarray(2) is out side the index or it will display one of the other strings (acw or 1.50).Is there a more accurate way to do this.I am also printing the full string pulled from the buffer into a text doc as a data log.
how can i split the recieved data to my vb.net application and then save it, so for example whatever starts with e must be appended to a textfile and whatever starts with a must be display in the label.[URL]..
I am trying to split a long string based on an array of words. For Example:Words: trying, long, array Sentence: "I am trying to split a long string based on an array of words."Resulting string array:Multiple instances of the same word is likely, so having two instances of trying cause a split, or of array, will probably happen.
I have a text file which has the format A;UK;WN0XKKF;XX377SL;POSS TRADE MONITOR A;UK;N6HXS;XX361NG;POSS TRADE MONITOR A;UK;DU58XPK;XX37 6UR;EXCESSIVE WASTE MONITOR A;UK;R251YXF;XX36 ZHA;POSS TRADE MONITOR
I am trying to read the code, and pull out the 3rd, 4th and 5th set of each line in to a datagrid. Dim list = New List(Of datagrid) Dim FILE_NAME As String = "C: est.txt" If System.IO.File.Exists(FILE_NAME) = True Then Dim objReader As New System.IO.StreamReader(FILE_NAME) Do While objReader.Peek() <> -1 [Code] ..... I get the reg come up ok, but then it errors out with Index was outside the bounds of the array.
I am trying to split a long string of data into an array:
[Code]....
Ive tried a few ways to write out the regex, but to no avail. Also, sometimes responseFromServer2 contains newlines, and sometimes it does not, depending on the response I get from the server...
i am try to read from a file and then split the data and store them in an array but i am getting an error. can someone please point to the right direction here is the file i am trying to read from
Okay so what I'm trying to do is get the filename from OpenFileDialog/SaveFileDialog, only without the full path, and dump said filename into a variable so I can use it for other things.
Using the Split function, I can get any part of the array between the delimiters (""), but what I'm trying to do is get all the information after the LAST delimiter in the string.
i need to take data input from a textbox such as this
13:41 A spider loses 20 hitpoints due to your attack. 13:41 You gained 18 experience points. 13:41 Loot of a spider: 2 gold coins, meat 13:41 A wolf loses 25 hitpoints due to your attack. 13:41 You gained 27 experience points.
I got this .dbf file with 80,000+ objects. Using vb.net 2008 I am trying to export the data from the .dbf into a .mdb file. Problem is that when I try to open the mdb file in Access, it says that the file reached the maximum limit of records. I found out that .mdb files could only hold 32,700 + objects in one database.
Is there another way around the maximum number of objects such that I could fit 80,000 object in it? If not, is there a way to, instead split the data from the datagridview into several parts that can be saved into multiple .mdb files?
I got a question. I have a textfile name membership.txt and using vb2008. However my code found error when try to grab the data to an array. I use delimiter "|" to separate between each data in line to save in specific column in database.
I'm really hoping I can describe this question in an understandable way. This is a puzzle that I have not been able to begin to solve even though I (mostly) understand it. I'm just not sure where to start, and I'm really hoping someone out there can get me headed in the right direction.
I have a LARGE table of data. It describes relationships between objects. Let's say the Y-axis has items numbered 1-1000, and the X-axis has items 1-1000 also. If item #234 on the Y-axis is related to item #791 on X, there will be a mark in the table where the row and column cross. In some industries this is referred to an a Truth Table. One can, at a glance, see how many items in a system relate to each other. The marks in the table can help to identify trends and patterns. Here's some other helpful stuff about the nature of the table:
The full range of the number of relationships (r) for each item on either axis can be 1 <= r <= axisTotal. The X and Y axis will share common items, but each axis will also have items that the other axis does not. Each item will only exist once per axis. It can be on X and Y, but it would only be on each one 1 time. The total number of items on each axis will most likely NOT be equal. Each axis could have from 50 to 1000's of items.
The end result is that this is going to be a report that needs to be printed. We have successfully printed a table that had about 100-150 items on each axis on an 11in X 17in piece of paper. Any more than that and it begins to be so small it's unreadable.
What I am trying to do is split the super large tables into smaller tables, but related points need to stay together. If I grab item 1-100 on X then I would need each item they relate to from Y.I've generated a number of these tables and, while the number of relationships CAN be arbitrary, I have never seen an item relate to all other items. So in real practice the range is more like 1 <= r <= (10% * axisTotal). If an item's relationships exceed this range, it can be split up into multiple tables, but that is not optimal at all.
At the end of the day I think we, and our clients, would be happy if a 1000x1000 item table was split into 8 to 10 printed pages of smaller, related tables. One other thing worth noting, there will be no empty rows or columns in the table. Every item on both the x and y axis will relate to at least 1 item on the opposite axis.
I am trying to split an array into a jagged array for easy manipulation, but I am having a bit of trouble with the Copy method of Array. This is what I have:
Dim masterData()() As String = New String(splitCounter.Count - 1)() {} For i As Integer = splitCounter(0) To splitCounter.LastIndexOf(splitCounter) Array.Copy(ServerResponse, splitCounter(i), masterData(i) = New String(), i, splitCounter(i
I'm designing a small GUI Windows program that allow staff at a cinema to reserve seats for customers. There will be a total of 60 seats in the cinema. I have two classes in my program:-
1.) MainForm.vb - used for I/O actions and user interaction
2.) SeatManager.vb - used to hold and handle the background methods and functions that make the program work
Here is the code for my MainForm.vb class thusfar:-
Public Class MainForm Private Const m_totalNumberOfSeats As Integer = 60 Private m_seatManager As SeatManager
[Code]....
Basically, when the program opens, the lstReservations list in the MainForm class will be populated with a total of 60 (m_totalNumberOfSeats) entries to represent 60 seats. Each of these seats will contain the index number from the array m_nameList; this index number (+1) will represent the seat number and then in the lstReservations list, after the seat number, I'd like it to contain the respective entry from the m_nameList array. As all entries will be held in RAM, when the GUI is opened, all m_nameList array entries will be empty. As the user uses the program, they can highlight a row in the lstReservations list and then use the GUI textboxes to enter the customer's name which will then be populated into the respective array entry.
how to, when the GUI opens, ensure that the lstReservations list takes all of the blank entries from the m_nameList array and from there, I can highlight a row to carry out further methods on?
I would like to create a split container with a three way split. The first split is a vertical split. The second is creating a horizontal split within panel2 of the first split container. panel1 will hold a treeview control the other two panels will hold listview controls
I think this question has been asked already in a couple different ways and I've reviewed those posts and I've tried to do what was suggested but it doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried to place a second split container inside panel2 of the first split containter. This gave me what appeared to be a three way vertical split.
I'm trying to split a Yahoo historical stock price csv file, downloaded into a string, by what looks like a space character. I want a new row for each split. The split function works for other characters I see in the string. I suspect the characters may be a non breaking space character but I've been unable to split on them. This is the test csv file that is downloaded into the string: [URL] I'm trying to split the string like this:
How can I data scrub a collection of data? I am working with existing VB.NET code for a Windows Application that uses StreamWriter and Serializer to output an XML document of transaction data. Code below.
Private TransactionFile As ProjectSchema.TransactionFile Dim Serializer As New Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer(GetType(ProjectSchema.TransactionFile)) Dim Writer As TextWriter Dim FilePath As String Writer = New StreamWriter(FilePath)
rewriting a class I use for saving Treeview data to a XML file for use of saving ListView data I can't really figure out the rewrite, I'm stucked, unfortunately Listviews seems to be a big problem for me in general.
Option Strict On
''' <summary> ''' The TreeViewDataAccess class allows the nodes within a TreeView to be ''' persisted to xml for later retrevial. ''' </summary>
If Class X is within the scope of Class Y, is X a subclass of Y?If Class A is a sub Class of B, then is Class B considered a super class of A?if Class C inherits Class D is Class D a superclass or parent of Class C?if Class E extends Class F then we can consider Class E a child of F?if Class G inherits Class H and is within the scope of Class I then who is the parent of Class G? Classes that inherits Class J and classes that are within Class J are all sub classes of Class J?
I am trying to create a class in vb where I can store data on its properties, then I want to use that object to populate data in a data grid or any other output. I just want to know how to start adding data to the class. This is what I have so far, I know
My Class: Public Class Items Public Property PartNo() As String
I have put this code in the global form Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form. And then in the form that will inherit this from the global Inherits MenuStrip. "MenuStrip" is what the global form is called. But keep getting this error: Error1Base class 'MenuStrip' specified for class 'Lesson2' cannot be different from the base class 'System.Windows.Forms.Form' of one of its other partial types.
