Today I'm facing the problem of adding code when the program is running.I know i can execute command, (like when i press button1 it does the command in textbox1) but I want the code to be saved.Using the setting or resource tab is not an option, (don't ask why).

cp.ReferencedAssemblies.Add(CompilerPath & "est.exe")
to add a reference to test exe ... (where CompilerPath is the full path name)
Compiler Path is not the Compiler Application Path
I get an error when compiling stating that:

"Could not load file or assembly 'test, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
If I put it in the test.dll in the "compiler apps" path and then call ReferencedAssemblies.Add with the full path it works.
I have some code which addes values into the items and subitems, which works fine.

i have a program that when you click a button it randomly gets a random line from the file and adds it to a textbox. Well when i give ppl the program it needs to have the .txt file in the same dir right.
But how would i add the file to the program itself ?
Or Add the contents of the file to the project ? maybe a class or something idk.

I have a mini form application. What I need is to have a message box asking the user to confirm exist. Yes/No. This should happen if the user click the exit button on the form or the (X) on the title bar.

View 3 RepliesI realize the program as of now has no output, and that's fine. I have an ofdOpenDialog that I didn't include in this post as it seems kind of irrelevant, that part works fine, browse button to a path, outputs the path in a textbox for the users reference. I have the only user-entered text box set to on change: [code]But when I do this, the program just instantly stops responding. Is that a problem with my code or is the text file it's reading too big? ( Roughly 3-4000 lines.) I read somethign about a buffer once, should I set that larger somehow?

View 2 RepliesI have a stopwatch in my program. I start the stopwatch with the start button I created. When I stop it it gives the results of the time in a label that I have named labelTime. I have a Calculate button I have created. I also have a label I have named calcResult. I want to click the Calculate button and divide the stopwatch result (labelTime) by 60. I want the results of this calculation to be displayed in the label calcResult. I keep getting errors saying labelTime is a string value. I believe I will need my calcResult to be a Decimal.

I am using Visual Studio 2008 Setup project. I need to copy one folder and the sub folders into the program files but when I tried to copy or add the folder to "Application Folder" in File System editor, I am able to add only files and not folders.

I'm trying to measure the performance of seven sorting algorithms in a single VB 2008 program. I've tried using a Timer componend, the Stopwatch, and DateTime.Ticks but nothing works. The following simple code produces a result of about 500 (milliseconds), which is correct, but when I change 500 to 1000, I get a ridiculous result like 0 or 8.

The program I am working on uses arrays and a text file. In one section of the program it's suppose to display the most active year for storms between the years 1990-2008. The year that has the most active storms is 2005, but I don't know how to write it in the code so that it displays. Attached is the text file.
So far I have a For Next loop that counts the arrays.

Out of curiosity, is there a way i can make a program stop or pause for a period of time (which i would choose) before continuing the code WITHOUT a timer.I think I've seen this done before, but I'm not positive.Also note that I'm talking about a forms application (not a console app if that would be any different.)

So you choose 2 numbers to multiply, If a box is ticked then you add 10 to the label. I've got everything else I just can't work out the structure/code for this little bit.

I am trying to create and remove a series of controls programatically. The user will have a numeric updown to pick a number. The program will then create a bunch of duplicate controls based on whatever number they pick on the fly.

The creation part works just fine.As the number is toggled upward a new label is created.However whenever I remove labels it acts very strangely.The first time I bring it down it works just fine. Then the next 3 do nothing but the 4th removes another line.I can also toggle back and forth and it will eventually remove the label. So for example.
Starts with 1 selected - 1 label visible (1)
Change to 2 - 2 labels visible (1-2)
Change to 3 - 3 labels visible (1-3)[code]....
If I toggle back and forth between 2 and 3 eventually label 4 will go away.I want only 1- my numeric up down value to be displayed and have everything else after that removed.
I am creating an application install program, but one of the main things i cannot get working is the combobox, this is a drop down list of all my applications that i have put in there. I was wondering if there was a way you could tell the combobox to look at a directory or share and list the names of files within it? So, for example i could place 5 programs inside a share or directory then when i run the program and the click the drop down combo the 5 programs are listed and then i can click and install this program. Also then if i add/remove any programs it also removes it from the combo list.
