I wanna replace message boxes in my program with messages displayed directly on the form like "saved","deleted","loading",etc.
To clearly explain my idea let me use the example of gmail's yellow strip on the top prompting "loading"
I can't get the host/server to display messages from the client.It receives the messages but when I try and get it to put it into a listbox it says it's added it but is doesn't add anything.

I like to user custom errors in my site. The Idea is to trap errors and display friendly meaningful messages to users. The real error details (line number, Page ...) will sent to me by e-mail. I am programming in VB.NET. Until now every code that i found about this say's that i must use the global.asax for it. I do not like to use global.asax, I just like to make an error page that will sent me a -email with all the error details. Until now, I go to the web.config file and insert this line:

When here is an error in some page its redirect me to test.aspx but not showing any error.
its 3rd or 4th time that i am having this problem. the problem is that suppose i added a new control, any one textbox, button, combobox, checkbox etc etc. and when i run my project so it does not show that new control on form. or sometimes i add a control and it display on my form at run time but when i delete the control so it does appear still on form at run time. what is wrong with this?
View 5 RepliesI have a tool window that I want to stay above the main application form, but not stay on top of all windows forms. Similar to the floating properties window for visual studio - it always stays on top of the main VS window, but if I select another program, like internet explorer, the floating properties window will be behind internet explorer.
What I have is an application that has several forms that may be displayed at the same time. I have a Messages form that displays messages generated by the code in the form, that gives the status of the application. Obviously, the user would not normally be working on this form, but they may want it to be visible to see the status messages from the program (File saved confirmations, etc). So, my two options right now are I can set the form to be on top of all other windows forms or, when the user clicks on the main application form, the messages form would be hidden by the main form.

I have an app that I'm using Form2 to display informaitonal messages without having the user to press the OK button. I DIM form2 as a new form as a global and then add a lable to it on the fly and then control it's appearance with a timer. This all works great providing the main form is being displayed however I can't make Form2 show up if the main form is minimized or hidden. I can get around this a bit by keeping the main form maximized but change it's Opacity to zero but once I do that I have no idea how to return the Opacity back to normal when I do want to see the form. Anyone have any ideas on how to make Form2 display if the main from is minimzed or how to control the Opacity of the main form so I can return things to normal? I was thinking that there might be something I could do with hovering over or clicking on the icon in the taskbar but I don't know what that event might be.

I have no idea of how to go about actually getting and then displaying the code contained in a stored procedure. Does anyone know of a way? I know how to call and execute a stored procedure but is about it. I am developing using VB.NET 2010 with Oracle 10G as my back end.

View 10 RepliesI am attempting to write a VB.net application which will allow users to create their own widget plugins in html/jscript and i would like to set my own security options in the applications settings allowing users to choose what can run or not eg scripts, flash, activex.I would like to allow activex controls to be used without the windows security dialog in the WebBrowser Control (An ActiveX control is trying to interact with the page...) or what ever it says.
I started customizing the WB Control to suite my needs implementing various interfaces such as IOleClientSite, IDocHostShowUI, IDocHostUIHandler, etc...I can't seem to find anything that will allow me to control the security permissions of the WB Control. I tried to implement IHttpSecurity and IInternetSecurityManager but I'm either barking up the wrong tree or not doing it right.

Part of my project requires me to capture data, for example, email address, from certain rows/columns of a datagridview(form2.vb) and displays them in a textbox on another windows form(form1.vb) with a click of a button(Add Contact button). The problem is the datagridview on my form must be able to display databases by making a connection to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 but so far, i have not been able to do that. I have seen many codes with regards to my problem but i do not know how to implement it.

I have a user control that I have added a listbox to. I have added this control to a form and would like to use its click event.

When I click on the control on the form it does nothing none of the code for this event gets triggered. If I click on the listbox inside the user control that .click event inside the control does trigger. How can I make the click event for the user control trigger when the control is clicked?
I created a custom control and add it to a form programatically.
The user can add and move them all over the form.
The problem is when I want to clear the form of my user control I don't know how.
I created an array of my control called ctlCorkNotes
Say I create ctlCorkNotes(1) and now I want to delete it.
How do I do this so it is gone and would have to recreate it to show up again?
In my case, I'd like to output to a ListView or TextBox or for that matter, any control which can accept text. For this purpose, I'd like to have a general purpose Trace/Debug listener which I can hook to in order to process the messages (convert to a ListViewItem or something) before outputting it. Is there any way I can achieve this or do I have to build my own Trace Listener? If it's worth noting, I run VS2010 ultimate & VS2008 professional. Solution should be in preferably be in VB.NET but C# is okay.
