Am writing a graphics program which will develop components and save them to files for later retrieval.Cant Figure out how to save the color component of the graphics to the file.The File seems to accept only string items and I have not been able to figure out how to convert the color string back to a color object.

The graphics are fine for my purposes, however they erase when they move out of sight.I was looking at the System.Drawing.Graphics properties, and came across a save funtion, however that did not prevent the erasing.How do I prevent this from happening?

i am trying to open an external executable file during runtime using a process component and the process.start() method. I've been testing out my code with various executable files on my C: drive....some work and some do not work. I've been able to successfully open Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel, and Notepad; however, when I try opening various other executables the following exception gets thrown:
A first chance exception of type 'System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception' occurred in System.dll
I cannot figure out why some programs open just fine while others cause the above exception to be thrown.
Im currently developing a custom logging component, that we will deploy with all our applications, windows services, webapps, windows apps etc. I have a few questions of various nature. The component is a single signed dll file:
1) Which is the "safest" way to get the current directory? For example, in the config file, in the config section I have a property "logpath". The application will read this and write a log file depending in what they write:
c:myapplog (it will write a log here, create whatever folders it need) /Log (directly under the installed app directory, like c:program filesmyappLog) Log (same as above) I need something that work with both windows and web apps, for webapps it will log under the virtual directory of the aspnet app.
2) For exception handling, if nothing special is happening, like in the DAL, I get a sql server exception, is there any point in using

I would like someone to show me how you would save the contents of "Listbox1" to a .txt file using the "Save As" Option. View 3 RepliesMy question is simple (the answer may not be...), What I am looking for is a way to save a file as an encrypted file (so know one can open it except in visual basic or a way to save it with a unique ending that only visual basic will recognize. I will also need to know of a way to open or load the file to.
This is going to be used in a game I am working on (and yes...I know visual basic isn't really meant for games, but it is coming together pretty well). I was originally going to have it save as a text file, but then everyone could open, read it and even change there stats. That is what this file will contain, the stats for their character, and when they load it, it will place the values into the correct spot.
I am a partial beginner or intermediate coder, I can understand code, I just don't know all there is, like saving and loading, and this is probably a little harder.

I am currently creating an app and i want to be able to get the colour of a pixel, but in a picturebox.Example: I click anywhere in the picturebox and it will give me the color of the pixel I clicked.

There is a reset button to put the colors to how they were without any special coloring, but I can't get them to go back to how they originally looked.They go to gray in the middle, instead of the nice shaded blue/gray style. I have tried a few different things:
Button_Play.BackColor = Button.DefaultBackColor
Button_Play.BackColor = SystemColors.Control
Button_Play.BackColor = Color.Empty

Any recommendations? I like the fact that 255,255,255 is white. Is there a way to create color by combining three colors that were made from argb? I may just have to make my 20 different colors set and then refer to them.

But from another machine running Windows Vista, the graphics are messed up. It seems that the transparencies inherit the default black background so there's this gray'ish/black haze around the text...

View 10 RepliesIve been working on creating a side scroller game, and the back color of my pictureboxes needs to go. when transparent, it shows through the program and onto whatever is active in your Windows os(usually Visual studios).
I am trying to rip pixel color off of the background image picturebox( the level), and replace parts of the character picture box that show transparency with the level art. there may be poor logic in my code?

not the best idea, but all i get is one color for all the level pixels placed in the new image, which is odd. any poor logic you see in this code that could allow the newImage.setPixel not to be 1 color? when i breakpoint, it is recieving different colors from the backimage.getpixel, but only putting one shade on for setpixel somehow. im not going for an accurate color read from the background yet, just wondering why im getting 1 pixel color for the whole picturebox background when being changed.
I'm trying to figure out some simple code to detect when a pixel changes color anywhere on the screen. Maybe with just a msgbox popup when it changes.
View 2 RepliesIts a League Organizer, basicly ive started it off with 16 teams and end up with 1(winner) 16 box's on the far left, then 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. the 16 box's have "Team 1" "Team 2" etc... ive put a new/clear/open/save button in that order.
BUT this is my problem..when i save(Save Button) the text file saves all the text wrong it ends up like this...Team 1Team 2Team 3Team 4 Etc...
But i want it to save like this

Etc...

Alright inside of a combo box I have a list of colors and I want to change the background color of the combo box to the selected color...basically this... but im not sure what the problem is here anyone have some advice or is this not possible?

Basically i want dynamic code that will change the color depending on the items in the box.
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?
