View 2 RepliesIn a form I have an ImageList named MainLogoImageList containing a 100x100 pixel 32-bit colordepth image. That is my app logo.
I am too lazy to set up an icon editor and edit an icon of that logo, or convert the image to an .ICO file. (Ergh, well, I am not allowed to install custom utilities.)
To set my forms' icon, I use
Icon = IconFromImage(MainLogoImageList.Images(0))
in the OnLoad event handler to set the window icon.
In my about box, i have a PictureBox with no image. In its OnLoad event, I use
LogoPictureBox.Image = MyMainForm.MainLogoImageList.Images(0)
Icon = IconFromImage(MyMainForm.MainLogoImageList.Images(0))
to set the About box's icon and content.
So far, so good, the icon looks pretty good for a being created from a 100x100 pixel bitmap.
Is there an easy "no utility required" :-) way to get the icon that is returned my IconFromImage saved into an .ICO file so that it will keep the color depth when loaded as the app icon? I want to use exactly the icon that IconFromImage creates.
Saving it using
Dim S As New FileStream("MyAppIcon.ico", FileMode.Append, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.Write)
Icon.Save(S)
S.Close()
in the main form's OnLoad event handler and loading that .ICO file as the app icon in VS's project properties dialog yields and icon that is obviously converted to 16 colors, and looks awful.
I'm having an issue with some code I'm trying to write that takes a screenshot of the current screen and saves it to a bitmap file on my local PC.

Pretty self-explanatory question. I'm trying to see if I can do sprite animation in Visual Basic and, while I can use a Graphics object to translate a bitmap down a few pixels, I have absolutely no idea how to erase the bitmap drawn in its former position. Is there any way to erase the old image before the new image is drawn onto the form?
View 14 RepliesI am trying to use DrawString to write text as an image and then rotate it 90 degrees. It works fine with both a bitmap or directly on a PictureBox, but the big difference is in the quality. The PictureBox text drawn has great quality and looks nice. When I draw it on an image it looks horrible and blocky. I've made a few changes to try and get it to look nicer, but it doesn't look nearly as nice as it should.
Sample code:Use a Windows Forms project and place 2 picture boxes on it and a button and run it with the following code to see what I mean:Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

What i'm trying to do is fill a non rectangular region (actual build up out of 6 points) and draw a bitmap in such a way that it stretches with the region. Now for drawing a normal bitmap or even a trapezoid bitmap there are examples on the net. but drawing anything more then that with GDI+..

View 2 RepliesOk basically I want to select a point on a bitmap and then fill all of the color that is the same as the color at that point touching that color with a different color. If that sounds confusing, just think of the paint bucket tool in mspaint or photoshop. Currently I do this by starting with the point selected and then check all the points around it in an ever expanding box until at last no new contiguous points of the color to replace are found.The bad news: This is slow as heck =(I remember my windows 98 computer could handle this just fine with no noticeable delay. So I'm either missing something algorithmically (is there a better approach) or VB.net is just too slow to accomplish this without some sort of different approach/optimization.

As you can see, right now I just select the middle point as where I want to start filling from, and I fill with the color aquamarine. later I want to make this more flexible, but right now I just need this to be faster.
My general algorithm works like this:Start with a 3x3 pixel box with the first pixel (already changed to your new color, with the old color stored) as your start point.Check if each pixel is the color you stored (the one you're replacing) If it is, check if it's next to the new color you're replacing the old color with. If it is, replace it and increase the size of the box.The process ends when no new pixels are replaced.
How do I set the background color for a bitmap that I create from a graphics object?

I am working on watermarking image.
In the below code I load the image to the graphics path using resource image and adding text on it. When I add the image through open file dialog it paints on the form with original size but I need to resize it, add it to the PictureBox, add text to it and give zoom and pan options to it and then I need to save with the original size.
When I resize and when save the image I endi up with a small image.

I need to read a bitmap generated with paint or similar programs and interpert the picture to detect straight lines of black, larger squares in red and smaller squares of yellow, green or red. Which one of the Visual Basic environments are is best suited for this? WPF or Forms or..The lines represent walls and for start we have square objects as obsticles. I would like to create a maze and allow a dot to travel between obstacles leaving a trace of pixels and not hit any of the objects untill it exits.
I like to write the logic for it but I do not know how would I read a 500x500 pixel picture and decode the colors of each pixel. I like to assign a byte for each pixel's color (256color) but only use 4 bits of it to for start.
I am doing this as hobby. So please forgive me because I should only look at your answers during my free times.It will take some time before I could see it and mark your work as Helpful or Answer.
I need to write a code to find identical adjacent pixels in a bitmap image. It should work as the 'magical wand' in Photoshop. My images are always black and white (white background with car parts drawed in black). Given the x,y coordinate for a single black pixel in the whole image, the code should find (and paint with another color, say red) all other black pixels that are linked to that one, and so on, until all linked black points will be painted in red.

All other parts will remain black. Does it make sense?At the end, there are two pictures (before and after) to help understanding what I need to do to the images.I tried a simple 8-pixel adjacent approach for every pixel (starting on initial coordinate) but it turns out into a very stupid and endless looping algorhitm.
