Updating SQL Server Using Textboxes And SQLCommandBuilder

I believe my problem is fairly simple, and not uncommon among programmers switching from VBA (Access) to the big leagues (SQL Server / VB.NET). I'm using a 30-day trial version of Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005.
Now, I've created a form with a datagridview control that pulls information from my database on the SQL Server, and I use this code to put the changes back to the database. This code works perfectly:

I'm trying to figure out why my adapter is not updating my SQL database table. I have a form with 3 data grid views on it. If the user changes the display index, width, or visible properties of the columns I want to save their settings. For some reason the adapters update runs without error, but when I check the database table nothing is updated, why? Does it have something to do with the TableMappings?

I have got problem when using the SQLCommandBuilder class. For me it throws an error saying that the select statement does not return any primary columns.... Which is weird becouse i am sure it does since the select statement is "SELECT * FROM MyTable" I am prety sure that selects everything including the primary column which is set to primary , realy i checked and doublechecked.
Secondly i tried to manually set the column(0) as primary by setting it's property bu no such luck of making it work.
I have these two functions in a class that i instanciate an object from in the main program:

This Functtion fills the dataset and returns it to my main program where i do lovely stuff with it. (Just as a side note this is a SCADA system and i always need the entire DB which is never bigger then just a few ( 6 ) entries so i must go for "*" ^^). Good part is, this works like a charm, i love it. Now i need to reset a few status bits etc and i assume with the update command. And that is where my joy starts to get stomped on a bit.... The code:

Now this would have been a great and small sollution to updating datasets with the server but obviously it doesn't work. There is that pesky error about my table having no primary key and I know it's lying it just want to annoy me :P. But seriously I am puzzeld why that error wont go away and i have exhausted all the tutorials i can find on this.

I have 2 tables in MySQL database. These table were joined through a query and handled by a dataset. Im displaying these data through setting the dataset as the datasource of my datagridview. But when it comes to Update, Insert and Delete statements, I got an error because the sqlcommandbuilder does not generate statements in multiple tables.I want is, when I press the update button..all the changes made in the datagridview will be updated in the database. Can i make it without creating a datasource in design mode or through smart tag? If I have to manually create an UpdateCommand for adapters..Can I have a code snippet for that?

I am updating some apps because the server will be replaced very shortly.The apps were created in VS 2005 and upgraded to vs2008.For some reason. my update command does not seem to work when I changed over to the new server.All settings that I have are pointing to the new server. I have ALWAYS used the SQLDataSource to update my records in my SQL Server 2005 database, so i am not really sure how this would be done in normal code. I am using VB.NET but if you are a C# developer and want to show me some code that is more than welcome as well.
I am using ASP.NET 3.5.My user will see a page with 5 Text boxes with their contact details in. Those details I will get from a SQL Server DB and when they go and change the text in the text box and click submit, it must then save the changes.
This is very easy with the SQLDataSource but how can i code this myself?

I want to take the values from textboxes on a windows form and then update the values in the sql server database...I want to update only those fields for which a value has been entered by the user and leave the fields for which the textboxes are left empty by the user.....How can I generate the query dynamically for such a situation???

Using Office automation in Word 2007, I view the Document Information Panel, showing me properties of a document that resides in a SharePoint location. Using VS 2008, I interrogate the following in the Immediate Window:

On my form, i've got some textboxes and some richtextboxes. I'm using the following code, to search through the text properties of each of the two types of control. see below:-

I have a webpage with a form that is used to edit some object. This object contains a Collection of other objects defined like this: Public Overridable Property Employees As List(Of Employee)
On a form I can delete an employee, add a new one or modify existing one. When I click save new values are sent to the server. On a server I check if the user exists. If exists then I modify its values, if it does not exist then I add it. All employees that exist on the server and were not sent are marked as deleted (State changed to EntityState.Deleted). I try to use the following code (dbCollection = database entities, newCollection = collection sent from the form):

This code does not work, because changing to EntityState.Deleted removes the object from collection, and for each loop breaks, since the collection is modified...I know that I can overcome this problem by using a for loop or adding objects to delete to some other list first, but I hope maybe there is a pattern that would make my code nicer.

I have an application I have developed which works great on individual PC's. However I've had some interest from a few customers that asked if I have a network version for site licencing.If my app did not save any data or write any reg entries, this might have been ok. But it does to the local computer. I have a server which has around 300+ users on it. Though the problem is that its coded in VB6, and if somebody has a bad ping, everybody has a bad ping. i'm tying to send email in my application directly by the smtp server but the server doesn't allow me to do that.The application its used by everyone in the company, so i set the smtp client UseDefaultCredentials to True, but the server replies with this when i try to send an email:[code].....If i set the credentials by hand, the server sends the email. So my problem is how to make this work to everyone? I don't want to have one public/friend var all time in the application with the credentials of the current user?
