Match A Certain DateTime Value With Current System DateTime

May 7, 2010

I'm trying to match a certain DateTime value with the current system DateTime. I have a timer and a label on a form. Timer interval is set to 1000. When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':

Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
Dim dtmNow As DateTime

[Code]....

Why is it so? The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

create a message box that stores my user name, message, and post datetime into the database as messages are sent. Soon came to realise, what if the user changed his name? So I decided to use the user id (icn) to identify the message poster instead. However, my chunk of codes keep giving me the same error. Says that there are no rows in the dataset.

Trap Errors And Display Friendly Messages To Users

Oct 20, 2010

I like to user custom errors in my site. The Idea is to trap errors and display friendly meaningful messages to users. The real error details (line number, Page ...) will sent to me by e-mail. I am programming in VB.NET. Until now every code that i found about this say's that i must use the global.asax for it. I do not like to use global.asax, I just like to make an error page that will sent me a -email with all the error details. Until now, I go to the web.config file and insert this line:

<customErrors defaultRedirect="test.aspx" mode="On"></customErrors>
test.aspx looks like this:
Sub Page_Error(sender as Object, e as EventArgs)
Dim ctxOBJ As HttpContext
Dim exceptionOBJ As Exception
Dim errorInfoTXT As String
[Code] ....
When here is an error in some page its redirect me to test.aspx but not showing any error.

VS 2008 - Using Form2 To Display Informaitonal Messages Without Having The User To Press The OK Button?

Jan 2, 2010

I have an app that I'm using Form2 to display informaitonal messages without having the user to press the OK button. I DIM form2 as a new form as a global and then add a lable to it on the fly and then control it's appearance with a timer. This all works great providing the main form is being displayed however I can't make Form2 show up if the main form is minimized or hidden. I can get around this a bit by keeping the main form maximized but change it's Opacity to zero but once I do that I have no idea how to return the Opacity back to normal when I do want to see the form. Anyone have any ideas on how to make Form2 display if the main from is minimzed or how to control the Opacity of the main form so I can return things to normal? I was thinking that there might be something I could do with hovering over or clicking on the icon in the taskbar but I don't know what that event might be.

Microsoft.VB.Now Vs System.DateTime.Now

TextBox To Display Datetime?

Mar 28, 2009

I am trying to display the day pulled from a datetimepicker menu. I have no problem displaying the day in the textbox using a button and this [code]...

The problem I am having is I don't want to have to press a button. I just want the day to always be displayed. For example, If the default value is now() from the datetimepicker, I want the textbox to display only the day portion (Sat) but not have to press any button to activate it. When the user changes the datetimepicker to tomorrow or whenever, as soon as the new date has been selected, I would like the textbox to display the new day value for the date selected.

I am using VB.Net 2005, and I am new to programming so the easier the better.. I'm currently in school learning VB and want to try to make a program that my friends and I can utilize at work.

Big Endian Values Into And Outfrom System.DateTime

Jul 26, 2011

I'm working on a project that's going to be deployed via .NET on Windows and via Mono on Linux; the same data needs to be exchangeable between the platforms, including where platform A is Little-Endian and platform B is Big-Endian.Where text is concerned, I know ASCII/Unicode is natively Big-Endian, so there's no problem with that.Where numbers are concerned, I know that byte arrays have to be reversed on Big-Endian platforms to store the data in Little-Endian format. But what exactly is the 64 bit value output from System. Date Time.ToBinary? Is this a number representing the number of seconds elapsed since Jan 1 1970, is this some kind of serialized attribute that outputs some DotNET-recognizable value, or what?Does this byte array need to be handled differently in Big and Little Endian environments? It never hurts to try. In a worst case scenario, you'll learn from it.
