VS 2010 - How To Get Number Of Items In Each Column In 2 Dim Array
Mar 14, 2011
When you have a single dim array, you get number of items in with simple Ubound(array). What is the most efficient way, to get number of items in each "column" in 2 dimensional array? My code (part):
.NET
Public Shared LoopStock()() As LoopStockDef
Public Structure LoopStockDef
Dim EntID As Int32
Dim LoopNo As Int16
Dim LoopType As String
Dim loopStPtX As Int32
[Code] .....
You can't Ubound multidimensional array as you can do with single dimensional array, as the second dimension can have different number of items in each column (DimX in the following table)
You get size of 2nd dimension, not number of items in the table for particular column. The best solution which comes to my mind is to define another array, a multidimensional counter, like
.NET
LoopStockDims() As Int16
And count every added item for each column. Is this the best way?
I am trying to program the hamming code in vb... theoretically i understand and know how to do everything, first problem I've encountered is dynamic arrays in vb.net ... is it possible to determine the length of an array from the number of items entered in it, since I have no means of figuring out an exact number or length prior to several mathematical function which outcome will be the data .. directly saved to the array !!
Would it be possible to list the number of items in a rich text box? Each item starts on a new line. Something like the following but obviously for a rtb.
I'm making my own ID field (highest number + 1) and using it when I insert a row into my tableadapter, and I've tried two ways...
Ordering my dataset by ID descending and picking the first row does nothing for me.
I've tried building a datatable and ordering it descending and choosing the first row. This works great until you get to 10... Then it counts 1, 10, 2, 3, 4...
How can I make a textbox, label, etc be the next ascending number in my column Highest Number + 1?
I'm gonna add x number of items to a listbox in form #2 form form #1. When I click the button it opens Form #2 and then I tried this code (which makes the form freeze): Dim qwe As Integer = 1 Do Until qwe = regKey.GetValue("Count") + 1 PrMaker.ListView1.Items.Add(regKey.GetValue(qwe)) qwe = qwe + 1 Loop The regKey.GetValue("Count") is a registry key which contains a integer (unknown). What is wrong, or is there another, better way, of doing this?
I am back as always! Here is my question. First and formally, With the code;
SendRequest("http://aavirtual.net/brett/core/classes/class.acars.php?fun=6") Dim Splitter Splitter = Split(request, ";")
With that data above, I am creating a For Statement to loop all the data being pulled, into a Rich text Box. Here is the question. I need to count the number of objects Splitted.
Example:
Car; Train; Boat; Bike;
The Splitter is ";", And there are a total of 4 Objects needing to be split. How can i count the number of objects? The Objects are Car;Train;Boat;Bike, And I need visual basic to count the number of those objects which is 4. But I need a function that will output that.
I want the program to check the number of items in a list box, then send use that number to form a FOR loop and send each to the serial port individually. It actually sends everything, but the program always crashes after the last one saying that the sdprintcount variable is an invalid number for the index. I don't get it as this happens no matter how many items are in the list, and it always crashes on the last one. It sends it, but then it says the index number is invalid.
********************************* Dim sdmods As Integer Dim sdmodsp As String sdmods = sandwichmodlist.Items.Count
I want to display distinct items from a column in a checked list box then make a selection or selections and perform commands based on info from a second column in that database the database is a small Access 2010 database in the application directory right now I added the data source and items dont display even though I selected that source in the checked list box properties
Dataset = MyDataSet1 CheckedListBox = MyListBox1
I tried it with a combo box and it shows items but includes duplicates, did I setup the datasource wrong?
How do I find Line 40 and column 89 in my code. I get the following error message.Error 1 Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types. Line 40 column 89.

I'm working on a To Do List program of sorts. I currently have a CheckedListBox on the form with an Add Button and a Delete Button. I send the items to an array and then use that array to fill in my CheckedListbox. This all works.
I wrote the following code to delete items:
Dim summarylistboxindex As Integer summarylistboxindex = SummaryListBox.SelectedIndex MonkeysTasks(summarylistboxindex) = String.Empty
[Code]....
I use a variable called INTCOUNTER to keep track of my position in the array.
My question:
How can I use the second piece of code that deletes multiple items at once from my CheckedListBox AND delete the corresponding entry in the array?
ie if my checkedlistbox items were Apple Orange and Banana
I want to delete Apple and Banana at the same time and then remove them from Fruits(0) and Fruits(2) at the same time they are deleted from the CheckedListBox.
I am just wondering how I can make a listbox count the number of selected items and display it in a text label. My listbox selection mode is on MultiExtended.
I have a number of arrays (lets say two for the time being, but this needs to be scalable from 1-n). Each array represents a different "parameter" for the application I'm working on. I need to create a multidimensional array containing a set which represents each of the permutations of each of the "parameters". Effectively each row represents each permutation of the selected options for each "parameter" array.
For instance, say the first array of inputs is: "Blue" "White" "Yellow"
And the second: 1 66 95
I need to create an array: "Blue", 1 "Blue", 66 "Blue", 95 "White", 1 "White", 66 "White", 95 "Yellow", 1 "Yellow", 66 "Yellow", 95
The main work is in the "If Not (OutputTemp Is Nothing)" loop. Effectively I need to access the content in the first array with a "modulus" so that: (using the example above). I'm accessing the rows in the following method OldArr,NewArr 11 12 13 21 22 23 31 32 33 worked it out.
Here is the code. Public Class Permutation Public TitlePrimary As String Public TitleSecondary As String Public Order As Integer = 0 Public Values() As Object [Code] .....
As you will see from the code below I need to be able to tell before the array runs how many members of the array there are or else the program will crash. How can I redim the array depending on how many lines are in the text file (RECORDS.txt)
Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Structure Nation Dim name As String Dim continent As String [Code] .....
there are any nifty in-built .net methods that can essentially return either the number of occurrences of each element in an array, or simply return the modal value.

I wrote a function to format numbers like this: 123456100,12 -> 123.456.100,12 (I have a function too, which converts numbers from this strings).Now, I have a dgv and a column with these numbers (or rather strings). The sort mode is set to automatic. If I sort the column, it doesn't work, because the values are not really numbers, but strings. But I get the same result (the sorting doesn't work), if I use the formatnumber function (this returns strings too).
I could use the programmatic sort mode and before sorting I format the strings to numbers, then sort the column, and then format the numbers like above. But this is a bit slow (the dgv has appr. 800 rows), and in this case, I haven't an arrow next to the column header text.is it possible to sort the column like a normal number-column with automatic sortmode?
I've got some old code of mine that I'm going back to and updating a little bit. On one part of it I need to check if there are any items in the recycle bin or not.
This is the code I was using to accomplish this:
vbcode
Private Declare Function SHQueryRecycleBin Lib "shell32.dll" Alias "SHQueryRecycleBinA" (ByVal pszRootPath As String, ByRef pSHQueryRBInfo As SHQUERYRBINFO) As Long Private Structure ULARGE_INTEGER
[Code]....
The msgbox and end is just in there for debugging purposes. This always returns all 0s, even when I know that there is something in the recycle bin.
I'm doing a notepad project, just because, and in Ms's notepad there is an option for a statusstrip. I'm just having probems getting the line number and I know it's not called column number, more like selection start. When I do the selection start, it works, just not how I want it to like so:
[CODE...]
but when I use that, it acts funny. I have it in my textbox's.keydown event. So if I were to use the arrow keys to navigate around text then it gets thrown off very easily. How would I do this?
I need to write a program that requests a high number and a low number from the user, then the program searches the array and finds all elements within the two numbers. The program is used to search for past presidents, so if I type 43 for low number and 44 for high number, the program will display:
George Walker Bush Barack Hussein Obama
I think I have an idea of how to search up to a certain point, but not to stop at a certain point....Here is the code that I have for that particular sub procedure:
Quote:
Private Sub btnDisplayRqst_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDisplayRqst.Click Dim sr As IO.StreamReader = IO.File.OpenText("PRESIDENTS.TXT")
Trying to upload a picture file from an online source and store it in a byte array but am having the error: "Number of Indices is less than the number of dimensions in the indexed array".
Dim Bytes() as Byte Dim Inet1 as System.Net.Webrequest
how can i add item into next column when my first column add to 5 items it will automatically move to next column and continue to add item in 2nd column.
