I am updating some apps because the server will be replaced very shortly. The apps were created in VS 2005 and upgraded to vs2008.For some reason. my update command does not seem to work when I changed over to the new server. All settings that I have are pointing to the new server. The table Adapter has been updated to reflect the change too.I'm able to add a record to the table - I'm using this in my code:
I have ALWAYS used the SQLDataSource to update my records in my SQL Server 2005 database, so i am not really sure how this would be done in normal code. I am using VB.NET but if you are a C# developer and want to show me some code that is more than welcome as well.
I am using ASP.NET 3.5.My user will see a page with 5 Text boxes with their contact details in. Those details I will get from a SQL Server DB and when they go and change the text in the text box and click submit, it must then save the changes.
This is very easy with the SQLDataSource but how can i code this myself?
nd got stuck with slight problem. i just wonder how can i update a certain column in the sql server database when application forms gets started. This code below updates all the records when forms loads but i need to make it specific one. in this case, i would like to have update button to update/modify the existing one.
vb.net Private Sub Button5_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button5.Click
I believe my problem is fairly simple, and not uncommon among programmers switching from VBA (Access) to the big leagues (SQL Server / VB.NET). I'm using a 30-day trial version of Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005.
Now, I've created a form with a datagridview control that pulls information from my database on the SQL Server, and I use this code to put the changes back to the database. This code works perfectly:
Private Sub frmTrendsPlanningList_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing Dim command_builder As New SqlCommandBuilder command_builder = New SqlCommandBuilder(daTrends)
I have a working game server browser project in VB.NET 2008 and I'm trying to fix the CS 1.6 and CS-Source query protocols. Where can I go to learn how to query a game server? The code worked in 2004 and now I want to update it [Code]
I'm trying to update a data user using vb.net2008 and sql server management studio express for my backend. the error says "must declare the scalar variable "@username"
Here's the code .
Private Sub btnupdate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)Handles btnupdate.Click Dim connstring = New SqlClient.SqlConnection("Data Source=MISD-
Using Office automation in Word 2007, I view the Document Information Panel, showing me properties of a document that resides in a SharePoint location. Using VS 2008, I interrogate the following in the Immediate Window:
[code]...
but I don't see a corresponding change to the screen. I do however see that, on Advanced Properties/Custom Tab that a Custom Property by the name of "Process Name" has been recorded with the value "New Value"There seems to be some kind of one way mapping going on between "server" and "custom" properties, but the really strange part is:I can update SOME server properties, others I cannot.I don't know a darn thing about SharePoint, other than as a dumb user. And getting any help from a SharePoint admin in my company is probably a very long shot...I checked all of Word's Built-in Properties and Custom Properties, I decided that none of them can be used to update the "Process Name" "server" property. How can I update this stubborn property? Most of the server properties I can update, a few I cannot.I see some articles referring to using what looks like "SharePoint objects." Do I need to download an SDK just to populate these properties? So far I've used Office automation, because I am running locally on the user's PC and pre-filling documents using the Word object model. All that is left is to finish populating the last couple of server properties after I copied the doc to a Sharepoint folder.
I have a webpage with a form that is used to edit some object. This object contains a Collection of other objects defined like this: Public Overridable Property Employees As List(Of Employee)
On a form I can delete an employee, add a new one or modify existing one. When I click save new values are sent to the server. On a server I check if the user exists. If exists then I modify its values, if it does not exist then I add it. All employees that exist on the server and were not sent are marked as deleted (State changed to EntityState.Deleted). I try to use the following code (dbCollection = database entities, newCollection = collection sent from the form):
[Code]...
This code does not work, because changing to EntityState.Deleted removes the object from collection, and for each loop breaks, since the collection is modified...I know that I can overcome this problem by using a for loop or adding objects to delete to some other list first, but I hope maybe there is a pattern that would make my code nicer.
how to update the data of an SQL server 2008 express using vb.net 2008? My raw data actually from excel file only and i want to transfer all the data and merge it in my newly installed SQL server 2008.Normally im updating it daily that is why i want to create code.
I use a dbDataAdapter to populate a DataTable from an unlinked oracle database.I have a dbDataAdapter that I want to insert rows into an SQL Server table using SQLCommandBuilder.I have been trying all day to update the DataTable that references the SQL Server table with the data from the Oracle DataTable so that I can insert the rows.
I am using stored procedures in my application using vb.net, while executing stored procedures on mysql database server thru application, the response time from the server is more. Is there any settings that i need to set on mysql db server or any changes in connection string or in code.
I have an application I have developed which works great on individual PC's. However I've had some interest from a few customers that asked if I have a network version for site licencing. If my app did not save any data or write any reg entries, this might have been ok. But it does to the local computer. I also built in my own copy protection and trial function that stores data in the registry on the local computer. What would I need to do to enable my application to run on a server/network share, so that the only a serial number needed is for the server?
I have a server which has around 300+ users on it. Though the problem is that its coded in VB6, and if somebody has a bad ping, everybody has a bad ping. I need a tunneling server which will tunnel the incoming and outgoing connections and make there ping appear to be 0 in the server. Client to Server, Server to Client.
i'm tying to send email in my application directly by the smtp server but the server doesn't allow me to do that. The application its used by everyone in the company, so i set the smtp client UseDefaultCredentials to True, but the server replies with this when i try to send an email:[code].....If i set the credentials by hand, the server sends the email. So my problem is how to make this work to everyone? I don't want to have one public/friend var all time in the application with the credentials of the current user?
i have 2 application clinet/server the server broadcast media files to client i used tcp/ip protocol the server code is work good but i have a problem in client code i need ineed someone to correct the code .iwll show where the error is in the code note: i call the class in the main form dim a as recive in the starter of the main form class to be gloable .
I have created my site using ASP.NET Personal Starter Kits 3.5. I use Visual Studio 2008 only . .with its built-in SQL Server (2005 Express) ... my database in App_Data is ASPNETDB.MDF ...I have created some of my tables also ....in ASPNETDB ..In my local PC the site was running fine ...But when I publish my site on production server it doesn't work and shows the following error
I have a client/server application set up that the client sends a word file to the server and then the server converts that word file to a .TIF and sends the image back. The stuff I have now works.Say if I sent the size of the file and the actual file byte() to the server back to back, would the NetworkStream contain both back to back? This what I though would happen. So I implemented a kind of 'turn' based interaction during the duration of the conversion process.
I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
This emailing code wont seem to work in my program. I get an exception "The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was 5.5.1 authentication required."
Imports System.Net.Mail Public Class emailStudent Private Sub sendEmailButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles sendEmailButton.Click SendMail()
An application loaded on a citrix server executes with no problem. When we try to run the same program files on a virtual server, we get silent errors and we do not even see the application window appear. The program runs for a moment in task manager, but then closes down. BTW other .net apps run on the virtual server. Here is the error we see in the event viewer application logs[code]...
How can I write a connection string? I has four different computer that can be connect via ethernet. How can I maintain a inserting data if to computer insert on same table at a single time..??
I wrote a VB code to call a sp in sql server 2005, which returns a recordset as follows:Dim objRecordset As ADODB.Recordset Set objComm = New ADODB.Command
Set objRecordset = objComm.Execute If Not objRecordset.BOF And Not objRecordset.EOF Then Set objRecordset = objRecordset.NextRecordset I need to continue to get next recordset since there are many select statements inside the sp which I need to get the data. The code works fine when I create the DSN using SQL Server but it does not work when using the connection string or SQL Server Native Client DSN. It either breaks at Set objRecordset = objComm.Execute ( connection string )or at If Not objRecordset.BOF And Not objRecordset.EOF Then(SQL native client )
I have worked on this for a couple of days now and could not figure it out.Is this a bug in SQL Native Client or something related to some configuration on the database side? IS there a way I can change the connection property to get this working using SQL native client or connection string?
I made a simple TCP server (I've found the example on the web) in VB to receive data from about 40 TCP clients. The clients are not synchronized but sends data about every 18 minutes; the problem is sometimes several clients sends data at the same moment, so I can't receive data.I also made a second program that reads the data (server program writes data on a file, read from the second program) scheduled.
My question is this: I've seen on the web examples about Multithreaded Server Socket Program, so I suppose this could manage my 40 clients (but now the clients are syncronized and send data at the same time in client mode) or is better get data (I have a central client that asks data to all 40 devices in server mode)?
Second question: can I make a single program where I run both TCP client and TCP server at the same time?
