I have a project with widnow forms. On a form i hava a textbox, datagridview and a button. My datagridview is bounded to my database. I will like some help with updating datagridview with text that i add with my button to database. I tried the update and refresh on my datagridview but there is no update seen when form is active. If i close and open the form then the changes are being seen on datagridview. This is my code for button click event:
I have been on a database project for a while now. I wanted to be able to make changes to my database using the update command of a Datagridview control. However, I have been faced with a series of unsuccessful outcomes.I want to do this how do I go about it?
I want to make my applications to have a self update function. My applications have only one file, the main .exe. For updating, I want to use the best way: the program download it's new version overwriting itself; and on next start the program will be the updated version. I tried to use the ShadowCopyFiles, but all the times the main file is locked, so cannot overwrite it (or delete or anything). I found many examples in the internet like this:
i m having problem while updating my database... In this code when i delete records then it will deleted but it can't show updated data..for viewing new updated data i hav to again open the form ... so is there any code which i miss? to update database @ runtime?
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim con As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=D:\SmS Application\New.mdb") Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand Dim ds As New DataSet
I am popolating a DataGridView with a DataSet from an SQL database like in example bellow.
After I am making some changes I need to know how can I save modified data in SQL database>
Let's say that I have a form with a DGV and a button. On load I will put ten lines from a tbale from database inside the DGV. Then i will make some changes and after that when I click on the button I need to save the modified information. Everything has to be done on runtime.
Objective to clear the datagrid view after updating. This should happen when the user clicks the OK button when the update is confirmed. Below is what i have.I currently have
Private Sub SaveToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveToolStripMenuItem.Click 'This updates datsource Try
I am using Visual studio 2008. I didn't see a place to post questions about this . I am creating a mobile application, at run time the executable itself is not updating to show the changes from source code i have written. I feel there must be a setting or something in visual studio .
I am working on a silverlight project in which i am using the entity data model. I have a consol application in the same solution through which i am creating the database table at runtime. Now when i moves to silverlight page i need to update those newly created database table in the entity data model. Is there any way to update model at runtime.
If using a datagridview to update a database and the datagridview is bound to a bindingsource which has its datasource as the table to be updated: where dshould you place the tableadapter.update(mydatarow)
I am beginning to work with .NET technology after several years of VB6 and C++ and I want to learn as fast as possible.
My problem is with a DGV. It shows the prices of several store items, and I intend to let the user modify those prices by entering a % in a textbox (radio button states if that % is positive or negative) or by editing cell by cell manually.
As editing prices is kind of sensitive, what I do is loop through the DGV, add or substract the % engtered in the corresponding column and ask for a confirmation after whole DGV loop is done. If user agrees, DB is updated with new values. No problem here.
If user denies (in case he/she made a mistake), I restore grid's DataSource to a copy I made before calculating new percentages and this automatically refreshes my grid to its original state.
The issue is that if a user denies the operation for a 2nd time, this 2nd execution of the code fails at showing the original values, disabling the pseudo-rollback function.
Here is the code: . . . If MessageBox.Show(mensaje, "Actualizo", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo, MessageBoxIcon.Warning) = DialogResult.Yes Then

remember this works OK if user denis once. What am I missing regarding DataSources or its Tables? Is there anything like .Redraw?
Btw, I tried update, refresh and I also used a sleep function (this helped me a few times back in VB6...).
I have a situation where i'm populating records in datagridview from a table where first column is the ParameterName, Second Column is ParameterValue and third column is ParameterType. When i click on second column in any row as per the records, it should show the control type in this cell as per the third column parameterType.[code]
i nid to create a program that assigns a student to the available section. i want to populate my data in datagridview using mySql as database..while populating these data.. the datagridview should create a new checkbox column to select/deselect records.
I have a datagridView(DGV) on one of my form.DGV contains a column of type DatagridViewComboboxColumn.I have another column of SrNo.
Consider Table1 to be the table from where my DatagridView is filled which contains following fields SrNo,Value1,Value2.
My requirement is i want to fill the values in my DatagridViewComboboxColumn from Table1.The DatagridViewComboboxColumn's combobox should contain values of columns Value1,Value2 of Table1.
Sample data of Table1 SrNo Value1 Value2 1 2 3 2 4 5
As data in datagridView is filled from Table1 the data of SrNo column of Table1 is also populated in one of the column of DGV.
Now my DatagridViewComboboxColumn combobox should contain the values of Value1 and Value2 of Respective SrNo.
Like Row one of my DGV has SrNo 1 as first value,so the Value1 and Value2 of SrNo 1 should be added to the row's DatagridViewComboboxColumn.
Select distinct Value1,Value2 From Table1 where SrNo=DGV.items(0,DGV.currentcell.rowIndex).value.H ope this Query willl make things more clear
I am using the follwoing code to generate Menustrip at runtime. Dim dgv1 As DataGridView dgv1 = Me.MenuDataGridView ReadMenuInGridView(dgv1) Dim MItems As New SortedList(Of String, ToolStripMenuItem) For Each dgr As DataGridViewRow In dgv1.Rows [Code] .....
Where the sub "ReadMenuInGridView" passes the DGV by reference and populates it with the menu item from the database. My question is,, the program as it is in the form listed above works fine (where I have a DGV "MenuDataGridView" created at design time), however, if I want to make it 100% dynamic and use a DGV created at run time I will not get the menu? Actually the program will not get in to the For loop?
Simply to do that we can replace the first 2 statement with: Dim dgv1 As New DataGridView 'dgv1 = Me.MenuDataGridView
I want to export data into datagridview to excel, but i want to load office library in runtime: i have wrote an application that use office com library and export correctly all datagridview data to excel, but now, i want to use office in runtime, so i don't want to have a reference project of excel library.
Is it possible to load a com library in runtime and use that?
I'm using Visual Basic 2008 in Windows 7. I've added a datasource to my project and dragged an element, a sort query, from Data Sources onto my form. It automatically created a DataViewGrid and placed this statement in my form load event: Me.SortBillsTableAdapter.Fill(Me.DoBills_2009DataS et.sortBills). The datagrid view shows all the fields/columns. When I preview the data element from right clicking the element, selecting Preview Data, and click Preview in the Preview Data dialog box, the data appears. But it does not appear when I run the app. The datagridview is empty. What am I missing to get the data to display in the grid at run time? I did notice that in the properties for the dataviewgrid the databindings property is empty. Is that right or am I supposed to do something there?
I have a readonly datagridview that is bound to a datasource. It has two columns. Now I want the first column to have no cell borderstyle; and the second one to have 'All' (i.e. all sides of the cell shall have a border) as cell borderstyle. Before binding the datagridview to the datasource, I'm writing something like mentioned below but it's taking no effect. Assume the column in question is named DisplayName.
Code: Dim newStyle As New DataGridViewAdvancedBorderStyle() With newStyle.Top = DataGridViewAdvancedCellBorderStyle.Single .Left = DataGridViewAdvancedCellBorderStyle.Single .Bottom = DataGridViewAdvancedCellBorderStyle.Single .Right = DataGridViewAdvancedCellBorderStyle.SingleEnd With DisplayName.CellTemplate.AdjustCellBorderStyle(newStyle, newStyle, True, True, True, True)
Is there a simple way to re-ordering the columns of a DataGridView that are bound to a DataSet at runtime?
I can do it simply via the DataGridView "Edit Columns" dialog at design time but have to remember to do this every time make changes to the form (remove or add the DataGridView to the form).
I'm trying to resize various datagridview objects at run time, using the following subroutine
Sub GridHeight7(ByVal grd As DataGridView, ByVal highest As Integer) Dim jr%, w& With grd
[code]....
It appears that that only the top property is passed to the subroutine, that is, rowcount and the others appear to have a value of zero. Using ByRef makes no difference.
I have an tabcontrol which has dynamically added the tabpages now i want to add datagridview controls in each tab pages how i can do this.I am written the code like
For i = TabControl1.TabPages.Count - 1 To 0 Step -1 Dim dtg As New DataGridView TabControl1.TabPages(i).Controls.Add(dtg)

I'm creating an application that allows the user to create their own queries based on criteria in various list boxes and my idea was to produce the results of the SQL in a "new" DGV, which in turn will be created in a "new" TabPage in a separate form . Each time the user runs a query a new DGV and TabPage is created. I've named each "new" DGV based on a user textbox so each "new" DGV will be named differently. The problem is how do I reference each new DGV? At the moment I get-"the value of type 'Syst.cannot be converted to string"It allows me to name the DGV with a string, but not reference it!
Any ideas how I reference a DGV when its created in runtime.
I've got a window with multiple datagridviews. Each with data from a separate dataTable. All of which are part of the same DataSet. There are a couple of places where one DataTable has a field joined with the lookup dataTable from the dataset. For example a lookup table for LugSizes has a field called LugSize that is also it's primary key. Another table called Device Terminations has a field called LugSize to which the user can only select those values from the LugSize lookup table. I thought it would be as simple as using the Items.Add method for the combobox column whenever a new lookup table row was added to its own datagridview. Unfortunately, when I try to initially clear the items list, the data error event is triggered for every row.
Here's a sample of my code if it helps:
HTML
Private Sub FillLugSizeComboBox() Try If colDTLugSize.Items.Count > 0 Then colDTLugSize.Items.Clear()
