I don't know how to put it in simple terms, but here is how I need it to be..The main window remains open i.e.frmMain. ther other forms are only called by an external program (LanSafe UPS Software) every time something happens (Either batteries gets disconnected or power fails). Each of these forms have to be separate executable files. This application is for sending SMSs using Fusion 100 modem. Is what I need possible?

I have a checkedlistbox in a windows form: A Name textbox is linked to The Name in the Usertable
1.The DisplayMember in the checkedlistbox in the Area (Text) from the AreaID Table. This bit Works.

I need to do it this way because it allows me to add multiple areas to users, and add new area's without having to change the forms.

I've tried putting MyBase.ShowDialog() and .Show() and .9000+ other things The only benefit I've got out of using a seperate thread to load from the databse is i can see the screen right away (as oppose to it being a transparent box until it loads) but i cannot move it around or minimize it?is there any way to make it Movable while it loads?

Nov 3, 2011There is probably a good reason for this but I haven't worked with multiple forms while keeping controls from unloading before.
The process I've always used to open new forms and go back and forth is below. Once I open a new form, get a value from the user and go back to the original form, the checkedlistbox.checkedindices value on the original form is then 0, though it was a positive value when going to the new form (I can tell that the original form is reinitialized when coming back to it so it makes sense that the controls would be empty at that point).
What is the best/proper way to control multiple forms and keep control properties available the entire time?[code]...

1. Pull Staffnames from database
2. Separate each staff member via delimiter
3. checked = true for each item in StaffCHKlist where staffnames = existing StaffChKlist item
i have had a few goes, but cant seem to achieve, this is where i am currently at:

VS 2010 Combobox Selection Alters Checkedlistbox Contents
Feb 23, 2012I am new to the forum and to VB, and not great at coding in general.I am learning, and this site as well as others have helped me get farther than I ever imagined. Second, my project is purely for my benefit, so I can learn.There is no corporate or school related goal here, just trying to learn.So the title is a summary of what I want to do. I have a form with a combo box that has five different choices, and below it, a checked list box. What I want is the collection inside the checked list box to change depending on what I select in the combo box above it.For instance, I have room 1 - 5 in the combo box, and the the checked list box below it, I have the furniture associated with that room.The eventual goal is to have this form populate a database, that allows the checked furniture to be recorded in a record.
I assume I need to use a db, such as access, to list the "furniture" in each room, and have a different table for each room, where the combo box selection will populate the checkedlistbox from the appropriate tables contents.I need a step by step on this, because I am a bit of a brick. Most tutorials are also done in VB 6 or VB 2008, and there have been steps missing in association to VB 2010.
VS 2010 Delete Multiple Items From CheckedListBox And Array
Jun 19, 2010I'm working on a To Do List program of sorts. I currently have a CheckedListBox on the form with an Add Button and a Delete Button. I send the items to an array and then use that array to fill in my CheckedListbox. This all works.
I wrote the following code to delete items:

I use a variable called INTCOUNTER to keep track of my position in the array.
My question:
How can I use the second piece of code that deletes multiple items at once from my CheckedListBox AND delete the corresponding entry in the array?
ie if my checkedlistbox items were Apple Orange and Banana
I want to delete Apple and Banana at the same time and then remove them from Fruits(0) and Fruits(2) at the same time they are deleted from the CheckedListBox.

The first 3 digits in parenthesis are the ISD code, the next three are the area code and the last four are the local number. I need to separate out these three fields of the phone number and display in three separate text boxes labeled appropriately. Now, suppose the user enters the phone number in a text box as a continuous string of 10 digits, where the first three represent the ISD code, the next three represent the area code and the last four represent the local number. Create Separate Object Instances For New Objects In Separate TabPages?
Sep 17, 2010I have a TabControl object on my form with many tabs created in code (TabPages) and my problem is that the same objects that are in the initial TabPage needs to be in the other TabPages created in code, I have this done in code when the user clicks the 'New Tab' menu option, however the same code is used for any new tabs created. The problem created here is that I have an event against one of the objects that appear in the other TabPages, but because the same code is used to create any new tab pages, the event will only work on the newest tab page, if that makes sense? By the way these objects that appear on the other TabPages are properties at the top so events can be handled against them in the respective subroutine.

Possible To Have Separate Combo Boxes That Will Give Separate ID Values But Using Same Table?
Apr 30, 2010I'll get straight to my problem - I'm currently coding in Visual Studio.I have a table (countries) with the columns ID | Name. The table is filled with around 28 records.I also have a form with 4 combo boxes (set up as 1,2,3 & 4) that I want the user to select. These combo boxes will display the names from the table countries. I then want to use the selected names in the combo boxes to Insert into their corresponding ID into another table. For example England would have the ID 1, USA the ID 2 etc.So, is it possible to have separate combo boxes that will give separate ID values but using the same table? At the moment I can't seem to find a solution.Eventually the form will have more than 4 combo boxes so I don't want to use separate bindingsources for each combo box.

Detecting Victory In Separate Form?
Feb 24, 2009In a project I'm working on, I have 3 separate mazes, a Splash Screen, and a Module for my global variable(gWin, to detect wins on the mazes). When you finish a maze, I'd like to get it so that it does not allow you to go back and redo a maze, to prevent cheating as I want a final screen to appear when they complete all 3 of the mazes. Is there a way that I can make a variable or something to be able to check if a maze was already completed then cause that maze to have it's .Enabled property set to false?

VS 2010 Two Separate Arrays And Then Compare Them?
Jul 2, 2011I want to put the matches from a regular expression into an array or something that i can use to compare it with another array, it being the lines from a txt file names "users.txt". Code A:

And the second code will do the exact same thing. What i want to do is compare each line in the Txt file (Code B) to the reg expression matches (Code A) and for it to alert me if any is missing. So it needs to compare Code B to Code A. (PS. Order is irrelevant, it can be in different places as long as its there) In my other thread i got a little confused and couldn't clearly communicate what i was trying to do.
VS 2010 With Separate Update Program?
Jul 1, 2010Well need to make a separate update program and I need some way of getting my main application's version. I thought about making a text file with the version but I can't write to the program files folder with permission, thats why I have a second program. I also though about making the update program's version the same as the main application, but that doesn't seem right because I have to update the update program. So is there a way I can get the main applications version inside the update program?
