Difference Between Build ,rebuild ,start , Start Without Debugging?
Aug 18, 2007I am confused with the terms Build ,rebuild ,start , start without debugging in VS.NET.After writing the code what actually we want to do .We have to run directly by pressing F5 key or we have to build the solution .Usually i tried to run the application after coding and if shows any any errors i will fix that and run again .I never used build or rebuild thing .What exactly meant by building the solution .What is meant by rebuild and start without debugging.

Jan 8, 2010So I've got some code that I've written in C and compiled into a DLL. This code is called by my VB.NET code. That interface is working fine, but I need to debug some of the C code. But obviously since it's not in VB I can't use the Visual Studio debugger. I've tried attaching a GDB debugger to the process while it's running. It lets me set the breakpoints and it even stops at them, but it doesn't let me see the lines of code. My code was compiled with debug information, so I don't know why it won't let me see it.

Process.Start To Start An External Command Line Application
Aug 4, 2009I'm using Process.Start to start an external command line application and using the StartInfo.Arguments method to send parameters to the application. I imagine I'll need to use a loop... but I can't figure out exactly how yet.I need to send anywhere from 1 - an infinite number of files names to this application. Each file has to be sent one after the other. So once the first one is done, I need to loop back around and past the second one.I can probably use the Directory.GetFiles method to get all of the files, but I don't know how to assign them.

I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.
Debugging A SQL Command?
Nov 23, 2010enter code hereI am attempting to call SQL stored procedure that does an INSERT. However, when I walkthrough my vb.net code, I get a message saying "Procedure or function sp_InsertARPlanner has too many arguments specified." I have double checked, but the SQL string in VB has the same # of params as in the stored procedure.

Nov 18, 2008I am working with visual studio 2008, developing a simple windows form app. in VB. but a very weird situation has presented itself (at least I think its weird).When I try F5 or any other way to start the debugger I get this message:"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging.The debugger cannot connect to the remote computer. This may bebecause the remote computer does not exist or a firewall may be preventing communication to the remote computer. Please see Helpfor assistance."Needless to say, Help is Helpless.The weird thing about it is that this only appears if my computer is not connected to the home network and only in VB. When I try to debug on any other language it works fine, or if I connect to the network then VB debugs fine. I do not think I am using a remote debugger.

Since this is my first time debugging a program with this particular instance of the program, I am in shock. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Dec 28, 2011Im trying to debug a troublesome Project. I downloaded and installed the Symbols from MS, set my Project to use the Folder where I installed them, etc. When I start Debugging, I can see at the bottom of my IDE window that it is loading Symbols at a rapid clip, until it gets to It stops, and I have tried waiting 15 minutes to no avail.

On Click of Button1- Connect to host
On Click of Button2- Prompt for username
On Click of Button3- Prompt for password
As these commands all relate to previous commands, they need to be carried out in the same instance of the command prompt.I have tried using the attached solution from an older post however it just doesnt work when trying to connect to a host (it works perfectly fine when using the standard command prompt).I'd also like to read any outputs from the command-line so I can create events on errors thrown for example...
