I have 3 checkboxes on a groupBox, when the user presses "OK" i was first wanting to validate that at least 1 checkbox was ticked before commencing, if they haven't selected any i was going to throw an error up, i'm stuck on how to do this i'm sure a for each, but i can't seem to figure out the syntax.

I am trying to see if producttextbox.text (getting ready to be entered) is duplicated in the DB. I have searched and search and typed some code but nothing is working. Code shown is so far the closest.I do get the NO MATCH message box now although it is a duplicate record. At least I know I am getting somewhere...

Is there a way to prevent the form closing event from executing if validation fails on a control? If validation on a control fails this stops the form from closing, but the closing event still executes. Scenario is user has focus in a text box, tries to close the form. Validation fails, but closing event is fired. I'm not sure how I can abort that event.

I thought I could use this, to loop through all checkboxes in a frame:

cb.enabled = False

But it walks through once, then it comes with error:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.Label' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.CheckBox'.
There are indeed labels within 'frameSearch', but I thought that the "For Each cb as Checkbox" would loop only through all checkboxes..? Following does work, but it seems a bit of waste of CPU time, since it will loop through all controls!

I have to set a drop-down list with multi-select checkboxes. It seems to be a combination of combobox and list capacities (at least as I know them in VB6), so what's the best controller for these purposes in VS2008?

The project is a lawn care application with 2 forms in which the user can select different services they want for their lawn. On Form1 I have 3 checkboxes the user can select: mowCheckBox , fertilizeCheckBox , and mulchCheckbox each with a different price. And nextButton to navigate user to Form2
On Form2 I have a listbox which shows the services the user selected, a totalLabel which will show the total dollar amount of the services, and a calcButton to calculate the total dollar amount.
The problem that I am having is being able to get the total dollar amount. If the user selects the mowCheckBox ($25) and the fertilizeCheckBox ($20) in Form1 I need the totalLabel in Form2 to show the total but cant figure out how to??

View 5 RepliesI am creating a program in Visual Basic 2008 and I would like it so when I check a check box, the word that corresponds with the check box (in the code) will show up in the text box. So if i had one check box that said, Hello. Whenever that check box was clicked the word, Hello, would show up in the Text box. And then if I checked another check box, Bye, the word Bye would show up right below Hello. So it would look something like this.
Hello
Bye
But whenever I unchecked the check for hello, the word hello would go away and Bye would move to the top of the text box.Here is the code that I have so far. I can make the words appear in the text box but not at the same time in the list.

I have a form that has many checkboxes located on a tab control with 3 tabs each tab has checkboxes on it.I have a button that when pressed selects all the checkboxes. That does work and it does execute all that were selected. However there are no checkmarks appearing at all. This worked before! It seems like the more checkboxes I added to the form the less they properly showed f they were checked or unchecked. Now none of them show unless I close the form and reopen it then all of the boxes are checked like they should be when the select all button is pressed.

View 7 RepliesI have a form with Check Boxes on it and a second form that holds functions and a Backgroundworker.When a button is pressed on the first form, the second form loads and then runs the functions that relate to the appropriate Check Boxes.Doing it this way causes the second form to become inaccessible. I decided to run my code in the Backgroundworker's DoWork event and then call the RunWorkerAsync method in my form's Activated event. Before using the Backgroundworker, everything worked fine and now it doesn't.I assume the issue is with the Backgroundworker not being able to access controls on another thread.In debug mode,it automatically throws an exception, but doesn't error out when using the Release version, making me assume it's a legal call. But, if it's a legal call, then why can't I access the controls?

I have a dgv with a column type = DataGridViewAutoFilterCheckBoxColumn. I want to know if there's a way to I can get that entire column to become disabled (or Enabled = False) so it won't let the user click on the checkboxes. I tried looking in the "Bound Column Properties" but there isn't an option to disable the entire column.
