VS 2010 VB 2010 - Program For Multiple Choice Test?
Apr 2, 2011I'm really new at programming and was looking for guidance about a project I have.I have to design a program that administers a multiple choice test to users. It delivers questions one at a time, from a predefined test file for the user to answer. It also marks and displays a score at the end of the test.
First, a QUESTION form verify's the user's registration status and access. The user provides a registration number and password and the program reads it from a "registration.txt" file to determine if the user is eligible to take the test (i.e., they are registered to take it). If it is correct, then the user presses the "Begin" button. If not, then a message appears and the student tries again to enter the information.
A read only text box will display the score at the end of the test (String with format correct/total) and the user can't retake the test.Second, a QUESTION form opens after clicking "Begin" on the entry form. The questions are going to be from a "testfile.txt" file.Each question is on multiple lines in the file. The first line consists of the question followed by possible answers followed by the correct answer ( 3 items are separated by "#"). The current question number and the question will be displayed in textboxes.'n'= possible answers; so each of the next 'n' lines provides a possible answer. All possible answers will be displayed in a Listbox.After the user selects an answer, an ''Enter'' button is pressed. This will submit and evaluate the answer. If nothing is selected a textbox should appear and display the error message (APPEARS ONLY IF THERE IS AN ERROR). After pressing ''Enter'', the next question is displayed.When all questions answered, the entry form is displayed again and displays the score.
I know that's a lot of information, but I wanted it to be really clear. Would it be best to cycle/loop the questions with a DoWhile loop? And how would I store the answers while the user goes through the test?
Localization - Menu Strip To Select An Other Language - Doesn't Change My Menustip Text To My Selected Language
Mar 29, 2010In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR & nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

Dec 4, 2011I am a Network Administrator in the Army so programming is not my strong area. I have been messing with Batch files and WMI, just recently i started VB Scripts (VERY BASIC) like adding an input box to set computer name, scan network for computer name on domain, return wmi info for that remote computer etc... I know there are programs out there that can do all of this, however the Army will only allow certain approved programs to be installed on government workstations, i have been using .Bat files to gather info which is fine, however it is very time consuming when you have entire subnets with computers, networked printers, etc to place into a spreadhseet for higher headquarters tracking not to mention the over 20 columns of required data to track for each computer. I have VB 2010 Express, working on a Windows Form Application Project. Goal is to interface my VB Script (written with notepad) with a GUI that will generate an internal spreadsheet on the form window in a datagridview. So far i have the basic window and i have my gridview with my column headers set. How do i get the data into the columns and rows accordingly.
Application Basic: Execute Program, in main window select button (Scan IP Range) <--- I want this to open an input box for the beginning subnet, input base address to start scan from, next input box for end range, then msgbox for start scan. i want the results of the scan to autofill the datagridview and add new row for each IP address that had a ping reply, returning valid data from WMI results as it receives the data. What would be the best method to achieve my goal. i am not asking you to write the program, i have been looking and studying MULTIPLE sites, think i just need another set of eyes on this to unlock the knowledge i have locked away, if ya know what i mean. Also, if you don't mind let me know what you think of this app im trying to turn out... Super Thanks for your help.This is the Base Batch File running. It calls an external VB Script written in notepad. VS 2010 HttpWebRequest Changing Prefered Language?
Jul 6, 2009I am using a System.Net.HttpWebRequest class to download source-codes from a website, in an ASP .NET application.
The problem is however, that the ASP .NET server hosting my application is located in the United States. This means that when the application downloads source-codes of a specific page, the page being downloaded thinks that it needs to send the United States version of the page itself.
I need that to be customizable.

VS 2010 CPU Stress Test Program From Scratch?
Oct 12, 2010i would like for my first project to be a CPU stress testing program (kind of like Core Damage or Intel Burn Test).I have no problem designing the form, but how and where should I start? I've done some searching, but haven't really found much. I think the reason for that is because nobody is really going to just give out source code for anything (which is completely understandable).
The main thing I would like to understand is what exactly makes the CPU work at 100%? And how could I design it to where it automatically determines the amount of cores/threads the CPU has, and utilize them 100% without having to open up one instance for each? Or is that jumping too far ahead?
EDIT > I know that I'll need to create some kind of loop for the CPU to process over and over until closed. I was thinking something along the lines of calculating Pi to 32 million digits or something like that.

Nov 29, 2010I have multilingual application that was done in VB2005.We recently had a request to translate the application to Arabic (Egypt), so I have been happily running through all of the forms and changing the layout for Right to Left format.I have 2 forms that are problematic though.On one form, whenever I select Arabic (Egypt), it will automatically switch the selection to Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and try to add an ar-SA resx file.On the other problematic form, if I choose Arabic (Egypt), the IDE will automatically select Chinese (People's Republic of China), then copy the contents of my ar-EG resx file into the zh-CN file, overwriting all of our Chinese translations and layout changes with the Arabic ones.

VS 2010 Test Score Calc - Let The User Add Scores To The List
Feb 8, 2012I'm not sure where I'm going wrong with this. it's supposed to let the user add scores to the list, then calculate the total, average, and count. VS 2010 Array - Small Report Card Project - Pull 5 Students With Each Student Having 5 Test Scores A Piece
Jan 13, 2012I'm basically trying to do a small report card project. I only need to pull 5 Students with each student having 5 Test Scores a piece. The full Code of what I have for the submit button is below. I have actually 3 questions.
1. I always seem to have trouble with them unless I initialize them when I dim them. Is there a better way than below
2. The below code works really well for Student 1 and all 5 test scores. Rather than do that code 5 times though, what is the best way for me to basically state that IF dblStudent1(intMax) = 4 Then Change dblStudent1(intMax) to dblStudent2(intMax) etc.
3. Would this be better suited towards a multidimensional array ?

Write A Unit Test Assembly In C# To Test Against An Assembly Written In VB?
Sep 20, 2011Probably a dumb question, but can you write a unit test project in one language to test against another project in a different language?I'd like to translate one of our VB assemblies into C#, but want to build unit tests to verify the results. I've tried to set a unit test project up to do this, but I can't seem to access the VB code within a unit test... I can't figure out if I'm just missing/doing something stupid, or it really isn't allowed.

Dec 4, 2010I remember in VS 2005 that when I was working on making user controls, if I removed the default Form1 and ran debug, that some sort of test container popped up. The window had a drop down menu to the right with some other properties so that I could choose from it the control I wanted to test. Choosing it would show the control to the left (in the main area) so I could test it, all without placing the control(s) on a form.
However, I cant find how to use this in VS 2010. I tried deleting Form1 and leaving nothing but by custom controls, but it just causes errors.What is the name of this window, and how can I get to it in VS 2010?

Feb 16, 2012I have created a neat visual basic app.In it are 25 little Access databases that the user selects things from. The costs of each selection is added, subtracted, divided and totaled. Finally all the selection totals (25 of them) are saved in one database that the user can come back later to either finish selecting (if he didn't before) or delete it. There are many images and sounds, text boxes, drop down lists,etc in the app. Its about 10MB big.
What langauge do you think would be the best one to use to put this app on the web so that users can play with it without buying a CD or downloading a CD?
Before I invest to have it re-done in a lanquage to put it on the web OR I learn another langauge and do it myself..
Changing The Language Of App?
Jul 21, 2010have created a text editor, but I want to upgrade it with some serious functionality and userbility.
I have done most of the things that I had planned, but I have also come up with an idea that I am not too sure on how to code.
I have created a dialog box which opens when you click the options menu item in the menu stip control, I have customised this dialog box so the user can change display modes and so on but now I want to be able to change the language of the entire application as in from the default English (american) to French, German and so on.
When the user changes the language selection I want the text in the menu bar, the title of the app and the text of whatever is in the text box of the app.
I have created check boxes for the language selections, and invoked the check box click handle events but not sure how to proceed with the rest of the code.
