VS 2008 Save And Print The Long Drawing?
Nov 2, 2010
I have a scrollable drawing (in the form paint event) with a height / width ratio up to 1: 10 . I can see the entire drawing by scrolling with the left and right arrow keys. Problem is when I need to save or print the drawing.
1. - If I try to print or save with the: PrintForm1 or with some code for a screen capture I get only part of the drawing, which is seen on screen.Is there any possibility that I save the whole drawing (the entire form, even the part that can not be seen) as a bmp or png ... (something like extended window in "Snagit" program)?
2. - If I want to print the whole drawing, I know that I have to make in a several pages. Does anyone have a similar example of this?

Basically on my form I have a listbox containing data. Under the listbox I want to place a button named "btn_PrintData" or something to that effect. The user will click this, the print dialog box would come up and bingo they could print the contents of the listbox.

In Visual Studio 2008 I am using :Private Declare Function BlockInput Lib "user32" (ByVal fBlock As Long) As Long To stop input from occuring during a search-replace operation.
BlockInput(True) ' do not allow input during search and destroy
Dim cursorIcon As Cursor
cursorIcon = Cursor
Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor
Then setting it to false at the end of the operation. It did not work, so I thought maybe it was because I was calling it from a child window, so I created a function in the mainwindow, and ran it like this:
FrmMain.BlockFrmMainInput()With these functions is the Main window:
[Code]...
It did not solve the problem. I thought maybe it was because I was running under the debugger, so I tried compiling and running it debugger-free, but that did not do any better. I am still getting input when I double-click the mouse on either form.

I am a Real Estate appraiser and have some limited experience with vb and .net. I have a task which I perform which requires me to go to the conuty appraisers web site and print a copy (to image bmp or jpg or directly to the default printer) of the current public record info for anywhere from a few pages to 1,000 plus records at a time.
I don't really get paid to do this part of the job so they don't care whether it takes me a few minutes or several hours to do this. I thought there must be a way to automate this process, so last week I started searching and test code snippets.What I have to date opens an instance of IE; navigates to the reguested page; finds the form elemet for AcctNo; fills it in and submits the form. The page that comes back is formatted for screen presentation and is not suitable to be sent to the printer. There is however a link which when clicked returns a page formatted for pinting. Downside is it also brings up the print dialog which then has to be handled. I was able through several methods to click either the print button or the cancel button which leaves me with a document that is either sent to printer or sitting on screen.
The questions are: Is there a way to do this without displaying the Print Dialog? Maybe a HTTPRequest or HTTPWebREquest as I have no need to see the screens just need the final page.The resultant page is typically longer then letter by a few lines and wants to print on two pages. It would be nice to resize the page to fit and typically it will be the same resizing. If I stick with the print dialog either clicking print or cancel how can I intercept the document and decide by options set in the program wheter to send the file to the printer or save to image?

I am new to VB and having an issue with Print Screen. I'm trying to take a screen shot, show it in a picBox and then save the image to a file. Eventually, I want to add a timer and have the webcam open on screen so that I can take a set of pictures and save them to the hard drive (a very simple "security" cam).What's happening is when I click on my "Start" button the screen shot always seems capture the last screen event (ie: if I move the dialog from left to right and click "Start" the dialog is still showing on left side of screen shot). Not sure what's going on with this. I tried variations to update (picBox.Refresh(), .Update(), and .Show()) without any change. It's as if two clicks are required to make a capture.Also, I'm trying to save the image that's been captured and can't seem to get that working.
Code:
Option Explicit On
Option Strict On
Public Class Form1
[code]....

I'm looking for a .Net PDF Viewer tool that will accept the barcode font as well as allow the user to save, email, and print the PDF. I tried the tool by SkySof, but it doesn't handle barcodes. We're having trouble using the COM PDF control because of other stuff that needs to be installed on our servers. Our customer would prefer that the tool be under $1000. We're using Visual Studio 2008 and this is a windows application being served up by Citrix.

I'm trying to time how long an operation takes in Visual Basic (VS 2008) but its not working. the code I have is as follows:
[code]...
this is in an OnClick event, so what happens is that the user can click a menu item, and it goes and sends any changes it has to a database, and pulls down any new changes to a local data cache. This operation takes time, depending on how many changes are on the server and how many are cached locally. I've thought about making this a background task, so it doesn't draw away from the main app while it's running, but before doing that, I'd like to get an idea how long the operation takes. Since I can't exactly do a progress bar, I figured using the stopwatch would tell me how many ticks/milliseconds would occur between click, and when the "total synced" message comes up, but every time i run it and do an update the message always shows 0 ticks/ms. I don't think it's accounting for the delay, just from start to finish. Is there any way to make it so it detects a message popping up and times off that?
